The Captive One☽63☾

Klaus realized in a moment as his blood ran cold. "Or he made enough for two."

Elijah frowned in confusion at Klaus' terrified face.

"Aurora."

Klaus was walking around the NOLA music day festival with Isabel after visiting Cami. There were huge crowds of people drinking, dancing, and eating fair food like cotton candy.

"This is nice," Isabel commented. "Everybody at peace and having fun." She spotted a cart of food that seemed to call out to her. "I'll be right back. I'm hungry."

He nodded and watched her go for a moment before he sensed something and turned back to find Lucien standing near the fountain, smirking at him. Klaus glared at him in return, but his line of sight became broken by a crowd of people walking past him, and once they have passed, Lucien completely vanished from view.

Klaus scowled. "Bel." He called to her without approaching. She turned her ear to him to show she was listening. "I caught sight of Lucien. I need you to stay back. And for the love of god don't follow me."

"Okay." She replied and then he set off to track him down, eventually ending up in an alley behind a large brick building near Cami's apartment.

Lucien backhanded Klaus for the second time and sent him flying backward, where he landed on the hood of an old car and smashed the windshield. Klaus spat out some blood from his mouth just as he spotted Isabel peak out from the corner of the alley. He groaned in exasperation -hoping she stayed put- as Lucien leaped forward and landed in front of him on the hood of the car.

"Do you see now, old friend?" Lucien asked patronizingly. "You cannot beat me."

Klaus, though slightly weakened, still scoffs in offense at the remark. "Defeated at the hands of a stable boy? I sincerely doubt it."

Lucien chuckled. "I'll have my moment. Yet, you still have a role to play in the prophecy I am to fulfill. You're gonna help me get Elijah."

Klaus spun on his bottom and kicked Lucien's legs out from under him, causing him to fall off the car as Klaus got back into a defensive position. He leaped down onto the pavement and prepares to stab Lucien with Papa Tunde's blade, but Lucien quickly got up and grabbed him by the wrist to stop him as Klaus struggled to break his hold. Klaus used his free hand to give him more strength as he aimed the tip of the blade toward Lucien's heart and growled at him.

"I'm not gonna let you hurt my brother."

"Sadly, you don't have a choice."

Lucien snapped Klaus' right wrist and used it to aim the blade at Klaus' own heart, eventually plunging it into his chest and causing Klaus to roar in pain as the blade embedded itself in his heart. Lucien seemed shocked by this turn of events but was pleased as Klaus gasped in pain and fell to his knees before him. However, unbeknownst to Lucien, Isabel was just around the corner and ready to follow him.

Freya was still sketching with a piece of charcoal, her rough drafts covering the coffee table.

Elijah continued to pace as he became impatient. "Freya, we are out of time."

"A sigil is a complicated magical symbol, weaponized and condensed to its most potent form. If I combine the right elements, we'll have a chance at stopping Lucien, and if I don't..."

Freya trailed off, just as the sound of panicked knocking was heard from downstairs. Freya and Elijah give each other an alarmed look as they rush to the courtyard, though Hayley beats them there. She rushed toward Isabel with a worried expression.

"What's wrong?"

"It's Nik... Lucien has him," she said as she rushed toward them. Hayley took a look outside to make sure no one else was coming before following the group into the courtyard.

"Tell us what happened," Hayley said.

"Lucien ambushed him. He knocked him around like it was nothing."

"Did he bite him?" Elijah asked.

"No. No. He's just stuck with Papa Tunde's blade. I think he wanted him alive. I followed them. Lucien took Klaus back to the penthouse."

Just then, Elijah's phone buzzed, and he scowled when he saw that he had received a text from Lucien.

"Lucien is demanding my presence at the Whiskey Cask- alone and immediately. He says if I delay, Niklaus will die."

They all look anxious and overwhelmed as Elijah turned and walked toward the door.

≪≫•≪≫•≪≫

Elijah was in the courtyard, about to leave to meet with Lucien when Hayley approached him.

"Are you seriously going out there?"

Elijah sighed as he said, "I'm seriously going out there."

Hayley glared not amused. "Elijah, the whole point of putting the deed to the compound in Freya's name was to make this place impenetrable. Now, you're gonna pick a fight with a guy who can kill you?"

"Yes, when you put it that way... It does sound a little reckless."

"It's not a little reckless." Isabel jumped in as she walked back into the courtyard. "It's a lot of reckless. Especially if you don't have a plan. So please for the sake of my and Hayley's sanity come up with some sort of plan before storming in?"

"I'll try."

"Better than nothing," Isabel muttered.

Elijah turned around and started to walk away as Hayley said, "please be safe."

≪≫•≪≫•≪≫

Cami and the Paxon sisters walked determinedly down the street toward Lucien's apartment while they discuss their game plan.

"Here's the problem-" Cami started. "I haven't been invited into Lucien's penthouse."

"So, you can wave your dark objects in the foyer, and we'll do all the dirty work."

Cami looked concerned as she stopped walking, and when they realized this, she stopped and turned back to face her.

"Hey, are you up for this?" Isabel asked, concerned.

"What if I'm a liability?" The human fretted. "I've been training, so I can punch a bag, but in a real fight?"

"Cami, here's the thing about being afraid-- if you have to do the thing you're afraid of, then all this fear is for nothing. Either turn it into anger or leave it at the door. But, either way, you control your emotions, which means you're already one step ahead of Aurora." Hayley told the girl.

Cami nodded, knowing that she was right, but when she saw a sign behind the two that read, 'Brennan's Pharmacy Prescriptions,' she had a realization that brought a smile to her face.

"Hey, I have an idea..."

≪≫•≪≫•≪≫

Aurora ripped the stake out of Klaus' throat, causing him to groan in pain.

"That's it? Nothing more to say? No more taunts tripping from your tongue? Well, then, I suppose it's time I finish this." She took the stake and aimed it at her heart.

"What are you doing?" He asked confused and concerned.

"I'm gonna drive this into my heart, die, and be reborn. And then, with the aid of my new-found power... I'm going to silence you permanently." Before she can make a move, the elevator dinged in the lobby, forcing Aurora to go and investigate. "Well, it appears we have company." Aurora opened the double doors and was both surprised and pleased to see Cami standing there waiting for her.

Cami smiled fakely upon seeing the redhead. "Yes you do." She opened the front of her coat and pulled out an ancient-looking knife with a red tassel hanging from the end of the grip. "And it's not a friendly visit."

Aurora tilted her head with a smile clearly amused. "Ooh, you cheeky little minx! Have you come to have a go at me?"

"Get out of here, Camille!" The hybrid growled.

"Shut up, Nik." Aurora snapped. "This is between us girls. Though, I suppose I will let you listen to her cries as I tear off her limbs like the wings of a pretty little butterfly."

The blonde sneered at her and said, "I'd like to see you try."

"Ooh!" Aurora replied mockingly. "You're brandishing your antiques at me. I suppose I would be scared, if I thought you were quick enough to use them." Aurora walked menacingly toward Cami, passing through the threshold and backing the human toward the elevator. "You really did not think this through, did you?"

"Actually, we did," Camille said triumphantly.

Just then, the elevator dinged again, and Hayley vamp-sped toward her, tackling her as they slide back into the apartment. Hayley straddled Aurora and plunged her hand into Aurora's chest as she grabbed her heart, only to be stopped by Klaus.

"Stop! She drank the serum."

Hayley scowled at Aurora and squeezed her heart even tighter, causing Aurora to whimper in pain before she reluctantly let go and pulled her hand out of her chest, leaving her heart intact. Looking back at Klaus distracted her enough that Aurora quickly snapped her neck while Cami watched helplessly from the foyer. Aurora then threw Hayley's unconscious body across the room, where it slammed against the wall before falling into a heap on the ground in the corner. Cami looked down at the knife in her hand and held it out defensively.

≪≫•≪≫•≪≫

As Aurora looked around at everyone looking quite pleased by the turn of events.

"Well, would you look at that? You lot are seriously incompetent." She gave a small laugh. "I'm surprised your little werewolf hadn't come to save you."

"No, I was just back up," Isabel said once she was able to get out of the elevator. She vamp sped at Aurora and tackled her to the ground and smashed her head into the ground. Klaus watched on as Aurora flipped her over and squeezed on Isabel's neck. Isabel quickly gripped her arm and squeezed to break it while trying to catch some air. She pushed the woman off and growled in a fighting stance.

"Come on Aurora. Come get me." Isabel taunted.

Aurora ran toward her trying to grab the hybrid's arm but she moved and elbowed the woman in the back causing her to jerk and briefly lose her breath. Sick of fighting, Aurora reached into her pocket with her good hand and picked up some powder, smearing it on Isabel's face when she turns and swipes at her. Isabel tried to wipe it away as she stumbled feeling her strength weaken away.

"Enjoy that little concoction of wolfsbane, vervain, and Lily of the valley," Aurora smirked and healed her hand before turning to the original hybrid. "Nik, what a conundrum! A girl you love right here," she said as she waved her hand in Isabel's direction. "Your brothers lover over there." She gestured to the knocked-out Hayley. "Your best friend there." She gestured toward where Cami was standing in the doorway. "Which one should I kill first?" She mused.

"I'm the one who betrayed you. I'm the one you hate."

"And they're the ones you care for. So, what a pleasure for me to watch your face as I rip them all apart!"

"Hey, I'm right here- ready and waiting," Camille said as she gathered up all her courage as she watched Isabel struggle to breathe and heal.

"Oh, Cami... "The Hero" was never a good look on you. Trembling and helpless is more your style."

Cami swiped at her with her knife with an impressive amount of skill, but Aurora's advanced age made her faster and stronger, allowing her to grab Cami by the wrist and snap her arm, forcing her to drop the blade onto the ground. She then grabbed Cami by the back of the neck with one hand, gripping Cami's right wrist tightly with the other as she pushed her toward the doorway. "Cami, did Nik ever mention to you what happens when a vampire goes into a room without being invited?"

Klaus' eyes widen in alarm as Aurora shoved Cami toward the threshold, causing her to shriek in pain as she is as forced against the invisible barrier. The sound of her cries caused Klaus to struggle against his restraints, to save the girls from Auroras wrath.

"Aurora! Please!" Klaus begged.

Aurora looked furious at how desperate Klaus was to save Cami, and she forcefully pushed Cami into the apartment, where she fell onto her knees next to Isabel causing her to shriek in more pain.

≪≫•≪≫•≪≫

Aurora picked Isabel up by the hair causing her to cry out and then held Cami so that she couldn't go anywhere. Cami started to bleed from her eyes and nose as she wailed and tried to get out of the woman's grip.

"Let them go!" Klaus yelled.

"Hush, Nik! Don't make their final moments any worse than they need to be!"

Aurora smirked and shoved Cami in more and bent over slightly placing her hand over Isabel's heart, her voice taking on a mocking and condescending tone as she addressed Isabel, but keeps her eyes on Klaus the entire time to watch his reaction to her torture.

"Darling, I almost feel sorry for you. Blinded by your love as I once was, ready to give everything -even your life- for one who is and will always be unworthy." She sneered, starting to dig her hand in her chest causing her to cry and Klaus to draw blood from his restraints trying to get out.

Cami cautiously reached into her pocket and grabbed a syringe, though Aurora couldn't see it, and she took advantage of the fact that Aurora was distracted by staring Klaus in the eyes by giving Isabel a thumbs up.

Isabel quickly mustered up all her strength, her eyes glowing blue, and elbowed Auroras knees causing her to buckle, and then she broke the hand that she had over her heart and pushed herself away.

Hayley who had just woken up vamp sped toward Aurora and punched her in the face so hard she fell backward onto her bottom on the floor in front of Cami.

"Cami, now!" Isabel yelled.

Cami quickly grabbed Aurora in a headlock and injected her in the neck with the syringe, causing Aurora to gasp in pain. Klaus looked both shocked and impressed by the girls plan as Cami breathed a sigh of relief and fell backward.

"Goodnight, sunshine." Hayley looked at Isabel then at Aurora happy the insufferable woman was down for the count.

Klaus, relieved, allowed himself to fall backward onto his bottom, looking exhausted. Isabel's eyes glowing bluer as her strength returned more.

Klaus, Elijah, and Freya talked in the dining room of the compound as Klaus laid the enchanted chains Lucien used to bind him earlier onto the table.

"Mission accomplished. And it only took you the better part of a day!" Klaus exclaimed snarkily.

"Do you want the chains back on?" Freya asked sarcastically, not amused by Klaus' dramatics.

"You'd be doing us all a marvelous favor," Elijah added. "Perhaps you could fasten something to his mouth?"

"Aurora's still out cold," Isabel said as she entered the dining room, Hayley still watching over the sleeping vampire. "What are the chances of keeping her that way?"

"Oh, my spell will keep her down long enough to use the serum in her blood to figure out a way to kill both her and Lucien."

"I must say, I'm rather looking forward to it."

Freyas smiled at Klaus as she said, "you're welcome," then left the room.

"I suppose I ought to be thanking you as well."

"Definitely. And you can do that with diaper duty," she said cheekily and Klaus let's put a short laugh. "But seriously while you're on the grateful-train, you should probably talk to Cami."

"I believe Camille prefers I leave her alone."

"Oh please, Nik. Did you see what she went through to save your ass? Cami may tell us that staying away is best, and maybe it is. But she still care for us all and it's our job to show her we will always care and appreciate what she does for us. If you want her to stay your friend you can't abandon her."

Klaus nodded in understanding. "Thank you... Bel."

She gave him a small smile and pat his back before turning to leave, only to run into Kol who was entering the room. Isabel stared at him for a moment before scooting past him leaving him to ponder what she said.

"Give her a little more time brother," Elijah told his youngest brother. "She's still struggling."
