As I regain consciousness, I feel a soft and soothing warmth holding my hand.
"Oh thank God, Valor, you weren't waking up a-and I-I-"
She started crying as she suddenly hugged me.
This feeling of warmth, its actually quite comforting.
"Please, never scare me like that again, Valor"
My face turns red as I stay silent, I don't exactly know how to react in this situation.
For some reason though, as I placed my arms around her and hugged her, giving her a kiss on the forehead as I simply nod.
"I'm sorry for worrying you, Marina, that reminds me though, has Yumi identified any of the bodies?"
"Yes, she said there's one that might help lead us to the mastermind"
"Hm, what did she find?"
"The victim in the forest was Aries, it seemed that he worked for the highest bidder, until recently, one day, people though he dropped off the face of the planet, but after some hacking, Yumi managed to find out what happened to him, someone paid him quite a bit of money to work for him, I can't imagine why he's dead though"
"Hey, has any other bodies showed up?"
"Well, one body did show up, at least that's what Remi told me, she said she was gonna investigate it, but, are you sure you'll be fine, Valor?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine, don't worry ok?"
"B-But Yumi said she saw multiple abnormalities when she-"
"Don't worry, Yumi always worries about me all the time, I promise I'll be fine"
I could tell that even saying that would not make Marina feel any better, in fact, it seems to have made her even more worried.
"Tell you what, we'll let Remi investigate and I'll spend some time with you, will that make you feel better?"
She happily nods and smiles, holding my arm happily as well.
Once we leave the place, we spend time together until night time, but on the way back, we hear a cry for help.
Without any hesitation, I quickly ran to the source of it as Marina followed behind me the best she could.
The source of the scream seemed to come from the top of the hotel.
Before I could run in to get to the top floor, I felt a sudden jolt of pain, thankfully I was able to catch myself, even so, I still leaned on the building.
"V-Valor, a-are you ok?!"
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine, pain isn't going to get in the way of saving this person!"
I quickly ran into the hotel with Marina following after me, I could see glimpses of some the workers who were killed, but my top priority is saving the person who cried for help.
As I finally make it to the roof, I see a person standing on the ledge, holding someone as well, my first instinct was to grab my gun, but I couldn't risk putting the hostage in danger.
"You know too much detective, it's about time we do something with you and your partner"
Naturally, the police should be here, but I'm going to need something to make this work.
"Marina, be ready, alright?"
She nods, a bit confused, but then she gets the idea as she quickly runs.
I have to hope this actually works.
As I lunged at him, I grabbed the hostage as well.
Now comes the hard part, there's a ladder close by, I just need to grab it.
"Hold on tightly ok, because I need to use my hands!"
The person nods as she holds me tightly while holding the attacker close as well.
I honestly thought I wasn't going to make the jump, but thankfully, I managed to grab it just in time before I hit the ground.
As Marina comes back with the police and paramedics, I let out a sigh as I give them the attacker.
Upon closer inspection, the victim seemed to be Luna.
However, I guess the shock caused her to lose consciousness.
"V-Valor, oh thank god your alright, I was so worried!"
As I lie Luna down, I let out a sigh and smile to see Marina, however, that same pain I felt earlier came back.
It caused me to drop to my knees as I had the wind knocked out of me.
No, it felt worse than that, it felt like every part of me was on fire.
"V-Valor, are you alright?!"
It feels like I'm slowly being suffocated from all the chest pain.
I can hardly endure this any longer.
"W-We need m-medical a-attention over h-here!"
I'm losing consciousness, this seems to be something that happens quite often now, I've gotten used to it, but this, I can't take it.
Wait, it doesn't feel like I'm losing consciousness, you don't normally see a bright light when you lose consciousness, which can only mean.
I haven't solved this case yet, I can't die yet without having this case solved yet.
Besides, it feels like I'm forgetting something.
As I open my eyes I can see something reaching out to grab me.
It has a soft voice as well, it's even calling my name.
Is this what you call, a near death hallucination?
Before I could even grab the hand, my body suddenly stiffened up, I couldn't move what so ever, but, at the same time, any and all warmth that left me was slowly returning.
I'm not sure what's going on, but, if this warmth is giving me the strength I need to continue, then I'll use it.
When I can actually move around, I grab the hand as I'm suddenly pulled with great force.
So many different things rush through me, I can't comprehend any of this, well, some of this I mean.
I don't get what happened though, but now that I think about it, I probably understand what the bright light was that I saw.
I could be wrong, but they usually say, just before you die, your life will flash before you eyes.
It's the only possible explanation I have at the very least.
