Chapter One : Lunar Eclipse
"Mommy! Can you read us a bed time story please?" I ask mom using my puppy dog eyes.
"That won't work on me Crescent." She sighed when she saw my twin sister copy my actions.
"Fine. I hate it when you two tag team me." My sister and I high-fived each other in accomplishment and snuggled into our blankets.
"Long ago, there used to be two sisters. They were both equally beautiful, powerful and smart. They were the daughters of the alpha and an enchantress. But one of the sisters didn't have the ability to transform into a wolf. She only knew magic, while her sister could do both. She grew cold and envious. She knew that she would never become the leader of the pack if she couldn't turn into a wolf. She discovered dark magic and experimented on herself, giving her the ability to shapeshift. Unfortunately, she used this magic for evil doing and was banished from her pack. Her heart became black as midnight. Her veins were filled with hatred. She was so angry at the world, that she ran off with a monster. Years later, she came back with the monster she ran off with. She put a curse on her family, especially her sister. She swore on her mothers grave that she would come back and slaughter all the-"
"Luna! She's here!" My father came bursting through the door. His face dripping with sweat. I can hear the cries of my pack outside of the tent. I looked at my mom who now had a look of panic and fear.
"Who's here mommy?" Dawn asks with a worried expression.
"Eclipse." She deadpans.
My sister and I share a look of fear as our mother kisses our foreheads. A few tears escape from her eyes as she inhales and exhales.
"I love you two very much!-" she pauses inbetween sobs. "Don't forget us please. Remember the prophecy. Take care of each other. I will always be with you in here." She points at our chests. She hands us two lockets and puts it around our necks. Mine had a silver crescent moon charm, and Dawn had a gold sun charm on hers. Inside the heart locket that both of our necklaces had, were a picture of our family. We all looked so happy in this picture at the beach.
"Mom! Why are you leaving?" Dawn and I say in unison as tears spill down our cheeks.
"Luna!" Dad interrupted.
"I have to go. Mommy has to go now. I love you!" Dawn screams for her to come back, but it doesn't work. She yells two names before she leaves the tent.
"Antonio! Maria!" They both appear at her side in wolf form as she calls out their names. "Keep them safe." She finishes.
"NO! MOMMY! PLEASE!"
Before we can run outside the tent, Maria and Antonio carry us using their teeth and putting us on one of their backs.
"Everything is going to be fine. Just stay strong you two." Maria assures us.
Maria and Antonio sneak outside with us on their backs. All I can see is the bloodshed of my pack. It's like a war going on out here. A war to test which pack is the strongest. I try to find my mother and father in this mess when I see my best friend instead. I watch as Ace's stomach gets penetrated by a hand-like figure. I cried in horror. Looking up, I see the monster that killed my best friend. It's eyes were as yellow as the sun. It's slender body towers over the tall pine trees. It was as if it didn't have any skin...like a shadow.
My crying seemed to have caught it's attention, for it looked at me with an evil grin that sends shivers down my spine and runs towards us. I would have thought that this would be the end of Dawn and I, until my mother and father appear at our sides in their wolf form. My mom growls and glares at the shadow figure with her icy blue eyes. She uses her power to control the elements. The wind circles her body and everyone slowly backs away, except for the monsters. One by one, the shadow figures walk closer to her, unaware of her power.
"Don't ever go near my babies again!" She gives a loud growl and stomps on the ground with such force.
"Run!" She mouths. In a flash, the ground begins to crack, releasing magma onto the surface, burning most of the monsters. Before she could fall in the cracks, she uses the wind to help her float in the air. Before I could scream and warn my mother, a woman with long black hair and pale skin, jumps very high until she's the same height as my mother, freezes in mid air, and says, "Miss me, sister?", before she stabs my mother in the chest with a sword that gives off a dark red glow.
I freeze. Everything happened in slow motion. While Dawn yells and screams, I watch my mom's white fur get drenched with blood. She falls from the sky, her icy blue eyes now turning into her normal ocean blue eyes. She struggles to get up, her eye colour flickering from bright to dark blue. The woman slowly walks towards mom, with her sword dragging behind her. Her eyes were pitch black like ashes and she had cracks on her pale skin.
Mother coughs up blood and transforms back into her human form. She stands up and pulls out her huge sword that gives off a bright white light. She swirls it in her hand and charges towards Eclipse. She raises her sword and manages to slice Eclipse's shoulder. Eclipse yells out a cry of pain and lunges her sword at mom. Mother manages to dodge it, and kicks eclipse while she's on the ground, allowing Eclipse to fall. Angry, Eclipse uses all her energy and blindly swipes the air with her sword. All I see is nothing but pure hatred towards Eclipse as I watch my mothers head split from her body and fall to the ground,
Father ran towards Eclipse, only to meet the same fate as mom. That was the cue for Maria and Antonio to leave. Eclipse stared right at us and smiled, but before I could react, we were already heading deeper into the forests. I held on to Antonio's fur and buried my face in it, covering my face from others. I cried till my hearts content. That image kept replaying in my mind over and over again. This is just too much for two three year olds to handle!
The fact that I will never see my mother or father again took a toll on me. I looked at the locket that mother gave me and held it. I will never take this locket off.
