Pokémon Sword: My Shadow

(Based off real events)

I've had this image in my phone for over a year now, and it still leaves me questioning what exactly my brother and I found that day.... Before I go on, I suppose that it's best to tell you the beginning origins, yes? That's how all stories like this seem to go.... Ever since my brother and I was young, we were major Pokémon fans starting with the Gameboy versions of the games: Red, and Blue. I always loved playing the Blue version, while my brother, T.J. we'll call him, played red version. After that, we collected the cards, watched the anime, T.J. accquired the Ruby game, and a few years later, I got the Silver copy for Gameboy. A few more years go by, and another brother, we'll call him G, was born into the family, and like myself and T.J. he turned out to be a Pokémon nerd. Who said Fandom wasn't contagious, you know? I remember when the switch came out, and Gamefreak released the new gen of Pokémon games: "Pokémon Sword", and "Pokémon Shield". G and I begged mom to get us Nintendo Switches and the games for both of us; G would ask for Sword, and I'd ask for Shield. My brother G was the only one that got both, as my mom had recieved an old switch from a work friend, and could only afford for him a switch game. I would use G's switch to play the game, and I instantly fell in love with the adorably whacky characters, and beautiful narrative! T.J. would also play, though he wasn't like me who put creativity into my characters, and enthusiasm into the game play. He literally named his character Anon, as in Anonymous, and gave himself an "edgy" look with white hair, can you imagine? After another year or two, I was surprised by my boyfriend with a used Nintendo switch, with pastel green and blue Joycons, and an animal crossing themed dock! Furthermore, he gave me three games: "Mario: 3d All Stars Collection", and wouldn't you know it? He gave me both copies of "Pokémon Sword" and "Pokémon Shield". I felt over the moon, and my boyfriend's brother helped me to get one game downloaded at least, which was my copy of Sword, before trading me a Japanese Alolan Vulpix for, if I remember correctly, a Natu, as I was just starting the game up for myself. Months go by, and I've got all my games downloaded and completed, minus the Mario game because I was stuck on a few levels, and I asked my papa to buy me the DLC pack for Sword and Shield so I could enjoy what I couldn't before, as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was due to release in that time. After my twentyith birthday, I recieved Pokémon Violet from my papa as a birthday gift, and I was so excited to play it! Of course, I had played G's Scarlet game and completed it before I did, but it was still an enjoyable story nonetheless. I even got the DLC for Christmas, but that's getting too far ahead. I was playing Violet when my brother T.J. had called me from the other room on his phone. "Hey," he said, sounding a bit amused and confused at the same time, "Uhh, come back to my room. You might wanna see this!" "But I'm in the middle of something in Violet. What is it?" I asked, not really wanting to get up from where I was. "I was playing Sword, and I somehow glitched the game." He said, and I was absolutely shocked as it was difficult for a game like Sword and Shield to be glitched majorly. But I also took into consideration that my brother was interested in things like glitches in games; he glitched the older Zelda game we have on our Ness for crying out loud in the same week! Curious as to what he found, I told him that I'd be there, and hung up to go to his room. Once I was there, I looked at him, and he said again, "Uhhh, I think I messed something up. Look at the screen!" Taking his word, I looked up at his television screen, and was completely blown away by what I saw! Just for those who don't know, when you play the game, you're character Avatar has a shadow that looks exactly like how you designed your character, much like a real human has, but this shadow seemed..... Off..... In fact, the whole SITUATION seemed off! T.J.'s avatar no longer had a shadow behind his character, and a few feet away from his avatar was a huge shadow that resembled, to me at least, the likeness of the Alolan female avatar sprite with the hat, and hair, but the bottom half looked as if it were on it's toes and wearing baggy pants, with an arm outstretched from the body. Astonished, I asked my brother how he managed to make his character's shadow do that, and his response left me even more baffled as he said, "I don't.... Know honestly..... All I did was go inside Spikemuth, and when I left I found this!" As I continued to watch, I noticed when T.J. moved his character away from the shadow, the shadow seemed to follow him, but when he tried to go near it, it would go the opposite direction. The only thing it matched was the up and down directions! Thinking that it would fix the problem, I told him to go to the Route Nine tunnel, and exit to see what would happen, and he did. When he emerged near Spikemuth again, the shadow was still there, going the opposite direction of where he was walking once again! He tried going into Spikemuth, and coming out again, but that made no difference. We were creeped out, and curious by what we saw, but nothing about the shadow seemed relatively unnerving other than the fact it just exists. I held up my phone to snap a photo of the incident; I'll leave it posted at the top portion of the story circled in blue... T.J. and I decided to try going toward Hammerlocke, and that's when the shadow just... Vanished! He hasn't had that occurrence since, but it still leaves me to wonder: What was it? What was Gamefreak trying to hide?

Authors note: Thank you for everyone who had looked at my first ever attempt at a Creepypasta. Everything that happened in this story was true, and I still do have the picture. I tried uploading it at the end of the story but my phone was acting wonky so I put the image in the insert image portion before writing. I know it's probably a common glitch, but tell me what you all think about it:).
