Before EJ became a demon, animals loved him for whatever reason. He got along great with them too, could always get them to calm down if they got too rowdy. After becoming a demon, however, this became a whole other story, as now animals go out of their way to avoid him, as they can sense that he is a completely different entity alltogether. Even Smiledog and Grinny, who are both demonish in their own right, seem to avoid him for one reason or another. EJ was crushed by this.
