Sand Shark Catch Up

The First Encounter

You had been hearing of a beach party that Mayor Greenburg's son had been planning to host, everyone was hoping this party would be a success since the town of White Sands was in very deep debt, businesses had closed and houses were for sale, almost all of your neighbours and friends had moved away to the mainland looking for work, leaving you at your house alone most of the time.

"This is so boring, I can't believe that everyone's leaving..." you said as you sat in your living room, watching your favourite show on the TV, usually you would be hanging out with your friends on the beach or in the town, but they were all gone now.

"Screw this, I'm going riding!" you said as you turned off the TV and changed into comfortable shorts and a shirt, you walked out of your house and took the keys to your (F/C) dirt bike, you walked to your garage and walked towards your bike and climbed onto it, you put on your helmet, turned the vehicle on and rode it out of your garage before closing the garage door and riding off towards the beach.

After a few minutes of riding your bike on the roads you arrived at the beach, you took off your helmet letting your hair out as you looked over the beach, you smiled sadly at the memories of your family and your friends playing on the beach and hanging out together, it was a shame that everything had gone downhill since the last time the island had a beach party, it was also the day you had lost your parents to the same shark that had killed thirteen other people.

"I miss you mom, dad..." you said as a tear rolled down your cheek, it had been very tough for you being left alone like that, your friends had been very supportive before they and their families had to leave, you knew they left to find more work and provide for themselves, but you couldn't help but feel hurt at being left behind.

You wiped away the tear and put your helmet back on before you revved the engine for your dirt bike and took off towards the beach, you rode over the sand dunes on your bike catching air before your bike hit the soft sand, you smiled under your helmet as you drove forgetting about the loneliness that had become apparent in your life, simply enjoying the feeling of the wind against your body and the speed of your bike, unaware of the large, subterranean predator that was following you.

You stopped your bike on top of a tall sand dune to take a break and drink some water from the water bottle you brought along, as you drank the water you heard a rumbling sound from close by, you looked back and saw nothing, then you heard another sound from close by, suddenly to your shock you saw what looked like a large fin moving through the sand, you were in shock at what you were looking at.

"No way, i-is that a shark, in the sand?!" you said in disbelief, the fin moved closer towards you and suddenly a large shape rose from the sand, a large, armoured body with sand sticking to it's massive body with a pointed snout, below that snout was a mouth full of sharp teeth, then you saw a gleaming black eye gazing directly at you, you trembled in fear at how large the shark was and the fact that it was in the sand! However it didn't try to attack you rather it just watched you from it's place int he sand, making no hostile moves just watching you curiously, you felt some sort of connection form from that gaze and visibly relaxed when it didn't try to attack you.

"(Y/N)! Get away from there now!" came a loud yell from behind you, you jumped startled from the sudden voice and fell off of your bike, landing in the sand in front of the large shark, your breathing sped up from having those teeth right in front of your face, then the sound of gunshots rang before the shark suddenly buried itself in the sand and vanished, you took deep breaths to calm yourself down before you were pulled up onto your feet, standing in front of you was the Sheriff, John Stone, and a blonde haired girl wearing a black tank top and very short jean-shorts, they grabbed you by the arms and pulled you away from the beach back towards the town, as you ran you looked back and saw  the shark watching you as you were pulled away.

The Second Encounter/Bringing Them Home

After Sheriff Stone and his friend, who you found out to be a Shark Expert called Sandy Powers, had pulled you off of the beach, they explained that the island was infested with large Sand Sharks that had gone on a feeding frenzy at the Sandman beach party, killing quite a lot of the college students that had arrived for the party, you had been left at the Police Station while Sheriff Stone, Sandy, Jimmy and Old man Mcsorley went to deal with the Sharks.

After some time, Sheriff Stone and Sandy came back, saying how they wiped out the Sand Sharks with napalm, but Jimmy and Mcsorley were killed by the sharks, they had also killed a gigantic mama shark, so they believed that the Sand Sharks were all gone, after finding this out you decided to finally go back to the beach and get your dirt bike back.

"Knowing my luck, I'll be scrubbing sand and dust out of the engine and parts for weeks, if it's not been stolen already! Where the hell is my bike!?" you groaned as you climbed to the top of yet another sand dune, you had been at it for the past hour and you were getting very frustrated, you looked around from your position until you saw a familiar (F/C) shape with sand built up around the tyres.

"Ah, finally! Let's go see the damage..." you said as you walked down the sand dune, suddenly your foot caught on something beneath the sand dune and fell face first into the sand, you rolled down the dune getting sand in your clothes, hair, and mouth, when you finally stopped rolling you groaned in annoyance, you sat up and spat out some of the sand that was in your mouth and clinging to your lips.

"Ugh, I hate when that happens!" you said as you spat out more sand, then tried to brush the sand out of your hair an doff of your skin and clothes, suddenly you heard a growl from your left and saw some of the sand shift, you froze in place before you slowly turned your head back towards the sand dune, the sand kept on shifting and falling down the dune until you saw something emerge from the sane, it was a large dorsal fin...

"Uh oh..." you said as you sat still, refusing to move in case the Sand Shark decided to make a meal out of you, suddenly the fin moved through the sand down towards you, stopping a few feet away from you as the sand bulged upwards revealing the head of a Sand Shark!

You gasped in shock and fear as you caught sight of the Shark's sharp teeth, the shark growled gently as it's black eyes gazed at you, it's body motionless in the sand as you two watched one another, as your own (E/C) eyes gazed into the deep, black orbs of the Sand Shark you felt an understanding form between you both, a connection formed between you, and this prehistoric predator, the Shark moved closer to you and in an act you did not see coming, started to rub it's snout against your leg.

You could feel the rough, sandy hide of the land locked fish rubbing against the skin of your legs, you felt no threatening moves coming from the Shark and reached out to pet the animal on it's snout, the Sand Shark's skin felt like living sand paper against the palm of your hand, the Shark growled lightly at your touch as it relished the contact.

"O-Okay, so far so good, just stay calm (Y/N), you've got this" you said as you adjusted yourself so you sat on both knees, facing the shark as you ran your hands over it's pointed snout, avoiding it's sharp teeth as you petted and stroked the large Shark, feeling the bond you shared grow stronger as you connected through touch, making you smile slightly at the unique experience.

After some time with you soothing and bonding with the newborn Sand Shark pup, you finally stood up and went to inspect your bike, it seemed in good shape and so you took hold of the handlebars and pushed the dirt bike back towards your house, with a large dorsal fin slicing through the warm sand beside you, the large Shark going home with you.

Getting Them Used to Their New Home/Getting Used to Them Living With You

It wasn't too difficult to have your pet Sand Shark used to it's home, really all it did now was roam the beaches more inland, closer to your house, the Shark didn't take too long to adjust to it's new territory, and the fact that there wasn't many people around now made it a lot easier for him to move around unseen, however the thing it enjoyed most was when you would sit in the sand with it and give it attention, or ride with it through the sand.

You adjusted fairly well to having a large Sand Shark pup swimming in the sand around your house, sometimes he would swim away towards the wide, sandy territories that made White Sands famous, however the Sand Shark would always come back to your house, swimming through the sand that acted as your back garden, waiting for you to get your dirt bike and ride alongside it across the dunes.
