This story is sweet, the suspense and love that it has.

My promise to you

Finally, the day I was waiting for has arrived. I looked at the clock, as it struck 12:01am. My newsfeed flooded with quotes and love messages, as the people around the world geared up to celebrate the day of love. But I could hardly pay attention as my mind wanders away to all the past memories I shared with her. The way she cared for me. The way we held my hands as we walked along the beach, watching the sunset. The way she showered her love on me whenever I failed or was down. She was the definition of true love for me. My angel. I switched off my phone and went to sleep feeling excited for the day tomorrow.

One thing, you should know about me, is that I am not a morning person. So you can guess my love for her as I woke up at 6 o'clock. I quickly stepped into the kitchen ready for my first surprise. After 30 minutes, I was ready with breakfast and her favorite green tea. As I was preparing the tray for her, she comes out of the room. To say she was surprised would be an understatement of the century.

"Did you make breakfast dear? Are you feeling well today." She inquires as she touched my forehead.

I laughed. "Yes. I am. I just thought it's valentine's day, so I wanted to treat you special."

She just smiles at me, but I could see the the liquid in her eyes. "I am going to work. Don't forget we have reservations tonight." She simply nods as I kiss her cheek and depart in my car.

Evening 6:30 pm I look at the watch. Half an hour more to go. I laugh at myself. Since when did I become a watch- keeper. I was really nervous for tonight. I wanted everything to be perfect for her. I hope she likes the gift. As the clock struck 7:00 pm, I make a bee line for the elevator. As I pull out my keys to open the door.She beat me to it. I smiled but it faded, when I looked at her attire.She was not dressed. "I told you to get dressed. We are going to be late.For once in your life, stop doing your chores." She gave me an apologetic smile as she makes her way into the room to get dressed.

15 minutes later, we are in the car, driving towards her favorite restaurant. She looks beautiful in the red dress I bought for her..We reach our destination and took our seats in the private booth for two. 'I think its time' I slowly stand up from my seat and kneel down in front of her, as she looks at me surprised. Before she can say anything, I produce the velvet box in front of her.

"I know that it was a long time ago and that this could never replace that ring. But you sold your favorite ring for me 13 years ago, to pay for my education. With this ring, I promise to keep you happy. I would never leave you like my father did. I will always keep you safe.This is my promise to you. I love you Ma. Happy valentine's day."

She had tears in her eyes as I put the ring on her finger. She kiss my forehead as the food arrives. We dine and re live our happy memories. "This is the best valentine's day of my life" she says. Her smile matched mine as we drive back home.

Writer's note: Remember: Only You know how your mother's heart, beat from inside. Always love her and take care of her. She bought you into this world. She deserves all the happiness and more. Celebrate love with the woman who taught you what "Unconditional love" actually means. Happy valentine's Day. :)
