Panic Attacks And Flying Shoes

This is a request by @How_not_to_be_cute and I'm so sorry it took so long! I did a fair amount of research on panic attacks so that I could write this correctly, so I hope it's okay!

Ships: WinterSpider, IronStrange

Warnings: Panic attacks (including a description of them, I.e. fast heartbeat, breathing issues, throwing up, etc.), hurt/comfort, probably swearing

Sometimes, it's strange to think that the influential, probably over powered son of both an intelligent superhero billionaire and the dramatic but powerful sorcerer who likes to play soccer mum, wasn't constantly on cloud nine.

Yet, just like every other person in the world who could feel emotions, Peter Stark-Strange wasn't having a good day.

His boyfriend, Bucky, was out on a mission with all of the Avengers, Ned and MJ were vacationing with their families, and Shuri was in Wakanda. Even his superhero friends, such as Deadpool, Daredevil, and Venom were too busy. Furthermore, Loki was busy, too!

The teenager slumped into the main living room of the tower, sighing deeply. He'd had an awful day of school, and the thought of meeting anyone new that afternoon made him sick to his stomach.

Not that there was a meeting of any sort that he knew about, but the teenager had an odd tingle - which was similar to his spider senses - when it came to socialising. And it was tingling, very much so.

So, exactly as he had fretted about, mere minutes into his arrival at the tower, Happy and his Aunt Pepper sprinted into the room, out of breath and tired.

"Peter!" Pepper cried, stress clear on her face. "We've got a surprise press meeting in 5 minutes about your new technological shoes. Get ready!"

Peter stared at them for a moment, his heart racing and his mouth becoming dry. "I- I don't think I can. I'm not feeling well..."

Pepper and Happy shared a look of concern, but they quickly came to a mental agreement through expressions, with Happy speaking up. "I'm sorry, kid, but this is important, apparently. We'll make sure it is quick."

Peter sucked in a deep breath with a mousy nod - his throat hearting as stomach swirled.

True to their words, the meeting went incredibly fast for everyone. Everyone except Peter. To the teen it felt like hours, instead of the forty minutes it had actually taken. Hours of growing panic and anxiety.

He had shakily shown off his working design for shoes with retractable wings - which could lift people up to 6 feet off the ground. Of course, the press had adored his newest invention, which Peter did not take notice of.

The moment the room was clear, the teenager sprinted off the podium and into the closest elevator. However, much to his distress, quite a few people were also crammed into the small room.

His heart beat became faster and harder than it should have, until it hit a dangerous rate for average humans. Luckily, his spider powers helped in that regard.

As an excruciatingly slow elevator ride came to an end, Peter sprinted back into the Avengers living quarters floor - running through the lounge room and to the closest bathroom.

Just as he knelt down in front of the toilet, the teen threw up the contents of his stomach - knuckles tense and white as he grabbed at the floor. His stomach was in knots, with his rapid breathing and tearful sobbing making his stay on the bathroom floor worse.

It was like ever one of his senses was screaming danger. Danger. Danger. Danger. DANGER! Yet, there was none.

It didn't take Pepper and Happy, who had followed the teenager, more than a moment to realise that Peter was having a panic attack.

"Peter? Is there anything I can do to help you?" Pepper asked softly, kneeling down in front of her nephew.

"No... just, just leave me be!" Peter replied between hearty, choking sobs. His Aunty stood up and took a few steps back, joining Happy just outside the doorway.

"I'll call the Tony, you call Bucky." Happy states, grabbing out his phone without waiting for a reply. However, Tony did not pick up - even when Happy called from his emergencies only phone.

Pepper, however, got through to cheerful but tired Bucky. "Bucky, where are you right now?"

"I'm on the roof of Avengers Tower - we just got back." Bucky replied happily, before turning serious. "Is something wrong? We're about to go into debriefing."

"Yes, you're going to need to postpone that for a little while. Peter's having a panic attack, and we need your help." The strawberry blonde replied.

There was silence for a few seconds, then Bucky spoke up. "I'll be there in thirty seconds."

True to his word, the Winter Soldier arrived in record time - walking quietly and slowly into the bathroom as to not startle his boyfriend.

"Peter? Are you doing okay?" Bucky whispered softly, placing a soft hand on Peter's.

Peter let out a rasping sob in response, shaking his head. "No- I... I can't think right! I don't know what's going on, I-"

"Hey, hey, it's okay - let it out. You probably feel like shit right now, but you'll be get through this. I'm here." Bucky replied soothingly.

They sat there for a good ten minutes, with Bucky reminding Peter too take deep breaths while whispering soothing and understanding phrases. Is Peter slowly but surely began to calm down, Bucky moved on to another tactic that helped when he had panic attacks; conversation.

"Do you want to here a story about the mission?" Bucky asked soothingly, getting a light mumble of agreement from his lightly shaking, teary eyed boyfriend.

"Well, when we got to the site, a dozen department store Santa Clauses who were trained by HYDRA were waiting for us..." Bucky explained, continuing his dramatic explanation of the event before coming to an end. "And that's why Tony is stuck inside nine metal Christmas wreaths."

Peter let out a soft, tired laugh, smiling softly with slumped shoulders. Realising that his boyfriend's panic attack was over, Bucky helped him to his feet.

The son of Ironman and Doctor Strange flush the toilet then splashed tap water onto his face, before wiping the exes water away.

"I'm sorry I couldn't display those flying shoes for the meeting today. Did you find someone else to do it?" Bucky replied as they wandered out of the room, getting an odd look from the worn out Spider-Man.

"You remembered that? None of us did. And yeah, an intern put a pair on his hands and feet without us knowing - then flew through the wall into the conference room." Peter snickered lightly, before frowning. "But I don't think we ever got then off of him..."

Just as Bucky realised what the meant, a distant scream could be heard, and that intern shot through the floor, shrieking a vine reference. "A potato flew around my room before you came~!"
