*Ruby's POV*

I get into class. People are taking seats since the teacher just arrived. "Hello class. I am so glad I got at last to meet our seniors. I am Miss Lizzy Candor. I assume most of you know me. We have a new student joining us. Miss Ruby Clarks?" She calls me in front of all the class. I raise my hand to be known. "Come here, darling." She says. Her voice is soft and sweet. She has olive skin color. Her black smooth hair is pulled to the back in a perfect bun. Her narrow asian eyes are brown. She looks like she is 30 or something. I walk slowly to the front of the class as ordered. I stand to face the class. All the seats are filled except one. I wonder who is late for his first class. The dark skinned boy from this morning catches my eye. He is whispering something to his friend next to him as they laugh together. "So, Miss Clarks. Would you like to identify yourself?" She says. I nod to her and take a deep breath. "Hi. My name is Ruby Ryan Clark. I moved here from-" I got interrupted by the door opening. The boy who was referred to as Woods this morning enters the class. "You're late, Mr. Woods." Miss Candor says as his eyes are fixed on me. I am looking at the floor. Avoiding any possible eye contact. "Please go to your seat." She says as she points to the desk behind mine. Oh no! Don't let him sit there. No! He walks to the desk and sits down. "Okay, Miss Clark. Continue, please." Miss Candor says as she looks at me with a smile. I nod. "As I was saying, I moved here from Canada. I am 18. I like music and video games." I say and finish my sentence with a friendly smile. "Thank you, Miss Clark. We are all happy to have you here." She says as all the class breaks into an applause. Woods catches my eyes. He is clapping his hands while smirking at me. I roll my eyes and walk back to my seat. Miss Candor starts talking about Biology. I listen closely to her. "Nice speech, Miss Clark." I hear him whisper to me. His voice is strong and soft at the same time. I bury myself into my notebook for the rest of the class.

"Please don't forget your essays. And think about your partner for the next class. They will be helping you with your project all year." She says as the bell rings. I get up and start to gather my stuff into my bag. People start to leave the class. "You're gonna just keep ignoring me?" I hear his voice again. This guy is getting on my nerves. I also don't really wanna get involved with any guy this year. I just wanna focus on my studies. Lily and I have made a vow that we will not have dates or guys this year at all. She says that love affects me badly. Since my last breakup with my first boyfriend ever. I knew him since middle school. We started dating in my freshman year but then he cheated on me at the end of my last year. I just felt super bad after it. So Lily wanted to make me feel better. She decided to stop seeing any guys until the end of our senior year. So that guy right here is trying so hard to flirt with me. It makes me sick. I take my bag to head outside. "You're good at it now, Clark. But, not for too long!" I hear him shout as I walk out of class. Jerk.

I went through two more classes till lunch came by. I walk into the crowded cafeteria. I find an empty table with a lot of effort. I place my tray that has one jelly-peanut sandwich, a chocolate bar, a box full of carrots and an orange juice box. I get out my phone and air pods. I place my air pods into my ears. I take a bite out of my sandwich. A tall figure of a guy places his tray on the table. He asks something but I can't hear him. I take my air pods out of my ears. "What did you say?" I ask. "I asked if this seat is taken or not?" He says. His voice is sweet. I shake my head. His skin is dark chocolate color. His hair is black and braided to the back. He is wearing a pink silky shirt with jeans. His ear has an earring attached to it. His nose is pierced as well. "Hey, my name is Ash. Ash Montoro. What is your name, new girl?" He says as he opens a bag of chips. "I am Ruby Clark. Nice to meet you Ash." I say. It is kinda awkward. I don't know what that guy wants. "Nice name Ruby kinda of a rebel's name. I like it." He says as he takes a bite from his burger. "Excuse me, but, what do you exactly want? I mean I hate to disappoint you but I can't date anyone right now." I say as he bursts into laughing. "Me? Date you? Oh girl, you're funny." He says with more laughing. Is he making fun of me right now? "And why would you not date me?" I say angrily. "Oh. Chill, mami. I am gay. I like them guys you know." He says. I am kinda not shocked. He kinda looks gay and acts gay so yeah. He is gay. "I just wanna be your friend. I don't have those many friends." He says. I feel sorry for him. "You know they think I would just take them to bed right away. It is not like I am Tobias Woods or Shane Brooks." He says. Woods?! "See those are them those two guys. The on with the dark hair and the one with the blond hair." He says as he points at Woods and Shane. Shane is that dark skinned guy back at my biology class and unfortunately history class, too. "They slept with ever girl in this school. You should be careful. They would like you. I love the hair by the way." He says. I thank him with a smile. Maybe Ash is going to be my best friend around here.
