Chapter 61
"Well, ain't this a nice surprise." Rob smiles as he opens the door to see the Fousts at his front door. "Y'all come on in."
"We just stopped by to give you something." Tim smiles as he lays his hand on the lower part of his husband's back allowing him to enter first.
"Hi, guys." Kelsey says as she comes from the kitchen. "We were just fixin to sit down and eat. Have you eaten yet?"
"No." Tim says, shaking his head. "But we just came...."
"Then come eat with us. It's been awhile." Kelsey says as she reaches out and takes their hands. "I'm not taking 'no' for an answer."
"I feel a little underdressed." Adam chuckles as he sees Chance on the couch putting on his shoes. He was dressed very nicely. Not what you would expect to wear to just lounge around the house.
"I'm taking Sami out to dinner then we're going to take in a movie." Chance explains with a smile.
"So that's why she was getting all dallied up." Tim smiles. "Could you tell Austin that Adam and I are eating here in case him and Olena wants to go do something? They could probably get Jenika to babysit."
"Sure thing." Chance nods as he collects his wallet and keys. "See you guys later." He waves as he heads out.
"So. What's been happening in the lives of Tim and Adam Foust?" Rob chuckles as he motions for them to have a seat at the table.
"Plenty." Tim laughs as he pulls a chair out for his husband.
"This past week has been pretty wild." Adam nods as he sits down. "Wow, this all looks delicious, Kelsey." He adds as he looks at the food set out on the table.
"Thank you. There's plenty so help yourself." Kelsey replies with a sweet smile.
"So how is the court case going, Adam?" Rob asks as he fills his plate.
"Very well, I think." Adam says as Tim hands him a plate of lobster tails. "I'm expecting a call from my lawyer in the next day or two with a court date. He's tieing up some loose ends on his end."
"It just blows my mind that Chris would even try something like this." Rob says as he shakes his head.
"I think it took us all by surprise." Tim says as he takes a sip of his tea.
"I mean, he's always been a little strange but I never thought he would ever turn on me like that." Adam says as he dips a piece of the lobster tail into the melted butter.
"He hates me with a passion and I don't know why." Tim shrugs. "When Adam and I got engaged, he seemed so happy for us, but now, I'm the bad guy."
"And we also found out that he was treating Jenika like crap. He didn't want her coming over because he was jealous of Tim and Austin." Adam says.
"That's crazy." Kelsey says, shaking her head. "Not only is Tim gay but he's also married. And Austin is very much in love with Olena and they have a child together."
"Well, it wasn't just me and Austin but also Chance." Tim replies.
"I hope all of this will be straightened out soon." Rob says as he pushes his empty plate aside.
"It will be." Adam says with a nod as he finishes his dinner. "And then I can wash my hands of him completely."
"How long will y'all have to stay in Minnesota?" Kelsey asks as she collects the dirty dishes.
"No longer than we need to." Tim answers. "Which brings me to the reason we stopped by." He adds as he digs his wallet out of his back pocket. "We're not going to be needing this after all." He lays the Visa card that Kelsey had given him on the table and slides it over to Rob.
"Tim, you guys are going to need this for hotel stay and food while you're there." Rob says as he pushes the card back to Tim.
"We really appreciate your generosity, Rob. But we got this." Tim smiles as he slides the card back to the bearded man.
"You don't know how long you're actually going to have to be there, Tim. That could be really expensive." Rob says as he starts to slide the card back but Adam quickly lays his hand on Rob's to stop him.
"Just stop for a minute and let us explain." Adam chuckles.
"Okay?" Rob says, folding his arms on the table. "Start talking."
"We had a visitor yesterday. He looked like one of the Blues Brothers. Dressed all in black and wearing sunglasses carrying a briefcase." Tim says.
"But it was raining yesterday, why was he wearing sunglasses?" Rob asks with a look of confusion on his face.
"Are you gonna let me talk or not?" Tim asks as he tilts his head to one side and raises a brow.
"Sorry, go ahead." Rob smiles at his friend's sassy attitude.
"His name was Thomas L. Jones but I didn't catch the name of the firm he was with." Tim shrugs.
"Little did we know but there was a big court battle going on about the car wreck that Tim and I had." Adam joins in.
"The court case was finally settled." Tim continues.
"And?" Kelsey asks as she joins them at the table.
"We just left the bank where we just deposited a check for $750,000." Adam says with a smile.
"We're rich mother f*ckers." Tim laughs.
"OH, MY GOD!! ARE YOU JOKING AROUND WITH US??!!" Kelsey shouts. On her face was a look of pure shock.
"Nope. So that's why we are not going to need this." Tim says as he picks up the card and puts it into the front pocket of Rob's shirt.
"And a few days ago, I opened us an account at the bank with the check I had been holding on to from the insurance company from my car for $17, 000." Adam grins.
"Holy sh*t, guys!! That's great news!!" Rob says.
"Oh, it gets even better." Adam continues to grin as he looks around at the puzzled expression on his husband's face. "Even Tim doesn't know how much money that I'm fighting Chris for."
"Uh, am I gonna faint again?" Tim asks. He was thinking in the range of maybe $50,000.
"Probably." Adam giggles.
"You fainted?" Rob laughs.
"Hell, yeah, I fainted. Wouldn't you if you struggled to make ends meet your entire life and then have a check thrown into your lap for $750, 000?" Tim asks with a slight chuckle. "I was out cold on the floor."
"He was." Adam laughs with a nod. "I even had a panic attack."
"I can imagine." Kelsey laughs.
"My parents had a burial policy worth over a million dollars...." Adam begins.
"Oh. My. God." Tim whispers as drops his head into the palms of his hands.
"They both wanted to be cremated which is the cheapest way to go." Adam continues with his story. "After all the funeral expenses were taken out, there was exactly one million dollars left to be split evenly between me and Chris."
"Oh. My. God." Tim whispers once again as he tries to calm his breathing.
"Chris and I were both given bank cards to the account. I had a little money already saved from the job I had in a different account so I never have used my card from the inheritance." Adam says. "The records show that my card has never been used. But Chris has used his many time including buying his house. Which I'm pretty sure that he's almost broke."
"So you should get your full $500,000." Rob smiles.
"Yep." Adam says with a huge grin.
"Oh, my God." Tim groans as he drops his head down on the table.
"That's right, my beloved Mr. Foust." Adam smiles as he leans over and kisses his husband on the head. "We are millionaires."
