"I didn't even know Rob had a sister." Chance says. The thought of a beardless Rob wearing make-up sent shivers up his spine. "That's a scary thought."
"I knew he had one but I've never seen her." Adam says.
"Rob's family moved from New Orleans to Teche while Rob was in college. He decided to stay in New Orleans. Sami was just a young girl when they moved here. She's a pretty tough cookie. She can fish, hunt and trap along with the best of them." Tim says with a smile.
"Does she wrestle alligators too?" Chance asks, still with the image of a hairy-legged Amazon woman in his mind.
"No. The gators are scared of her." Tim chuckles as he stands from the table. "Uh, I'm going to check on Austin. I'll be right back."
Tim knocks lightly on the door.
"Yeah?" Austin answers from inside.
"Hey, how you feeling?" Tim asks as he walks inside, closing the door behind him.
"Bored and tired of lying around." Austin answers as he raises up a bit and leans against the headboard.
"Listen, I want to talk to y'all about something." Tim smiles mischievously as he sits down on the side of the bed.
"Okay? Something wrong?" Olena asks.
"Two things. Rob just called. He and Kelsey are leaving town for a few days. His grandmother passed away." Tim tells them.
"Awww, well, the last time I talked to Sami, she said their grandmother wasn't doing well at all." Olena says. "She said that if the worst happens and her grandmother passes away that she might move back to Teche."
"Well, Sami is the reason I want to talk to y'all." Tim says, lowering his voice so Chance & Adam would not hear them.
"You don't want Adam to know that you guys had an affair?" Austin smiles.
"What? We didn't have no affair." Tim says with a puzzled look.
"I know, just picking at you, Bro." Austin laughs.
"Anyway." Tim says with an eye roll. "Chance and Adam has no idea what Sami looks like. I'm pretty sure from the look on Chance's face that he's imagining a female Rob."
"Oh, my God." Olena giggles. "Does he not know that Sami is Rob's half-sister?"
"Uh, no. I sort of not mentioned that." Tim says with a smile.
"So, you're wanting Chance to keep thinking that Sami looks like Alice the Goon." Austin grins. "I like that." (n/a- For all you youngsters, Alice the Goon was a character from the 'Popeye' cartoon.)
"You said two things. What's the other?" Olena asks.
"Chance and Avi are no longer together. Avi was offered a great job in California so they split on friendly terms." Tim says.
"Awww, I hate to hear that." Olena says.
"Wait." Austin says as he begins to grin. "Why do I feel that you have some sort of scheme up your sleeve?"
"Who? Me?" Tim asks with a smile.
"Yes, you." Austin chuckles. "Chance is single again. You're wanting him to think that Sami looks like something that just crawled out of the swamp. If she does come back, we all know that she is a very pretty girl. You want her looks to knock Chance's socks off."
"Maybe along with his pants." Tim chuckles as he stands up.
"Tim." Olena scolds in a quiet voice as she giggles. "But isn't Chance gay?"
"Oh, I've seen him secretly eyeing some of the Cajun beauties around here. I'm pretty sure he's Bi." Tim says.
"I can't wait to see his face." Austin chuckles. "This is going to be hilarious."
"I hope she does come back." Olena says as she gets up to check on Bailey in the baby bed. "Sami, Jenika and I were like the Three Musketeers. We miss her."
A knock on the door silences them.
"Come in." Austin says.
"I was just going to check on you one more time before heading home." Chance says as he and Adam walk into the bedroom.
"I'd feel a lot better if I could get out of this bed for awhile." Austin complains.
"Well, if you feel like it, I think it would be alright, just use your crutches and keep off that leg for awhile." Chance says with a nod.
"Bless you." Austin says as he starts getting out of bed.
"Crutches." Tim says sternly as he hands his little brother the crutches.
"Yes, sir." Austin says to his brother.
"I'll see you guys later." Chance waves as he heads out the door.
Tim waits until he hears the front door closes before speaking.
"Olena, you need to call Jenika and tell her what we talked about." Tim says.
"Gotcha." Olena says, checking on Bailey before heading to the phone.
What's going on?" Adam asks.
"Come with me, Sweetheart." Tim says as he takes Adam by the hand and leads him toward the bedroom.
As they enter the bedroom, Tim points to the bed.
"Have a seat." He says before heading to the closet. After digging around in the top of the closet, he pulls out a shoebox.
"What's in there?" Adam asks.
"Pictures." Tim says as he takes the top off the box. "I really wasn't telling Chance everything about Sami."
"Really?" Adam asks, tilting his head. "Is she as horrible as what he imagines?"
"See for yourself." Tim says as he hands Adam a photograph.
The picture was taken on the day she left Teche. It was a picture of Tim tightly embracing a beautiful young dark-haired girl. She had her head laying on his chest with both arms wrapped around him. Both were smiling sweetly at the camera.
"Wow." Adam says as he stares at the picture. He couldn't help but feel a little jealous. "That's Sami? Totally not what I was expecting."
"That's Half-Pint." Tim smiles and nods. "She's actually Rob's half-sister. Rob's mom remarried a few years after Rob's dad passed away and they had Sami."
"She's beautiful." Adam says as he hands the picture back to Tim. "You guys look , uh ... pretty close in that picture."
"We are close but not like what's going through your head right now." Tim chuckles as he puts the picture back into the box. "She's like a little sister to me. Just like Jenika and Olena. Yes, she's beautiful BUT she doesn't have what I want. You do."
Adam smiles a smile of relief as Tim kisses him on the cheek.
"Hopefully, she'll move back to Teche and you'll get to meet her." Tim says as he goes to put the box back into the top of the closet. "She's pretty badass."
"Really?" Adam chuckles. "But she's so little."
"Don't let her size fool you." Tim says as he sits back down beside his husband.
"Why did you tell Olena to call Jenika?" Adam asks as he lays his head on Tim's shoulder.
"Olena, Jenika and Sami are best friends. They were practically unseparated. We don't want her to say anything about what Sami actually looks like to Chance." Tim says with an evil grin.
"You know, come to think about it, they would make a cute couple." Adam says with a yawn.
"My thoughts exactly. We want Chance to be knocked off his feet. So we want him to keep thinking that she looks like something that crawled out of the Black Bayou." Tim chuckles.
