Chapter 32
( 5 months later )
"Hey, Tim?" Austin calls as he and Olena walks out of their bedroom.
"Hmm?" Tim answers. He's laying on the couch with his head in his husband's lap as they watch a movie.
"Uh, could you guys do us a favor?" Austin asks as he sits down on the coffee table in front of the couch.
"What's that?" Tim asks as he continues to watch the movie.
"Olena and I would like to go out on a date night. We'd like to go out to eat and maybe take in a movie." Austin says, his eyes shifting nervously from Tim to Adam.
"Yeah? So?" Tim questions as he tries to look around his brother at the television set.
"We were needing you guys to watch Bailey for us." Austin says.
"Surely, you can't be serious." Tim states as he quickly looks at his brother.
"I am serious. And don't call me Shirley." Austin chuckles nervously trying to joke using the famous line from the movie 'Airplane'.
But his brother wasn't laughing.
"Come on, Tim, please." Austin begs. "We really need this and there's no one else available."
"But, Austin, we don't know anything about taking care of a baby." Adam says.
"You'll be fine. It's just for a few hours. We'll have everything set for y'all. Bottles and everything. Please." Austin continues to beg. "If you have any problems you can call Jenika."
"A lot of good that would do." Tim says as he sits up. "She don't have any kids."
"We'll leave you the name and number of the restaurant that we'll be at. By the time we go to the movies, she'll probably be asleep." Olena adds.
Tim blows out a breath as he and Adam look at each other as if to be reading each other's minds.
"Well, I guess." Tim answers in an unhappy tone. "Just don't make this habit. We are NOT babysitters."
"THANK YOU! THANK YOU!" Austin shouts with excitement as he hugs his brother and then his brother-in-law. "We'll pay you back."
"How? By babysitting Satchmo?" Tim asks with a raised brow.

An hour after the couple leaves on their date, Tim is sitting in the chair next to the playpen. He's leaning over with his elbows resting on his knees as he stares down at his sleeping niece.
"Is this all she does?" Tim asks.
"Let's hope." Adam chuckles. "Uh, do you have any idea how to change a diaper?"
"No. You mean we have to do that too?" Tim asks as he looks around at his husband. "That wasn't part of the deal."
"I was hoping you knew how cause I sure don't." Adam smiles as he walks over and drapes an arm around his husband's shoulders. "Maybe she won't need a diaper changed until they get back."
"Are you kidding me? That's all a baby does, sleep, eat and craps in their diaper." Tim answers looking back down at Bailey.
"I really don't think my stomach could handle that." Adam says as he shakes his head. "How long does a baby usually sleep? Maybe she'll stay asleep until they get back."
"We can only hope and pray that she does." Tim replies.
The couple moves back over to the couch to cuddle and watch a game. Forty-five minutes into the game, movement inside the playpen catches Tim's attention.
"Uh, oh." Tim mumbles as he sees Bailey rolling over onto her stomach.
"Just don't panic." Adam giggles.
She begins to cry as she pushes her top half up and looks at them. Tim gets up and walks over, picking her up out of the playpen and goes to sit back down beside his husband.
"Hey, now, don't give your Uncle Tim and Uncle Adam a hard time. Okay?" Tim says as he sits her in his lap. She continues to cry.
"Try this." Adam says as he hands Tim a pacifier.
"Here ya go, Princess." Tim says softly, giving her the pacifier.
It hushes her up for thirty seconds before she throws it to the side and starts crying again.
"Okay. Now can I start panicking?" Tim asks as he bounces their niece on his leg.
"Maybe she's hungry. I'll go get her a bottle." Adam says before heading to the kitchen. A few minutes later, Adam returns with a bottle and hands it to Tim.
Bailey grabs the bottle and immediately stops crying and leans back in Tim's arms.
"Hallelujah. I'm at your mercy, King Adam." Tim chuckles.
"I'll remember you said that." Adam smirks as he turns his attention back to the game.
Things go pretty smoothly for the next hour and a half. Bailey sat content in her uncle's arms.
"No, no, no, no. Bailey, Please don't do this." Adam hears Tim mumble. "Please, tell me you're not doing what I think you're doing."
"What's she doing?" Adam asks, looking around.
"I'm pretty sure she's sh*tting." Tim says.
"Tim! Don't talk like that around her." Adam scolds.
"Okay? She's do doing, crapping, taking a dump." Tim says. "Whatever you want to call it. But either way, we're going to have to change a sh*tty diaper."
"I'm sorry, Sweetie, but there is no 'we' to it. I'll throw up if I try to do it." Adam says. "Besides, you're used to cleaning animals. Blood and guts and everything."
"Maybe so, but I don't have to wipe their asses." Tim argues.
"I'll go get a diaper and the wipes." Adam says, jumping up from the couch. As he comes back, he lays a blanket on the floor.
Tim kneels down on the blanket and lays his niece down in front of him.
"Dear, Lord. Give me strength." He mumbles as he slowly pulls the tape loose from the diaper. He slowly opens the diaper to see what he is being forced to deal with. A powerful stench reaches his nostrils causing him to gag.
"Oh, my God." Adam moans as he covers his nose and runs to the kitchen.
"Okay. I can do this. (gag) What would momma do?" He says to himself as he tries to remember seeing his mom change Austin's diaper when he was a baby.
Bailey begins to laugh at her uncle's gagging.
"Oh, Hush." Tim says as he thinks on holding his breath until he can get the job done. He tries to take a deep breath but only coughs and gags at the smell. "Well, that didn't (gags) work."
"YOU DONE YET!?" Adam yells from the kitchen.
"Well, hell naw. I haven't even started." Tim growls.
He holds his breath as he begins to clean his niece. But gagging each time he has to take breath. Each time he gags, Bailey would laugh harder.
"I'm glad you find this amusing cause I don't find it a d*mn bit funny." Tim tells her with a raised brow.
He finally manages to get her cleaned without throwing up. He picks up the new diaper, turning it from one side to the other.
"Hey, Adam?" Tim calls out. "Which way is this thing supposed to go?"
"It doesn't have a label?" Adam asks as he peeks out of the kitchen.
"Uh, no." Tim says. "There's a design on it but does it go in the front or back?"
"Maybe it doesn't matter." Adam says, walking back into the living room.
"Oh, well." Tim shrugs as he begins to try and put the diaper on the squirming baby. "I think I got it."
"We're home." Austin announces as he and Olena walks in.
"I DID IT!" Tim smiles proudly as he holds up his niece. But his smile quickly fades as the diaper falls to the floor.
