(Y/N's POV)

I was heading to the upstairs area after I did all of the required tests and whatnot, and I kept asking myself as I went towards the steps.

Y/N's mind- Why do I keep meeting the big dogs of the business world?

It must be either a kind of lucky streak I have or god has a plan for me when It comes to business. Who knows, but I will take that chance when I get good pay and benefits and all I have to do is to appease the CEO. Easy....Maybe.

I reached the door and saw Ms.Balmer sitting in front of a desk.

Ms.Balmer- Y/N, come and take a seat.

I did just that and made myself comfortable.

Ms.Balmer- Now, this is your first time here at Amazon in general you said?

Y/N- Yes.

Ms.Balmer- Do you have any driving experience of any kind?

Y/N- I do, I have been driving for Uber, and Doordash, and even tried to do Lyft for some time but didn't work out.

Ms.Balmer- I see.

Y/N- Ms.Balmer, I have a question to ask of you, how long does the temporary position last? 

Ms.Balmer- Usually, around four weeks to two months depending on your performance rate, and half of our temporary associates don't stay beyond that time frame. So, it just depends on how you do your job well and not make too many...mistakes if you will.

Y/N- Got it.

Ms.Balmer- But I have a gut feeling about you based on the look in your eyes, it tells me you can adapt to any job and work environment, it's like you were born to work.

Well, that is a bit grim.

Ms.Balmer- But anyway, I'm glad you have decided to come work for Amazon and I know you will bring smiles to your customers. 

Y/N- Great, Thank you, Ms.Balmer.

Ms.Balmer- Please, call me Brigitte. 

Y/N- OK, well I hope to see you again soon Brigitte.

Brigitte- Thank you, have a nice day. 

I walked out of the office with a proud smile, I had another score another job, which shouldn't be too much of a hassle. Plus, Brigitte sounds like a fair but no-nonsense CEO.

Y/N- Time to get a drink nearby.

(Balmer's POV)

That man Y/N, I can't believe an average-looking man could have my curiosity fire up, I wonder what kind of job history he has besides the vague ones he described. I decided to look more into him, see what I could find out, and see if he has any interesting info on his profile.

Balmer- I'll have to use a few connections for this, oh well.

If it means to satisfy my curiosity then I'll do whatever it takes. Now, let's see what kind of Amazonian you are Y/N.~

(Timeskip)

(No POV)

For the rest of the day, Y/N got everything officially unpacked and settled in his new place for a while and ordered takeout for dinner, he was making sure everything was ready to go when he officially got the email for a date to come in for orientation, but then...

*Ding*

He got an email notification and it came from the Amazon DPS HR Team, when he hit the notification, it read that the Background, Drug, and criminal checks were all submitted and approved, and also had a date to come in for orientation, it was for 10 am tomorrow. Y/N was a bit shocked to see he already was coming to his first day tomorrow, he needed to clean up and prep his outfit. After he ate his dinner, he got out a clean set of casual clothes and got in the shower. Once he was done showering, brushing his teeth, and getting ready for bed, he set his alarm and went to sleep.

(The next morning)

*BEEP BEEP BEEP!!*

Y/N hit the snooze button on his phone and slowly got up as he yawned and wiped his eyes awake, he went to the bathroom for a quick rinse, got dressed, and went to his car to head to the site. 

Sometime later...

Y/N arrived at least five minutes early and went inside to see where the orientation was, he looked around and saw a man wearing an orange vest, went up to him, and asked where to go for his first day. The man pointed to a room that said meeting room and told him to sign in when he went inside. Y/N thanked the man and did just that. How will his first day turn out?

(Y/N's POV)

I went inside and saw a clipboard with a pen and a piece of paper that said sign-in sheet. I wrote my name and took a seat at the second table. A few people were doing the same, now we are to wait until either everyone shows up or a manager of some kind shows up too and get started. We ended up waiting for about 8 more minutes until I heard the door open and saw a younger man wearing a red vest with a laptop in his hand.

"Sorry, I'm late everyone, had to take care of something on the way here. Now, with that out of the way, let's do introductions. Now, I am Marcus Parker but you can call me either my first or last name, it's fine."

The first person went first and their name was Shawn, the second went up and it was Gloria, and the third person before me was named Alex. I was next and I told everyone my first name.

Marcus- Great, nice to meet you all. But if I remember correctly, there should've been a few more people here today but I see only four of you. Let me check, hold on a minute.

Now that he mentioned it, we are a very small group and I'm guessing the people who didn't show up either forgot or did a no-show which I admit I have done in my high school days more times than I could count, but I learned the hard way to never do that.

Marcus- OK, well it looks like the other five who were supposed to be here but didn't show up will never do. Oh well, I suppose let's get the orientation started with videos and do some fun ice-breaker games.

Y/N's mind- Now, here comes the most boring yet easiest part of a new job. 

(Timeskip)

After a couple of hours of videos, some paperwork, and icebreaker excuses, Marcus had us stand up and follow him out of the room and go inside more of the DPS site.

Marcus- Everyone, take a look at your new workplace and see what catches your eye.

I looked around and saw a cool-looking van, I wondered if it was the rarer new models I had seen out on the road sometime in the past.

I was amazed by it and I heard Marcus voice calling my name.

Marcus- Wanna look inside Y/N?

I nodded happily and he unlocked the door I stepped inside, I saw a sleek-looking dashboard and everything was electronic, and also saw it was a bit more spacious.

Marcus- It's the only new model here and unfortunately, you won't be driving it as you will drive the standard one. But maybe if you get a full-time position here and stay here for a few more years, I think you get to drive one.

I was a little disappointed that I won't drive this puppy but I understood what he said and I stepped out of the van. 

Marcus- Let's continue the tour ok?

Y/N- Sure.

I looked at the van one last time before I caught up with everyone else, and he showed us more of the place and introduced us to other associates and leadership.

Y/N's mind- I think this won't be a bad temporary job.

(Timeskip)

It was close to 4 pm and the day ended with us coming back inside the site as we were just at the van yard with Marcus showing us the normal vans and talking to us about basic safety lessons and how we will do driving training tomorrow. We got back to the meeting room, re-introducing ourselves again and heading out for the day. I was the last one out but Marcus called for me, I went to the desk he was at and wanted to see what he wanted.

Y/N- What's up?

Marcus- Sorry to call you here so soon but I was supposed to pass a message from someone in the company. 

Y/N- Yeah?

Marcus- I quote: "Sorry I couldn't make it on your first day but let me say, welcome to Amazon and I promise to make it tomorrow."

Y/N- Do you know who told you to say that?

Marcus- I don't know, I got it from an email with no name but I knew it was someone from the company as it had the unique Amazon email address but again no name.

Y/N- Weird.

Marcus- Same but I'm sure it was nothing bad at all but I must ask, do you know anyone at Amazon that comes to mind?

I wanted to mention Brigitte but I didn't want to think of me as a liar cause I somehow knew he would call that bullshit so I didn't say anything to avoid that so I lied.

Y/N- Nope.

Marcus- I see, well anyway that's all for now. Welcome, by the way. 

Y/N- Thanks Marcus, well see you tomorrow. 

I waved bye to him and headed to the exit of the place thinking what I should do now.

*Stomach rumbling*

Well, the first thing is to grab a bite to eat, so I looked for a nearby Burger King or something.

(Marcus's POV)

I got ready to head out for the day as the evening manager had come in already, I packed my files, and laptop with everything else on it ready to go. I grabbed my coat, headed to the exit, and went to my car which was only a couple of minutes away from the entrance. I made it to the car to put everything away and went to turn on the engine, I heard footsteps coming my way and it sounded like High Heels. I looked to see who it was and my heart stopped on who it was.

"Hello, Mr.Marcus."

Marcus- M-Ms.Balmer, how are you?

Ms.Balmer- Alright but I'm not here for small chit-chat, tell me, have you already given Mr.Y/N the message?

Marcus- What message was it again?

Ms.Balmer- *Sigh* It was the one from your email box, the one that said...

She said the same message from the unnamed email address, then it hit me.

Marcus- That was you, Ms.Balmer?

Ms.Balmer- Indeed, but let me ask again, did you say the message to him?

Marcus- Y-yes I did.

Ms.Balmer- Good, but I need to discuss some other business regarding Y/N L/N.

Oh boy, I wonder what the man said or did to make the no-nonsense Ms.Balmer so interested, as she is rarely like this at all.

Marcus mind- I can't tell if he is lucky...or unlucky for that matter.

A/N: I know this book hasn't been updated in a very long time but I just wanted to say to the people who commented for a new chapter on this book, thank you for being so patient with me and sticking around, and now...here it is.
