Gauti wrapped an arm around Omkara's waist as she led him back into the house. Nani had told them to return to India, away from Omkara's godforsaken parents and back to the life they used to live.

Gauri sat Omkara down, then stepped back, her eyes clouded with emotion as she passed him a glass of water and two tablets, all day she had tried to hold herself together but the fear that Omkara would once again try to take his life was all consuming

She was truly at a loss, what did she do? What did she not do?
It was the situations no one spoke about that were the hardest to deal with, where did they even go from here?
Acting like a happy married couple again wasnt an option

Omkara cleared his throat "Gauri, please stop staring at me like that"

She blinked, shaking her head "Sorry, im just worried"

"Im not going to go and commit suicide again if thats what you're worried about"

And this time, it was Gauri who flinched. She knew that, but did he have to be so brazen about it?
"Is it so wrong if that's what I am worried about, you nearly died Omkara, im so scared ill close my eyes and you'll be gone again, I dont know what I can do or what I shouldn't incase I push you to far, I just"

Gauri covered her eyes with her hand, her shoulders shook as she sobbed, Omkara stood up, holding her shoulders, he then raised her chin, pulling her hand away from her eyes
"You be you, thats enough, I can't apologise enough for what I have put you through"

But his words only seemed to make her cry more
"It shouldnt be you apologising, this isnt your fault, this is your uncle's and your parents and the stupid society that we live in, but not yours, never yours"

"But still I have made mistakes, I should have talked to you, I didn't, that was wrong, I should have treated you better Gauri, I got lucky with you, I shouldnt have taken that for granted" he released a heavy sigh, then pulled out an envelope from the drawer and handed it to her

Gauri's fingers shook, was this divorce papers? She ripped off the top, pulling the papers out, her eyes scanned the words, then she looked up tearfully "You want to file a complaint against your uncle, are you, are you sure" she asked

He nodded "I found a lawyer willing to take my case, it wasn't easy and hes from New York, thats what I was doing when I went there, but then you turned up and my plans failed, I acted on instinct and did what I did"

"You were gonna" her voice broke "You were gonna come back to me"

Omkara nodded "How could I not, I love you Gauri, throughout this all you have been my saving grace and so I want to do this for you, for us, to be the man you deserve"

Gauri swiped quickly at her tears "I love you too, dont ever scare me like that again" she wrapped her arms around his waist, clinging on like her life depended upon it

"So, now I have your statements and the pictures of your scars, I think I can show this to a court and get an arrest warrant for him" spoke the lawyer as the officer nodded along

Gauri held Omkara's hand the whole way, she leant forward kissing his cheek. She could never imagine how hard he was finding this.
She traced circles on the side of his hand with her thumb in an effort to calm both their nerves

Omkara stood up, Gauri stood next to him, her eyes widened as Omkara outstretched his hand for them to shake
His eyes closed tightly as they shook his hand, but he didnt move

She smiled, pride filling her heart. He turned, pulling her outside and they walked towards his car.
"Omkara, I just wanted to say how proud I am, you're doing so well and I"

Omkara turned back around, his face crumpled.

Gauri pulled him closer, wrapping her arms around him "Its okay Omkara, you've done so well" she soothed as she rubbed his back, "Its okay to find this hard, but we can do this and youre not doing it alone, all those lawyers that refused your case well thats their loss, because this case will change the world, all those that never believed you or judged you dont matter, you know why"

"Why" he whispered against her neck

"Because youre better than them, because I love you and because you are strong"

Omkara gripped her waist tighter "I dont know what id do without you"

Gauri laughed "Good thing youll never have to learn"

Omkara looked over as Anika and Shivaay walked into their house.

Anika smiled, holding out Shivaay's niece to Gauri, "Guess who got put on babysitting duty"

Gauri held her arms out, taking the little girl, she pressed a kiss to her cheek and smiled
"Hi baby, you're beautiful aren't you" she cooed

Omkara couldnt help but think of what he was taking away from Gauri. She was so good with children and he knew she had wanted a child one day, for so long he had been selfish and had never bothered with worrying for her wants or needs

Gauri turned around "You want to hold her"

He jumped up "I may break her, she's so small" he whispered harshly

Gauri shook her head, "Come here, ill show you"

Omkara shook his head

"Please" she asked, making him sigh and walk over

Gauri placed her in his arms "Support the head with this part of your arm, keep that hand under her back and rock gently"

Omkara looked down, a small smile on his face as he rocked her, Gauri grabbed her phone, taking a picture, then slipped her phone into her back pocket

The baby started to cry, Gauri went to take her when Omkara shook his head, he hummed softly, rocking her.
Gauri halted, tears filling her eyes at the image of him with a baby

Anika nudged her arm and winked at her "Thats good father material right there, I really hope you both get to experience it one day"

Gauri nodded "Me too, me too"

It was just under a month later when the final court hearing was under place. The judge awaited the jury to make their decision, Gauri looked over at Omkara who was stood in the box. She nodded her head at him, trying to assure him everything would be okay.

The Jury stood up, one by one saying their verdict, it was currently 6 for guilty, 4 for not guilty.

Gauri gripped her legs, her breathing rapid as the final 2 made their verdict "Guilty" they spoke

She stood up, her hand on her stomach as she gasped.
He was taken away as Omkara walked towards her

Gauri buried his face in his hands, falling to his knees as he sobbed.
Gauri knelt before him

"Its over, its over, you did it Omkara"

Omkara looked up "No, Gauri" he wiped his tears "We did it, I wouldnt have been able to do this without you, all my life I was missing something, craving something, it took me to long to realise that the thing I was craving was you"

She smiled, pulling him up, she held his hand as they stepped outside to the many people smiling and clapping for them, congratulating them on their strength and persistence.

Hello all. First of all, I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the overwhelming support this story has had.
Wether its people being able to relate to going through similar situations or just finding the story interesting and eye opening.
All of you who have read, commented etc have shown just how great you all can be and that change is possible, if only the world is full of people as great as you all are.
