— RAE PUT HER PHONE back down with a smile on her now kiss swollen lips, switching it to be put on silent after the groupchat began to spam her with apologies and begs to hear the details on how everything came to life, but instead, they could wait. after that reaction, raelynn would, in fact, make them mellow in the consequences of their own actions while snickering at their agony. her gaze trickled back over to her bike, then tristan, then the bike again, obviously weighing her decisions.

she wanted to leave, as she could feel the coldness nipping at her skin and numbing her like she was apart of the dead, but she also wanted this moment to last forever and more. to be honest, who wouldn't?

she finally got almost everything she ever wanted. a nice and swell addition to the friend group, perhaps a boyfriend, a slight moment of fame (which was enough in her head to be idealized as a celebrity in her world with her girls), and happiness. now she'd just have to go home, suck it up, eventually tell her parents, and maybe — just maybe patch everything up with her brother after he made her feel like she had quite literally lost all will to live.

maybe that was dramatic (obviously), but that's how she felt. she felt so much about it yet nothing at all, and raelynn wondered why it was that way. tristan slid his hand up to her wrist, tapping once, knocking her out of whatever rabbit hole she slid down like she was alice and he was the white rabbit, their eyes eventually meeting, and she hummed. "sorry. i'm just really cold and i miss my bed." her lips pursed into a slight frown, resembling one of a upset puppy, and tristan shook his head, smiling at her. he understood, yet, he wanted her to stay. obviously he wanted her to stay. he wanted her; period, and that was everything he wanted in life summed up.

he let out a tsk, plucking her hand in response, earning a sneer from her as she smacked his hand a bit and retracted it, shooting him a glare, to which he just pouted. "first, ow," he began, sure he'd have a red mark left on his skin thanks to her immediate response to him. he couldn't blame her, she grew up with grayson. he'd react the same damn way if he was plucked. "second, i'm not holding you captive, baby. you're free to go. though, i will expect a call the second you go to relax because relaxation is not a thing when i'm not with you." he'd totally cringe at himself if he wasn't so deathly in love with this girl.

the girl pondered. and pondered. and, guess what? pondered some more. but after a moment, she shrugged, pushed herself up, watched as he followed in pursuit, and stood in front of him. they both were lost in their own minds on how the other was just so utterly stunning it nearly scared them.

"then i'll be going. um, thank you. for tonight." she offered a sweet upturn of her lips, and he melted on the spot. without allowing him to reply, she pulled him in for a hug, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek, pulled back, and took a few steps backwards, keeping her gaze on him. "i'll call you when i'm home!" rae called out, turning her back on him and rushing to her bike.

just like that, she slid on it and left while he waved after her, smiling to himself over the entire ordeal they just went through. at least he wouldn't have to yearn in silence for the next seven years like he expected himself to, and at least he had his girl now. all seemed good in his eyes.

now, all he had to do was somehow get brady and the rest of his friends together.

this will be the final chapter as far as i'm concerned because they got their happy ending!! and because it's like all i can push out of me as i have lost all motivation for this fandom and probably can't offer anymore 😔.

i apologize for that, but i hope everyone that has stayed for like the past two years of this book enjoyed what they read. if you did, please let me know! i might also be making a bonus chapter or 2 like i did for hellraiser so the others can get their ending too.
