The Alpha fingers gently massaged my thigh and ever so slightly inched a little higher when I looked out the window.

He thought he was being subtle, but it was far from it.

I should've stopped him, slapped his hand away, but I didn't. His touch made me nervous and excited at the same time.

He teased me with his touch and if I felt this way right now, I didn't what would happen if he actually – wait, what the hell?

No no, not again.

I couldn't and shouldn't be having such thought. I mentally shook my heads to clear out the dirty thoughts and this time, I actually smacked his hand.

"Ow, what was that for?" I questioned angrily.

"Just drive," I said, looking straight ahead, and folding my arms on my chest.

I also squeezed my thighs together to not think and feel what he made me feel just moments ago because now all I could think about was his hands roaming on my body.

I heard him sigh from beside me, but didn't give a second glance.

As strange as it was and how much I wanted to deny the fact, I couldn't. I wanted him. I wanted this big bad scary werewolf and it fucking scared me.

This was not how it was supposed to be.

My only purpose was to get the answers I needed and to serve my punishment to save my friends – nothing more and nothing less.

All of a sudden, we came to an abrupt halt at the ride of the road in the middle of nowhere. This road was flanked by lush green forests on both sides. I wondered why the Alpha had stopped the car.

"We need to go on foot from here."

I looked at him skeptically and glanced over his shoulder at the deep forest. I wasn't going to set foot in there. Moreover, I didn't know how long it would be until we reached out destination.

"You might want to change that," he said looking down and pointing at my boots.

No way in hell I was going to listen to him.

I got out of the car before he could jump at the opportunity to open the door for me and act all gentlemanly.

He followed suit and waited for me at his side of the door.

I was still not sure about going into the woods, but what choice did I have? Technically, none since I was his prisoner.

Shaking my head, I took a step in the direction of the forest, but the Alpha caught my wrist and gently pulled me back.

My body collided with his hard chest and I closed my eyes, pleading myself to not imagine how it would feel under my fingers.

I could feel the heat creeping onto my cheeks as my breathing turned labored when he moved my hair aside and placed a soft kiss where the neck and shoulder blade met – the right spot where werewolves marked each other.

"Don't fight this, Echo. Don't fight me," he whispered as his breath fanned the back of my neck.

I shuddered.

The Alpha let out a dark chuckle knowing the effect he had on my body. My own body had betrayed me for his touch.

Needing space from him and getting over with wherever he wanted to take me, I elbowed him in the stomach and stepped away.

The Alpha growled as always.

Maybe I was getting used to all the growling and roaring way too soon.

"How is your hand?"

"Still numb like before. How long before we reach our destination?"

"Come on, let's go. We should reach before sunset," he said ignoring my question.

I let him take the lead because I had no idea where we were going. I also ended up making faces at him when he wasn't looking. Stupid fucking Alpha mutt.

I walked closely behind him, a little afraid that I might get lost in these woods. This was a completely unknown territory for me and by the looks of it, it also seemed that not a lot of wolves wandered around here and I wondered why.

The leaves crunched below our feet as we moved ahead. It was the only sound along with our breathing that echoed in this forest. I could hear no bird and no insect which was definitely strange.

It was eerily quiet for some reason and ended up giving me the creeps with each step that I took.

In general, I wasn't someone who would get scared easily, but it was just something about this forest that made me move closer to the Alpha and grab onto his arm.

I was looking in every direction as if waiting for something to jump us, but it never happened expect for the man's voice to my left.

The Alpha glanced at my hand on his arm and raised an eyebrow which got me to pull back. What was I thinking?

I cleared my throat and apologized.

"Not that I mind your hands on my-"

"Don't...don't even finish that sentence."

"Why? Scared that you'll realize what your body already wants?" He laughed.

I wasn't going to regard that question with an answer. My plan right now was to ignore him and keep my hands to myself, no matter how I felt.

I'd managed to survive this long; another couple of minutes would be a piece of cake or so I thought.

The sun was setting and my feet were killing me. I really wanted to stop for a minute and take a breather. I was no longer a werewolf and didn't have so much stamina as they did, but I was more tired than usual.

While I was tired and panting, the Alpha hadn't even broken a sweat. It was as if all this walking didn't happen.

"I need a minute," I mumbled as I took the support of the tree to my right.

I slowly leaned against it and closed my eyes. My entire body ached and I would give anything to sleep on a bed right fucking now.

I could feel the Alpha moved closer to me. He brushed the hair out of my face and involuntarily, I leaned into his touch.

I know I said I would stay away, but rationality could go fuck itself.

"How much longer?"

"Just a little more, baby. Come on."

I vigorously shook my head for I didn't want to move and I stayed rooted to my spot even though the Alpha nudged me.

"The sun is setting, Echo. We don't have much time."

"No, I can't. I am very tired." And I honestly was. I could feel my body going limp against the tree.

"I know, baby, I know. But we need to keep moving. It's just a little ahead."

"Please..."

I could feel myself dosing off even when I felt my body jerk twice. I paid no heed to it because I no longer had any strength left. A moment later everything was quiet and my consciousness slipped into darkness.
