Time jump: 6 months

Spencer woke up and checked his clock, he jumped out of bed realizing he was about to miss the bus "perfect way to start the last day of school" he thought to himself. He got dressed as quickly as he could, brushed his teeth and ran downstairs, straight to the door "woah woah hey, what's the rush i haven't even finished making breakfast" he turned to look at Alex, officer Sloan's wife "sorry misses Sloan, but I'm late for my bus and i don't wanna miss it" "well first of all please call me Alex, ive told you before you're part of the family now and second of all, you're not late for the bus, it doesn't come for another hour" she gestured to the clock 7.15am "that's weird, i couldve sworn my alarm clock said 8.05am" they were both confused, then realized it and looked at eachother "Zack" they both said at the same time, Spencer shook his head and sat down at the table with Alex "that kid really hates me, doesn't he" she laughs a little "no, he doesn't hate you actually, he really likes you" Spencer furrowed his eyebrows in confusion "then why does he keep messing with me" "It's because he likes you, he's 8 Spencer and he's never had an older brother, he just has Lindsay and Kate, now don't get me wrong he loves his sisters but it's nice for him to have someone to play with or to talk to" "you sure he doesn't hate me?" "Yeah kid, I'm sure" she smiles softly and nods her head, Spencer stops worrying about it and hopes that shes right. Spencer looks around and then back at Alex "Did dad leave for work already?" "Yeah he had to go in early for some paperwork he had to finish, why did you need something?" "I was actually just gonna ask him if he could help me find a job, you guys did so much for me and i just wanna try to help out a little" "you know you don't have to do that right, we're all happy to have you here you've always been like part of the family ever since Mark first met you, we didn't even think twice about bringing you in when we heard what happened" she smiled sweetly "i know and I'm incredibly grateful, that's why i wanna help out" "well tell you what, when Mark gets home we can talk about it but right now if you wanna help me, please go wake everyone up so we can eat breakfast before you guys go off to school" "ok sure" he woke everyone up and they ate breakfast together before leaving to catch their busses, Zack went to a different school then the others since he was in elementary and they were all in highschool. Spencer went through his first two classes pretty quickly, then went to find his best friend so that they could grab lunch together. He hadn't seen her all day so he just went straight for her locker and laughed a little when he saw her drop her stuff "oh shut up, they slipped jackass" he put his hands up in defense "hey, i never said anything!" She glared at him "i heard you laughing" "yeah well its not my fault you're so clumzy" "shut up and help me pick these up" he rolled his eyes, smiled and knelt down to help her pick up the books. She angrily took the books from him and put them in her locker "Dove?" He asked while furrowing his eyebrows "what!?" She said angrily, almost yelling "what's wrong?" He asked sweetly, he could tell something was bothering her since she barely ever got angry and when she did it was only because something was wrong and she didn't want to show it. She sighed and closed her locker "i'm sorry, im just annoyed i heard the Josh tell his friends that he was gonna shoot his shot with the girl he likes, he even called her his "dream girl" " she adds annoyed quotation marks at the last two words, Spencer gives her a sad look "i'm sorry, i know how much you like him" she shrugs sadly "whatever, i was stupid to think i ever had a shot with him i mean seriously look at HIM and look at ME" Spencer suddenly turned angry and she noticed him clenching his jaw "i swear to god Emma if i hear you say one more bad thing about yourself i will never talk to you again" she was a little taken by surprise he never called her Emma and he was rarely ever mad at all, never at her. She just nodded in return and his face softened "come here" he held out his arms and she hugged him, she pulled away smiling "come on you big idiot, lets go get lunch" she playfully punched him in the arm and they started walking to the door talking about random things when someone approached them and they both stopped "hey, can i talk to Emma for a second" Spencer smiled at Josh "yeah, sure" he turned to his friend "I'll wait outside" she nodded at him and he left. "Hi" she smiled at Josh who for some reason seemed nervous, rubbing the back of his neck "um h-hi can i ask you something?" She was a little confused, she had never seen him so nervous "um ok sure, what's going on" he smiled softly "i just wanted to ask you if you wanted to go catch a movie or something" if she wasn't confused before, she definitely was now "you mean like a date? But i heard you talk to your friends about asking out the girl you liked, your 'dream girl' " she looked at him confused "yeah um thats kind of what I'm doing right now" her eyes went wide "y-you like me?" "Yeah i do, i like you alot actually" they both smiled at eachother and continued talking before Emma went outside to meet her best friend and tell him everything over lunch.
