Dream the Vampire doesn't always sleep well at night

I mean, come on. He's nocturnal now. He's kinda screwed up by being awake during the day but he really has trouble sleeping at night

So when he can't sleep, he sneaks out for a night on a town and hoes it up.

By which I mean he makes sure he has those blood supplements on hand, stays in bat form, and actively seeks out belly rubs. And head pats. And all the love.

He makes sure he finds the real animal lovers too.

Like, he'll hang from a lamp fixture or sit on a table and cutely squeak and act clueless when some human awwws at him and beckons him to come over and let them let him.

There are some people who are like 'awwww I wish I could pet you but you probably have rabies' but that's reasonable

It's really the little kids he's looking for like

"Mommy oh my gosh lookie it's a cute fuzzy thing with wings can I pet it" "no- hEY GET BACK HERE WHAT DID I JUST SAY" and Dream just looks clueless and innocent and soaks up the attention

Nightmare wonders what the fuck is going on because there's random moms suddenly going into worry mode and random people getting that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you pet something cute and he's just so confused

Ink and Blue are suspicious because? He hasn't been sleeping but he seems fine? For a while they pass it off as the whole nocturnal thing but then Ink is up because his happiness vial hasn't worn off and he can't fuckin sleep he has to do something and he sees Dream sneaking out and closing the door behind him

Like? Wh? Where? Why?

Wakes up Blue and tells him but Blue just tells him to go the fuck to sleep it's eleven at night jfc dude stop taking your vials so late my god

In the morning they devise a plan to follow him and honestly they'd do it anyway even if Dream wasn't a vampire now because they wanna see if he's meeting some secret significant other or something. The added problem of vampire suggests that perhaps they should be a lil worried and they go disguised as some random humans and watch as Dream is just a little attention sponge

And then he spots them watching like 'awww' and flies over looking for love and thinking they're random people and they go along with it

Dream never got as much love from random strangers as he did from them

He hoped to find them again if he went out

It's a thing now

Sometimes Blue's too tired though and Ink goes alone, or one of them is injured, but Dream can usually count on at least one of them waiting to give him belly rubs and he loves it and never figures it out

There is no drawback here other than maybe running out of supplements but he always makes sure he has plenty, otherwise he doesn't go
