Meetings Part 3
apparently i forgot to post this one
also wheeze helped with the dialogue for this a bit :]
Ink kicked her leg slowly off the back of the couch. Nothing was holding her attention right now. Cross was gone, doing god knows what, and Ink was regretting not going with her.
Cross's incessant talking had been getting on her nerves, and she'd wanted some time to herself, but now she couldn't find anything to do. Cross had brought her a drawing pad and some pencils (by her request), and they'd stolen a Nintendo Switch, and more movies, but Ink didn't want any of it.
She didn't know what she did want, though. She was just bored.
Her mind kept flitting back to some of their horror movies. She was morbidly curious just how realistic some of the screams were. And some of the gore.
She just...wanted to test some things out.
These thoughts revolved around and around in her mind.
She'd need tools for it, if she did decide to do it. But she also needed to make sure she wasn't caught, which was always the hard part. The horror villain gets away with things often in horror movies, but those are just movies. It doesn't work like that in reality, unless you're some supernatural being, or really, really good at hiding.
She supposed Cross' universe was a fairly good place to hide, but Cross might be an issue. She didn't want to hurt Cross, though; she was grateful for the company, and being given a place to stay, even if it was vast empty void that made Ink wanted to scream sometimes. If Cross had problems with Ink's....experiments, however, this would no longer be a safe hiding spot, and Ink didn't know where else to go...
As she continued to ponder this issue, a portal opened up somewhere behind the couch. Ink assumed it was Cross.
"You're back early," she called, not moving from her position.
"I apologize, but I don't believe you have the right person. I don't recall ever coming here before."
...That was definitely not Cross. It was way too deep, authoritative, and calm. Ink righted herself on the couch and turned to look at whoever the hell had ended up here this time.
Now that she was paying attention to the man, she noticed something she could only describe as an aura. Something in the air made her feel...happy. Content. Calm. Relaxed.
He stepped closer, and the feeling got stronger. He was a tall, blonde man with brown skin, and huge golden glowing wings. They were spread wide, and combined with his perfectly straight posture, it made him look like he thought he was some kind of royalty. He wore khaki slacks, and a big orange fluffy jacket over a button-up shirt. There was a sword strapped to his belt, it's scabbard ornately decorated. It looked way too fancy to be taken into a fight.
"....Who the fuck are you?"
The man's expression was oddly calm, with a relaxed smile. "Dream. It is a pleasure to meet you."
Ink resisted the urge to her eyes. "Sure it is. Did you come here on purpose, or...?"
Dream folded his hands behind him. "I run an organization called Justice Reigns, and our goal is to create a perfect world. We noticed this universe a few days ago and have been keeping an eye on it."
She raised an eyebrow. "Creepy."
The man shook his head, still with that lazy grin. "Please don't misunderstand; it is our duty to watch over every universe in our ever-expanding multiverse. Yours simply happened to be the latest development. A very odd one, might I add."
"The hell is that supposed to mean?"
"You arrived here unintentionally, yes?" Dream inquired. "With no memories of anything before, save your name?"
Ink blinked.
"And you're currently living here with your friend, stealing food and luxuries?" he added, glancing at the couch and television. His expression had barely changed, it was freaky. "I would like to offer you a position at JR. If you're interested, I could help you find something that would best suit your talents and interests."
Ink opened her mouth to speak, but Dream held up his hand. "Before you answer, I believe it would interest you to know that JR has an on-site hospital and apartment complex with a swimming pool. Normally we don't give apartments away, but I don't expect you to have much money, so something could be arranged for a few months if you were interested."
"How do you have an on-site apartment complex and a hospital?"
"Ah- apologies. JR's main building is a castle."
Ink stared at him. "...If you got good healthcare and dental i'm fucking sold."
The corner of Dream's mouth twitched upwards in something almost resembling a real smile.
Cross returned from her GameStop raid just in time to see Ink leaving through a portal with a strange man with glowing wings.
