Like I said in Nightmare's post, the villagers actually worshipped Dream. From a very very young age. Nightmare was the only person around who questioned this and since it started when they were fucking tiny they assumed this must be correct. They didn't really understand how and nightmare eventually realized that that's stupid actually dream's mostly just a guy, but unfortunately Dream did not realize that he was Mostly Just A Guy

anyways he still has that god complex. It has not gotten any better and has gotten a bit worse

One day he was thinking about how many things Sucked, and then remembered that he was a god and could fix things. 'remembered' being used loosely

and so he munched a buncha apples

His radiance is VERY reactive to all negativity, including his own negative emotions. It could kill Nightmare. It can't kill Dream himself or normal people but it sure do hurt

because of this Dream has taught himself to smother all of his negative emotions. It took a while but he eventually managed. His aura kinda 'fills in the gaps' where the negative emotions were so he's very calm most of the time. He looks stoned 

also because of this he has a very strong magic suppressor in his apartment because it makes his aura calm tf down and he can relax and let himself feel things. The ones in the max security cells are the only other aoe magic suppressors that are as strong

He's trying to make a Perfect World, by his definition of that. And he's a god so of course he's always in the right. He can't do anything wrong

But since he's of course right, everyone who disagrees with JR's policies and what they do has to be...dealt with.
