So this actually starts with Blue managing to kidnap Error

error is not going to take that shit though. She fights back. Blue isn't going to just take it either. they both end up dead

Cross and Nightmare eventually find Blue's house and their bodies and are upset

to put it very mildly

In their grief for Error they're not super careful, and Nightmare gets caught by JR

Dream is very happy with this and comes down to talk to Nightmare a lot

Nightmare isn't super thrilled to be talking to him right now but Dream's very persistent, and since Cross isn't there he needs...he needs to talk to someone about what happened to Error

Meanwhile Cross is losing her shit, understandably so

Error's dead and now Nightmare's in JR and Dream's probably already fucking with his head and- god she has to get him out of there she can't lose both of her best friends

she tries to break him out. On her own. from an organization that doesn't particularly want her alive run by someone who wouldn't be upset if she somehow ended up dead

Nightmare's hoping Cross won't do anything stupid to try and get him out, but he's also scared that nothing from her means something horrible has happened

and he's right

Eventually, when Nightmare's starting to trust Dream more, Dream tells him that, regretfully, Cross was killed recently by some of the guards while trying to break in. He's very sorry, he told the guards not to use excessive force if she showed up, he knows how close they were

and nightmare believes him

Nightmare doesn't get any real therapy, he and Dream just get to be friends again but it's probably not good for Nightmare

like delusion's not going to hurt him but as a general rule friendships that are held together with brainwashing aren't the healthiest

They're best friends again!!!! Just like old times!!!!!!!

they have to do a lot to convince the public that Nightmare's Good now and it doesn't work completely

But people are starting to realize a trend with the people who are going missing

they decide that so long as nightmare's not murdering people still and Dream's not being like 'no he's not he's fine <333' then they're not going to cause a fuss

unfortunately that is still happening. They're just covering it up better

Nightmare does reign it in a bit but he's eager to help if Dream ever needs someone...taken care of.
