Prologue: Escape
(Ty's POV)
I bit my lip. Glancing around to check that they weren't there, I took a deep breath and placed my palms against the glass walls which contained my breathing supply. I pushed harder and harder until they broke, letting water come rushing in. Taking a deep breath, I dove into the ocean and began swimming upwards. I could feel my lungs screaming for air, but I forced myself to keep going; it wouldn't be long before they discovered I had escaped. I saw a glimmer of light above me and madly began paddling, trying to reach the sun. My lungs were practically empty and I could barely breath. If they were going to give me gills, I thought, the least they could do was make them usable immediately. I gave it one last kick and broke the surface, taking a deep breath.
I turned and saw land. Land, for the first time in probably weeks. I treaded water for a second to catch my breath and then started swimming for it, walking as soon as I could. I reached the sand and fell down, panting, leaving a wet spot all around me from my drippping clothes. I had done it; I had escaped. It wouldn't be long before they got over losing me. They'd just find someone else. But... I was the only one who knew. The only one who had made it out. I had to tell somebody. I stood up, caked in wet sand, and brushed some of it off, heading into the woods towards what looked to be a house.
Welp, there's my prologue. I hope you (whoever it is who is bored enough to read it) enjoy!
