(Jason's POV)

“And then I said, 'It looks like butter!'” Quentin grinned as Adam finished telling the story of the butter incident that had ensued in my house. He had started telling it when Quentin had asked what his amulet was and he had responded 'butter'.

Ty was leading the procession. We had stayed in the town the previous night after adding Quentin to the group and now were continuing to nobody knew where. My thoughts were that Ty was going to keep walking until he knew we had warned every person in the world, but all I did was scratch Dillon behind his ears. I still had no clue what we were going to do even if we did warn everybody. Wait everything out? Hope that Dan back in the town could organize an army?

Listening to Adam's back story had made me think of something. How had Adam and Ty met? I remembered something Ty might have said at my house, before the squids attacked:

“To be honest, squids captured me and when I escaped, I was right outside Adam's house.”

I shook my head. He had laughed just before he had said that, and he had probably been looking for something to use as proof. It most likely wasn't true.

Eventually, we decided to stop moving and camp for the night. We hadn't brought another tent because mine was big enough, and with Quentin's help we had a fire and a tent sent up quickly. We all crawled inside, said our 'goodnights', and drifted off to sleep with Dillon on 'guard duty'.

I woke in the middle of the night. Something had made noise, and I knew it wasn't Dillon. I crawled over Quentin's and Adam's bodies, stepping outside. I stood in front of the coals that were left over from the fire and strained my ears. I had the feeling that there was something close by. I considered going back in and waking Ty in case it was a squid.

Dillon flew over to me and landed on my shoulder. Out of habit, my hand reached up and scratched him, but my other was clenched at my side. I knew somebody was there.

As if to confirm my suspicions, at that exact moment a person stepped out from behind a tree. I almost jumped forward and punched him then, but then I realized that I was thinking way too aggressively. I wasn't Ty. “Who are you?” I asked.

He stepped forward into the moonlight, so that I could see him better. He had brown hair and brown eyes, and was wearing a purple hoodie with a red creeper face on the front. He also had a backpack slung over his shoulder. “Are you traveling?” he asked.

I thought about that. “Yeah,” I said finally. “But there are three other people in my group.”

“Could I join you? Safety in numbers,” he explained.

I blinked. Another person, straight out coming to our campsite in the middle of the night? I considered what he had said, but then I decided that Ty, as our mutually elected leader, should probably make the final decision. “You can stay for the night,” I told him. “But Ty's going to have to decide.” What had I just said? Was this random person I had just met about to join our group? I hadn't even told him about the squids!

I looked back at him, only to discover that he already had a small tent, just large enough for him, set up. This guy was fast. “Wait,” I said, just as he was about to get inside. “I'm Jason.”

He nodded and started going inside.

“What's your name?” I asked him.

He thought for a moment. What kind of person has to think about their own name? “You can call me Seto,” he said finally. He crawled into the tent and the flap shut.

I stood there, Dillon still on my shoulder. I didn't even reach up to scratch him. Just who was this person?

RAWR people. Sorreh I didn't update sooner, but I had stuff. Yes, stuff. Seems legit. Hurgedy burgedy.. wut was I saying? Oh yeah!

I HAS DECIDED! I will be starting choice A from the last update. As you can probably tell, I already started choice B, but that's only going to be an 'extras' book; y'know, for Halloween specials and Christmas specials and Bertdai specials and stuff like dat.
