Chapter 26

Illaria Point of View

"What a pity!" Lyra sighed sadly while she placed one document after another on my table for my signatures.

"Ms. Allard, why was this year's retreat trip such a failure? We used to have such great, interesting and fun retreats every year and most of the staff use to wait all year round just for this small trip." Lyra complained in between sneezes and coughs.

"I asked you to take a day off today. Why are you here?" She caught cold and should be taking some rest to work efficiently later on.

I allowed her a paid leave because one of the reasons she caught cold is me. I had to keep the staff on the camping grounds the other day and endure the storm on the open fields.

Although the routes to get out of the camping grounds were blocked later on due to landslides and we were stuck there for two days in the storm, I was still the reason for not taking the decision to take everyone out of that place to a safe zone when there was something wrong with the weather app.

I was selfish as well. I wanted to catch, at least find out who among us is the person who is working for SkyGod. I know for sure that we would not be in serious trouble health wise. Maybe simple flu and cold but nothing serious; yet I took the risk because a small discomfort on everyone's part will help save millions of people from the cruel and manipulating SkyGod.

I though this small negligence and sacrifice is needed and had to take a tough decision on other's behalf.

"Just a little cold, Ms. Allard. I'll save this leave for another day when I might need more." Lyra answered, yet between series of coughs and sneezes.

"Why don't you say directly that you don't want to miss someone here?" I mumbled with a groan.

"Anyhow, inform the procurement teams to send the lists by the end of tomorrow. Arrange a small meeting with the Allard hotel team and give these templates to them, ask them to discuss and implement them appropriately. Also, have the analysts team perform the market analysis with detailed reports by the end of the week. Make sure they also include climatic engineering in their financial and non-financial analysis for better understanding."

After giving a series of instruction, checking and signing off the documents, I sent Lyra to work on them and instructed Asmund to not disturb me for couple of hours.

I left a sigh of relief and first opened the folders that Disco ball sent me regarding the climatic manipulation on the camping grounds.

It would now take a lot of time to crack the password. Sigh, life is so hard for me!

On the split screen, I opened the files sent by Devon and a familiar statement made its appear on.

Enter password.

Yet another disgruntled groan left my throat. I wonder if all men are the same. Despite any mental disorder, they all like keeping complicated passwords to just anything and everything.

I had been trying to contact Devon since the day he sent me these files to get the passwords but he just replied me back with - 'I'm busy for few days and will contact back later.'

Since he is busy, either I can guess the password or wait for him to provide it to me. It has been four days since we came back from retreat and he still did not contact me which means he is particularly busy and I don't want to disturb him.

So, between both the men, I somehow felt guessing Disco ball's passwords is much easier because I at least know the topic of him passwords.

Me.

All the passwords related to Allard company are related to me so I find it fairly easier try something with a lead than to waste time something without any hints.

After making several copies and trying several times, I was finally able to unlock the document sent by Disco ball.

It took me more than hour to unlock and nearly half an hour to read the whole thing. And the conclusion really surprised me.

Disco ball really did a surprisingly good job in making this thesis.

The document was enough to give me the basic idea of the whole issue, minus the technical language that I didn't understand much.

Later, I tried half an hour on cracking the password of the file that Devon sent me and the unsuccessful tries exhausted me mentally.

Why is my life so full of deciphering passwords, I don't know!

What should I do to make people give me the information without putting any password to it?

Is that even possible? In Devon's case, it might still be possible but Disco ball is all about his mental disorder for passwords.

He can never do it. If ever he sent me any information without setting a password, I can bet all my wealth on it, he would die without a health issue.

Since I couldn't crack it, I took a break from it for a few minutes and transferred my focus on my brother's engagement arrangements.

Almost everything is set. At least mine and Devon's job is mostly done with only a few small bits to do here and there which is not a big issue at all.

Zorion and Tiny are on cloud nine; mostly Tiny, as they see with their own eyes how the engagement venue is being set up slowly.

I kind of understand now why Grandma Almond insisted on making the arrangements by ourselves than appoint an organizer for it. It gives such a feel of achievement like no other.

And i know that although Zorion always has a cold stoic face, I can tell from his eyes and subtle actions that he likes it so much.

Just as I was back to try to crack code of Devon's file, the door to my office cabin rapped open and in entered the ever jolly and very enthusiastic ball of disco.

He entered the room with mix of few salsa and samba steps and twirled in front of my table before sitting on the chair opposite.

"Alarming, how are you doing on this very beautiful day?" He asked in a sing song manner.

Asmund rushed inside to take – drag -Disco ball out of my cabin and apologized me for not being able to stop him from coming in.

I waved my hand and asked him to leave while turned my attention to the brightly smiling man in front of me.

"You've asked me about my day just this noon in the office canteen." I clipped and looked at him from top to bottom.

Yet again, he is dressed in an absurd style with clothes made of mirror beads, he has an ear ring on only one year and it was a glass ball hanging until it touched his shoulder.

He also has some shining highlighted small beads stuck at the corner of his eyes.

In short, from top to bottom, he is in the human form of a manifested pub.

"You trespassed into my office cabin despite my orders to not disturb me, you better have a strong reason for it."

"Of course, I do." He grinned. "I miss you."

"That's your reason?"

"Not just that. I have something very interesting here with me. Take a look." He pulled out an iPad and gave it for me to see.

I looked at what he wanted to show me and once I finished assessing it, I felt mixed emotions running through me.

Happy, angry, confused and many more.

"Is this really possible?" I asked in a somber tone.

"Theoretically, yes."

"Practically?"

"Not sure. If everything goes well, it would be a great job done but even a small flaw found, then the whole thing would collapse instantly. So, it is all or none." He explained.

"If we use your idea and make this while instrumentation, if we succeed in it, what are the chances of this getting replicated by others?"

"Zero." I raised a brow at his confidence.

He shrugged with a grin and said, "Unless they get their hands on original scripts, zero. Without original script, even the rival is the best hacker and software geek in the whole world, it is very hard, close to impossible."

What Disco ball got me, is a stimulation of unique idea for our geoengineering project. It doesn't take too long to build this; however, the process is the toughest part.

If everything goes well, this could be made in the matter of one month but if any bug or flaw detected, it should be made from the very start or should be aborted completely.

This idea of his is truly interesting and much more advanced than the current technologies. It's almost like this technology should be made at least hundred years later.

I tapped my fingers on the table, unable to decide if we should give it a try or not.

I looked at him, "Give me a couple of days' time, I will tell you my decision on this." And he nodded with his never-ending grin.

I felt a bit nauseous for a moment but when thought of his idea and his contribution, I swallowed it back.

He stood up to leave on his own without me telling him to which surprised me to my next several lives. He reached the door and opened it, he suddenly stopped in tracks and turned back, giving me the same smile.

"Ah right, the password to the file you were trying right now is Cloudzep*6. With a capital C." And he left without looking back.

I frowned and typed away the password and again to my surprise, it opened. What shocked me more was;

This is the file Devon sent me!
