Chapter 17

Illaria Point of View

"I still feel like we are missing something." I mumbled as I looked at the paper and scanned everything.

We have already contacted a few owners of the stalls that are confirmed to be in the engagement carnival and asked them to meet us in a restaurant.

Around twelve stall owners of different businesses came over. Two and a half hours later, all the twelve stall owners were very grateful to join in the fun and open their stall at the engagement carnival.

However, we decided that we pay for the food stalls so that the guests can eat and drink whatever they like and how ever much they like. There are other stalls which are not the food type, like games or books and some other entertaining stalls with small trinkets, they are open for the guests to purchase as per their choice.

However, the price will be much lower and affordable than usual.

"Actually, there's a friend of mine who owns a chain of arcades all over the country. I asked him to help me with setting up with a small bunch of stalls with simple games for both adults and children to play. I've already had a discussion with him and he was pleased to do so. He gave me a list of games that are easy to move and set up; we can choose a good few from it." Devon spoke as he produced another printed paper with a long list of fun games, categorized as per the age, listed on it.

"Didn't we decide with give a chance for some small businesses?" I asked as I scanned through the paper.

Grandma Almond has made it clear that the stalls should be a business opportunity for small businesses who are honest and have good products but have no good exposure.

"That's right. My friend is already in contract with those small stalls and arrange them for such private events. Those other stalls are not authentic enough for us to consider them." Ah, I see.

Right, these days no matter if it is a simple birthday party or gender reveal party, these fun games are the one mostly sorted after to entertain the guests so many businessmen in the field of fun and entertainment have gathered these games stalls and offered them a contract for better business opportunities.

Only a few are working individually and most of them does not provide quality goods and services.

"Ah yes, I know. In that case, can I keep this list and send you the selected ones by tomorrow evening?" Devon nodded to which I smiled gratefully.

"Still, I feel there something missing here." I said again.

There are few more owners we have to meet and most of them are owners of local art and culture merchandises.

I've seen a few of their commodities in the Instagram page and they are seriously so beautiful and full of cultural flair. What is more pleasing is that these commodities are handmade, making their aesthetic value more prominent.

There are books, food, games, cultural stuff, small beautiful trinkets for women and kids, special photobooths, live sketching... what else did we miss that I feel unsettled about?

Devon must've observed that I'm pressed with the issue so he asked me relax my mind and think slowly since we still have some time to make final tick.

I nodded and we continued to meet a few more people and if we are satisfied, we offered them business at the carnival wedding.

The whole day was spent in travelling and dealing with different people that by the time I reached home, it was already past midnight.

Thankfully, we had dinner before we left for home or else I would've died twice from hunger and tiredness.

I did not even have energy to change into fresh clothes, I just plopped down on the bed and before my head touched the pillow, I was already far away in sleep.

To be honest, it felt so good to sleep so well, especially after having sleep issues from the time uno Mayhem entered my company.

Look at the comparison thought! Uno and Devon, both are men but one caused me to have depressed nights and the other made me have dreamless sleep and rest.

No wonder Devon is so handsome.

The next day, I woke up two hours later than I usually do but after such good rest, I felt like I can fly to sky and play with clouds.

Today, yet again, it's Devon and mine's time to travel around and wrap up the task in hand. So, I simply got dressed in comfortable trousers and shirt and took a small backpack to keep all the necessary stuff.

Backpack is better than handbags when you are travelling around with such purposes. It's more convenient and you will also have lots of space in the backpack to stuff in many things.

Just I was done getting ready, I received a message from Devon telling me that he is already waiting in front of my house.

With an excited and a happy cheerful smile, I skipped my way to the porch where a car is waiting for me.

"Devon, Devon; I finally know what is missing from the list." I skipped into the car with a small cheerful jump and said with a grin.

Devon, for some reason, stared at me for a long moment before he jerked out of it and responded back with a small smile.

"I know you would. What is it then?" He asked as he started the engine and drove away to our destination which is two hours away.

Usually, it should only take an hour but the traffic inside the city can make you go crazy.

"Astrology." I said with a hint of pride in my tone. "Did you have your breakfast?"

Devon nodded for breakfast, "Astrology?"

"Like tarot reading, parrot tarot reading, fortune telling roulette, etc. Don't you think it will brighten up the environment more with such a kiosk?" Explaining, I pulled out a box from my backpack in which my cook packed a few simple canapes along with a couple of refreshing dips.

I then pulled out a small holder from the backpack and opened it and fixed it in the space allocated for putting bottles. On the now fixed holder I adjusted the box of canapes making sure it doesn't fall off even if the car goes round and round.

"Have some, my cook makes them the best." I took a bite myself and moaned inwardly.

This is heaven!

Although I had breakfast, I somehow don't feel full enough today. It must be because I had an unusually good rest last night that it provoked my digestive system well.

Devon slipped a canape into his mouth without looking at me as he is too focused on driving. "Hmm, these are good. Subtle in taste, best for mornings." He complimented, taking another piece to eat.

Thankfully, I had my cook make a lot of them.

"Putting up a stand or tent for fortune telling and tarot card reading is not bad but for that we should invite some authentic and well versed in the field or else we will be backfired if some scammer is given the job and our guests are scammed by him."

True. When it comes to things like astrology and all, people rather want to believe it than not believe it. In that case, find a real deal in the field is a necessary.

"Exactly. I asked my assistant to help me with finding out popular clairvoyants these days. We should be getting the response back by afternoon today."

I opened my backpack again and pulled out two bottles of beverages from inside and adjusted on the stand for me and Devon.

He once said that he likes mild beverages with light taste so I got him a bottle of coconut water and got myself a bottle of Kombucha.

Devon suddenly turned to me and looked at the food and drinks on the stand and gave a slight weird look. If it wasn't for my detailed observation, I could've caught it.

When we stopped at the signal, he opened his own bottle and took a sip of drink and then nodded in approval.

"So, I was thinking..." I trailed off, giving Devon some peripheral glances.

"You were thinking?"

"I know you were into some kind of national civil employment." Although I know what kind of employment he is in, I obviously cannot say it out.

"Um hmm, so?"

"Can do please do me a small favour?" I pinched my dress to creases from nervousness.

Yet again we stopped at the signal and Devon looked at me curiously. There was unmasked questioning on his face.

"What kind of favour?"

I glanced at him a couple of times and when I saw his serious face, I tried to control the overwhelming anxiety building inside me.

"I –" I stuttered. Taking a deep breathe, I finally calmed myself and told him.

"I want you to help me threaten someone."
