Moon Colonies News: The annual two-week orgies on Phobos and Deimos started this week in Phobos, and there has been an STD outbreak. It's referred to as Can't Stop, Won't Stop disease, and its effect on people is that they can't stop having sex. The only way to beat it is by having sex with someone who has it. Apparently, the two cancel each other out. But the most shocking thing of all is that instead of people fearing this disease, they're trying to get it, saying it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Rainbow had set an electromagnetic field around the base, keeping out Earth's toxic air. She didn't have to, but she hated wearing a helmet every time she stepped outside.
"It's dem," Cleo said with a smile, referring to the coyotes she had expected to hunt her. "Dey found me fast."
Rainbow and Cleo watched the coyotes' spacecraft approach their base from the security room. Searching through the internet to see whom they belong to, Rainbow pulled up their profiles. "Unicorn, Hell Rooster, T-Rex, Baby Raven, and Devil Crow. They are ranked just outside The 100. Impressive."
Cleo cracked her knuckles. "Me been waiting for a proper fight."
"The synthetics have not been pleasing you?"
Cleo arched her brow at Rainbow.
Rainbow blushed. "I did not mean it like that."
Cleo laughed. "Yuh look cute when yuh blush. Di synths nuh gone fight me tuh dey full capabilities bikaaz dem are here tuh protect me. An' nuh matter how many times me tell dem it's ok tuh nuh hold back, dem nuh listen."
Turning back to the holo-screen, Rainbow and Cleo watched as the soldiers destroyed the incoming spacecraft, killing a group of coyotes that had dropped from one of them. Rainbow screen-grabbed the coyotes' T-rex emblem on their armor and ran it through the search engine. "They were members of T-Rex's team, Dead Dinos."
"She outta team members." Cleo scoffed. "Serves her right."
The coyotes faced no more casualties; the five high-ranked ones being the last survivors. They showed why they were in their positions by tearing through the soldiers like they were a piece of cake, using the empty area around the base to their advantage. It was as if they were competing to see who could kill the most synths.
Cleo stood. "Come on, let's deal wid dem ourselves."
"I thought you would never ask."
The pair met the coyotes at the base's dock; the two sides stared at each other from a distance.
"Dis shud'n have been how we reunite after not seeing each odda for over ten years, Li Jun," Cleo said.
Rainbow glanced between Cleo and Unicorn. "You know him?" Before getting into a relationship with Cleo, she had researched her. She thought she knew everything there was to know about her.
"He's... He was me best friend when we were children," Cleo said.
Rainbow needed no more details. She pieced the puzzle quickly. Not that it was hard to connect the dots, anyway. She realized after Mars had banished Cleo, her friendship with Unicorn ended.
"Yuh ruined me life!" Unicorn shouted, glaring at Cleo.
"Yes." Cleo placed her hand on her heart. "Me apologize for dat. Me didn't tink they'd come after yuh an' di others wen dem realized dem cud'n get tuh me no more."
"Me nah here fah an apology. Me here fah yuh life." Unicorn looked at the other coyotes, who had been silent the whole time. "Leave her tuh me."
Unicorn grabbed the two energy axes strapped on his back and attacked Cleo first. Cleo dodged with her hands behind her back. That seemed to frustrate him as he moved faster and swung harder. But no matter how good of a coyote he was, his skills were inferior to Cleo's.
Cleo had gone through hell before becoming the leader of REPAH. Even Rainbow's research hadn't revealed everything, leaving her to learn the rest from the horse's mouth: After Cleo took over REPAH, she killed all the members for not doing their due diligence, feeling as if they had enabled the trophy hunters and slave traders.
Unicorn threw the axes at Cleo, who caught one and swatted the other with the back of her hand. Unicorn thought he had an advantage and tried to kick her torso. She saw his attack coming, stopping his kick with her foot before pushing him backward and throwing the ax at him, stabbing his chest and making him scream in pain. Then she darted towards him, jumped in the air, and knocked him out with a spinning kick.
Pulling the ax from his chest, she threw it to the floor before turning him around and sitting on his back. "Di others are yours," she told Rainbow.
Rainbow had never been more attracted to Cleo than at that moment. The fact the martian left four coyotes for her to deal with showed how much she loved her. It had been a while since Rainbow fought humans. And if the other coyotes had the same skill set as Unicorn, then this was going to be a breeze for her.
"I'll deal wit' her," Baby Raven said with a smirk on his face.
"Beat her quickly, babe," Devil Crow said.
"I will."
Baby Raven grabbed the light pistols strapped to his thighs and fired at Rainbow. To say it was a surprise attack would have been an insult to her. Nothing humans did caught her off guard. It was the same here. She pressed the metal band on her left wrist and an energy shield materialized in front of her, blocking the bullets.
"D'ja see dat? I almost had her," Baby Raven told Devil Crow.
"I did, babe. Okay? Woohoo! Okay? Yuh can do it. Okay?"
Rainbow realized Baby Raven's biggest weakness was his need to impress Devil Crow. It was easy to tell there was more going on between them. Pure-bloods encouraged sexual relationships among siblings and relatives so their bloodlines would never die out.
Baby Raven kept firing to no success. The more it continued, the bored Rainbow got. Hopefully, T-Rex or Hell Rooster might pose a threat to her.
When the pistols ran out of charge, Rainbow charged at Baby Raven. He tried to punch her, but she dodged his swinging arm and knocked him out with the back of her elbow. Then she moved towards Devil Crow; the woman reached for her light rifle around her shoulder. Before firing, Rainbow knocked her out with a kick to the face.
T-Rex and Hell Rooster glanced at each other before turning to Rainbow. If the coyotes worked as a team, they could have challenged her and Cleo. But even in the face of danger, they pursued personal glory. It was how Rainbow knew they would not beat her or capture Cleo. They were not a team, and they would never be until they put their selfishness aside.
Hell Rooster withdrew his lightsword. "I'm going to end this."
Fighting humans was so easy for Rainbow; she did not have to use her advanced senses. She loved playing with them for a while before beating them to the point they ran away, but she would never let a human inflict a serious injury on her.
Rainbow evaded the lightsword. But while doing so, she hit Hell Rooster's torso with her foot, breaking his ribs. The man grunted before coughing out blood. "You are too weak," she said, then kneed him in the face, breaking his nose and knocking him out cold.
Turning to T-Rex, the woman lay unconscious on the floor. Cleo stood beside her, holding a neutralizer. "You said they were mine to deal with," Rainbow said.
"We have odda tings tuh deal wid," Cleo said while placing the neutralizer in her holster.
"What now?"
Before Cleo replied, a small shuttle entered the dock. Its door opened and a dark-skinned girl looking no older than thirteen walked out. She did not look at Cleo or Rainbow, too busy focused on the gaming console in her hands.
"Who's dat?" Cleo asked.
"I do not know," Rainbow replied.
The girl stopped playing the game and looked at the unconscious coyotes. Sighing, she placed the game in her waistband and grabbed Baby Raven and Devil Crow before pulling them into the shuttle.
"She's stronger dan she looks," Cleo said.
"Do not judge a book by its cover, as they say," Rainbow added. "Maybe she can pose a threat to us if we fight her."
Cleo laughed. "Maybe."
The girl returned, grabbing Hell Rooster and Unicorn, and taking them to the shuttle. When she came back for T-Rex, she gazed at Cleo and Rainbow. "Hello." She waved at them. "My name's Ragdoll."
"Hello, Ragdoll." Rainbow waved back. "Are you a coyote too?"
"Yes, but I enjoy being a pilot more than a hunter. Goodbye." Ragdoll dragged T-Rex inside the shuttle before flying away.
"What just happened?" Rainbow turned to Cleo and saw the fear in the woman's eyes. "What is wrong?"
"Yuh don't know, duh yuh?"
"Know what?"
"'Bout Ragdoll."
Rainbow shook her head.
"We shud be thankful di gyal didn't waan tuh fight us. We wudda easily lost."
"What are you talking about?"
"Eff me suspicions are true, she might be de Ragdoll me have heard 'bout since me was a child. She even matched di appearance described tuh me."
"Since you were a child?" It was not Rainbow's fault for not knowing about Ragdoll. She had focused on making sure The Forgotten Nuns never discovered the existence of hollans in the solar system. Not knowing about one human was not that bad. "Who is Ragdoll, exactly?"
"The Boogeyman."
