What is the COVID-19?

In November 2019, a virus broke out in China, a new thread of the corona. The corona was a animal virus only contagious to that species. Bats. As time passed and genetics mutated the virus also changed. It is now able to be transferred from the bats to humans. Unaware, people digested bats in meals like bat soup. This led to the passing of the corona into the systems of human beings. Welcoming the COVID-19.

The COVID-19 is respiratory virus that has symptoms similar to the flu; coughing, fever, sore throat, difficulty breathing, etc. Since it is new to the human body there is no vaccine nor cure. It has surpassed 6500 deaths worldwide.

COVID-19 in Ohio

According to Resources for Local Health Districts and Providers - COVID-19, as of March 16th, 2020 there have been 55 confirmed cases cases spread across 12 counties; 2 in Belmont, 6 in Butler, 24 in Cuyahoga, 3 in Franklin, 1 in Geauga, 3 in Lorain, 1 in Lucas, 2 in Medina, 3 in Stark, 2 in Summit, 2 in Trumbull, 1 in Tuscarawas; and 14 hospitalizations (Ohio Department of Health).On Thursday, March 12, 2020 Governor Mike Dewine announced an official closing for all schools K-12 in Ohio. This would be effective as soon the end of the school day on Monday, March 16, 2020 until Friday, April 3, 2020. This is all in an attempt to stop the spread among the thousands of students going to school. Although the virus has not officially reached some areas it's only right that we take such precautions. Restaurants no longer offer the dine-in choice. You must go through a drive thru, get it delivered, or order to go.

How to Stop the Spread

The best way to keep from getting the Corona virus is to halt any contact with many other people. Thanks to this world's technological advancements we are able to stay connect even while far from each other. If it isn't necessary to hold a gathering, post-pone it. Once scientist are able to find a cure and vaccine for the COVID-19 then it will be easier to prevent but until then stay away from others.

Come Together as a Community

This disaster could very much separate the world but just as easily it could bring people together. If Italy gets into and deeper of a crisis than they currently are, it is my hope that people will send them things that they need. Since some countries are already small and poor they may run out of resources soon. It is important for everyone to remember that in all things helping yourself is okay, but to go beyond-empty all the shelves or mass buy products to resell them for higher prices-is not just. The people of this world can join together as a community, city, state, country, and even as whole species. This way when this whole thing is over we have stronger world relations.
