Writing prompt
Literally like two months ago AlphaKasumiRose gave me a writing prompt that I finished for her. I'm running out of room on my phone, so I'm going to have to delete it. I decided to post it here so that I will always have a copy of it. Enjoy!
I said it and I meant it, and I was right. Still, I wish I could take to back, because there's no way I can make it up to her, no way I can make her feel alright again. I had killed her, as surely as if I had run my sword through her heart. It all went back to that day; we stood on the cliff, her red hair whipping around her face with the wind. The field surrounding was too bright, to green, but not as bright as her eyes. She had offered me then to go with her, and for a second I imagined taking it. The heavens and earth realigned in shards of motion, and we fell. We were stuck in between, no sky above or earth below. Just us, in that middle space. And there was peace, such peace.
But I was a coward. I was a fool. I didn't take it. She had smiled sadly at me that day, and had taken a breath of the fresh mountain air. "It feels so alive." she had said, her last words filled with joy. Then, she stepped backwards and fell. Her eyes were the last thing of her I remember, locking into me, taking me apart.
I had hurried to the edge to see the small dark shape, stuck between worlds, and for a moment I envied it. But then I forced the thought down, and there was nothing except for me, the rock and the fields, all reminding me of her. She had deserved that peace.
