With a stunning entry that was just so different from our other entries, we knew this one deserved something! We fell in love with the blood and the glass shattering. The text effect was gorgeous, however we felt as if the font could have been slightly improved. We loved how you decided to use a dragon emblem instead of a real dragon, and we just overalled loved your originality.

Third Place:

This entry was so beautifully blended and crafted that it just had to win! We loved everything about it - the font, the color scheme, the crown - however we did feel as if the dragon eye was just thrown in there, and it made it look out of place. The blood also looks slightly weird as it's hard to see, and at first glance you would have missed it. That is why you didn't place higher.

Second Place:

This entry was amazing - so amazing it made us want to feature her in our Showcase from the very first time we saw it! We loved the model you used, and how well the dragon looks on her arm, but we did think you missed a few minor things, like for example, where is the shadow of the dragon on her arm and chest? And the crown looks a bit too upright for the way her head is tilted forwards. The gradient effect you used on Queen is good, but slightly hard to read as well. But other than those few things this cover was simply marvelous. We loved how it all came together to tell an incredible tale. We could see this on a real book!

First Place:

From the sheer number of comments this single cover received we knew it had to be the winner! Our first entry in our first contest winning first place! So fitting! There is so little to say about this cover, other than it's absolutely marvelous, however we think that the crown on the girl's head sits quite awkwardly, and looks as if it's about to fall off. But aside from that one little thing, this cover is close to perfect!

Such beautiful and mysterious manipulation went into this cover, that we knew we would be crazy not to award it something! The major problem we had with this cover was the text. Though the Bevel effect was beautiful, the text was so hard to read that from far away you wouldn't even see it at all. If that text were just a few shades lighter, you could have won a bigger and better prize. But no matter! It was still an absolutely stunning entry and we thanks you for entering!

Third Place:

The judges loved the way this cover came together, foretelling such a different story than the original. We loved the little flickers of light across the cover, making it all blend so well, and we adore the way the girl looks. The one thing that could be improved is the text. Like with the last one, if the color of the text was lighter, it would have made all the difference in the world. But no matter! It is still a stunning cover!

Second Place:

We had such heavy manipulation in this contest that people seemed to forget about the beauty of a nice minimalist cover, and we understand - so few people have mastery over it. This was just such a beautiful cover that it readily deserved second place. And we loved how you chose a less used fairytale - you are the only person who did Pinnochio, and we applaud you on that!

First Place:

Hands down this was one of the best entries we got for both prompts. We loved everything about it! The font, the dragon silhouette, the sleeping girl - everything! The two negative things we have are that the text isn't clear enough - like with a lot of these entries - and that the rose shadows look a bit out of place. We know you were going for something more realistic, but in that case you should have better identified the light source, which wasn't straight on, but down with an angle, meaning that the shadow positioning was wrong, however that is some pretty heavy stuff, and we doubt that would stop you getting accepted into whatever design university you will go to - because you need to go to one!
