\Prologue\

I awoke to the same infernal headache, which pounded away at my processor like a beating drum. It hurt like hell. That was nothing new, though.

The first thing I noticed about my surroundings was that it was ridiculously dark. I could barely even see my own hands in front of my face, let alone the floor upon which I sat. The only thing that gave me something to work with was the soft glow of my optics, which were dimmer than usual due to my inconsistent energon intake. I can't remember the last time I refueled. I only possess fragments of my past memories, some of which are more faded than others.

But there was one memory in particular that kept coming back every time I tried to forget it. It was the only one I tried not to remember and it was the only one I could remember at the moment.

Iacon Medical Center.

Screaming.

Gunshots.

Sickening amounts of energon stained the floor.

We were under attack.

Doctors and patients alike were taken down in such brutal ways I had never seen before in all my years as a medic.

There was only one mech that came to my mind. No one else could be behind such a thing.

Megatron, the very terrorist that wanted to crush everything and everyone under his pede in his quest for power. He called himself and his followers 'Decepticons'. I have no idea why he targeted the Medical Center. Perhaps he wanted to send a message to those that opposed him.

The pounding in my head gets worse as the memory intensifies.

I can hear every scream, every splatter of energon, every firing gun and slicing blade. The only thing that I can hear above it all is the pounding of my spark along with my pedesteps as I sprinted down the dim hallway. I couldn't stop to help those that were wounded, there was no time. Medics before me had made that mistake and painfully joined the hundreds that had already been slaughtered.

I can't feel anything but the pounding in my head and my vision grows blurrier by the second.

It was like one of those scary stories that were told to sparklings to scare them for fun. Only this time, it was real. Everything was real. I sought refuge in one of the exam rooms, making the same mistake the characters in the story had made. I should've kept running. In my search for somewhere safe, I had unintentionally cornered myself. The only thing I had to defend myself was the blades I had recently upgraded to since I was due to leave for the field any day now. I didn't have the right training to fight yet. My vast medical knowledge wouldn't help me in this situation unless I was wounded, which I couldn't allow that to happen.

I nearly scream in agony as the pounding increases. My head feels like it's going to explode.

The approaching pedesteps get louder and the gunfire intensifies. I can hear the screams of those unfortunate enough to be caught in the path of the attackers out there. My sparkrate picks up and I can't steady my breathing. My hands shake as I change them into blades and I held them up defensively. I pressed my back against the wall and slid behind the medberth when I heard voices. Harsh barks of insults that were followed by cruel laughter when the next bot fell victim.

They're coming.

They're coming.

They're right there.

I can see them.

There is no time to react.

Before I can scream, they lunge at me and the scent of energon is the last thing my systems register before everything goes dark

As the memory fades away, the pounding in my head ceases.

By that time, I had already passed out.

Only to wake up and relive the same thing a few hours later.
