Chapter 5- Loved (+A/N)
(Some more notes:
NK is male.
SK is trans, but prefers She/her.
And some more countries will come later I'm lazy. :\
In countryhumans, you can get prosthetics. The reason the countries are the only ones to use it and not humans is because they have different anatomy and it doesn't work on humans. Also, don't ask me to draw it, because I have a horrible imagination and I'm not a scientist nor would I be good at being one.
Once again, countries differ from their governments. However, when war is waged, the countries have to fight, even if they are family or friends.
Thank you for reading my rant again.)
"Come on, North! We'd better walk home before it rains!"
NK's sister, South Korea, called for him. He knew how cold rain could get in the fall. He'd rather stay out of it.
"Fine, just slow down!" North Korea called back.
"Hmph. You're slower than a snail."
NK looked up to the sky. Definitely was about to rain. He rushed on home so his art supplies wouldn't get wet.
Five seconds after they ran home and slammed the door behind them, rain started to fall. SK sighed, "I wanted to go biking. Oh well."
NK ignored her and sat down on the couch. He got out his sketchbook and decided to draw.
What should I draw? NK wasn't sure. He decided to draw a sketch of America. It wasn't hard to do. NK had photographic memory. It sort of automatically "switched on" whenever he was looking at someone. SK asked if he wanted to train it a bit, so he could control what he remembered. NK declined.
"Is that Ame?" SK asked. NK jumped. When did she walk up to him?
"Yeah," He responded, not wanting to converse and got back to drawing.
"It's really good, like always," SK continued, "But you don't seem like the type of person to draw Ame. Did you become friends?"
NK stayed silent.
"Don't try to avoid the question."
"Okay, fine. Yes, we did," NK said, "Happy now that you have that information?"
"You two actually got along?" SK asked.
"Yes. Anything wrong with that?" NK glared.
"No, no. Nothing. I suppose it's because countries differ from their governments."
NK continued his sketch. He remembered the Korean war. It had hurt to go against his brother. And his left arm was changed completely.
He put his pencil down and stared at the prosthetic. The war never had to happen. But it did. NK figured maybe the friendship with America was worth it. Kim would definitely be mad.
"Anyways," SK continued.
"What?" NK asked. Did he just miss her whole conversation?
SK sighed. "I was talking about our schedules. We don't share any classes on Mondays and Thursdays. Wednesdays there are no specials because of early out, just Math, Science, History, and World Languages and Cultures. We already know we don't share those classes."
NK thought. "Hmm, I have Art for period 3 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 6th period for those days..." He took his schedule out of his bag and checked it, "P.E."
"Aw." SK looked sad, "I have Robotics 3rd and Chorus 6th for Tuesday and Thursday. We don't share any classes?"
"They most likely did that on purpose," NK mentioned, "Because we're twins."
There was a rumor that if two countryhumans were twins, one had to die, or they would stay as two separate countries forever. No one was sure how long "forever" had to be. Would both of the countries just die at the same time? Either way, NK and his sister were twins, and were definitely scared for what they could become. When the Korean war broke out, they were both terrified. At least that was over now, but the hopes for a reunified Korea without either one of them dying was close to none.
"That's too bad. You'll be alright without me, right brother?" SK asked.
NK shrugged. Maybe. They would find out tomorrow. It was time to go to bed.
After quickly getting ready, the two countries said good night and fell asleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"WAKE UP, SLEEPYHEAD!" SK screamed into her brother's ear.
NK quickly got up, "I'm up, I'm up."
SK sighed, "You literally sleep like the dead. Come on, we have to prepare for school."
So they got ready and walked to school. SK kept fussing around him, "But what if you get hurt? What if you get lost? What if-"
"SK, we aren't children. I'll be fine." North Korea huffed, "Honestly, you worry too much."
"Okay. I just hope you don't get into trouble," SK said.
NK rolled his eyes. His sister was too overprotective. As the doors to the school opened, he hurried to his class, losing sign of SK in the chaos.
Off to Math, then. NK thought. I wonder what kind of teacher UNESCO is.
"Hey, NK." A voice behind him said.
North Korea turned around to see America. "Oh, hi 미국, how are you?"
"Good." America replied, then got out a notebook. He tore out some paper and wrote something. "If you ever want to talk after school, this is my number. I have to hurry to my class, sorry I can't talk longer. I'll speak with you in science." Then he left.
North Korea blinked a couple of times before heading to class. Well, that was nice, though NK wondered where America's next class was.
Math was Math, as expected, but UNESCO made it to a game of Hot seat. They were all in groups, and every round, someone from each group would walk up to their team's Hot seat. A problem would come up on the board, and the group would talk it out, while the person in the Hot seat had to work alone. They got two points if they both got it correct, and zero of both failed. If one of them missed it while the other was correct, it would be one point.
NK sighed, trying to look for familiar faces to group up with. He had to make a group of three. He spotted Vietnam, and decided she was better than nothing. He also found China.
"Hello, NK and Vietnam." China greeted the country warmly, "Can I join your group?"
"Sure!" Vietnam exclaimed happily. NK was also fine with it. He didn't want to tell any country, but he might've had a slight crush on China. However, China seemed different. He looked at China and his red eyes.
Red eyes?
Then he blinked and China's eyes were gold again. He must've imagined it.
The teacher told the groups to sit down and play the Hot seat game. Oh well. NK thought.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NK rushed to science class, anxious to talk with America. He arrived early.
So did America.
He put his bag down by his seat and walked over to the country, "Hey, America."
America looked up, "Yes, NK?"
"Why did you give me that piece of paper?"
America looked at NK for a while, silent, then said, "I don't know how you do at home. I gave you my number in case you wanted to talk to a friend."
"Oh." NK said, "Thanks, America."
"Ame. You can call me Ame." Ame responded.
"Alright."
The bell rang, and NK hurried to his seat. China looked at him strangely. "Since when were you and that Capitalist friends?"
NK shrugged, "Since yesterday."
China sighed, "Do be careful around him though. I don't want you getting hurt."
NK froze, "Wait, you care?"
"Umm, yes?" China blushed a little. He must be embarrassed. NK thought. At least China did care about him. Then he noticed China's red eyes. He blinked, and they were back to their usual gold. I've got to stop hallucinating. NK thought.
Either way, it felt good for China to care about him.
(This is my LONGEST chapter so far with over 1000 words. Sorry this took so long. I was having Writers block, and I've also been really busy recently. Also, thank you all so much for over 100 views! I was honestly expecting this to only get like 30, so thank you!!!)
