9: Dad's Letters
'Hi Dad!
How's it going up there?
I miss you, you know.
Come down here someday.'
Letter sent
Pick up a pen
Write a reply
Dad's letter received
Not sent
'Hi Lily!
How's it going down there?
I miss you too.
I'll come down someday.'
Mom comes in
Sunken eyes, pale lips
Keep writing
Dad's waiting
Waiting up there
'I love you Dad!
Please come back.
It's all my fault.
It's all my fault.'
Mom paces
Drinks from flask
Frowns, cries
Why isn't Dad replying?
Need to focus again
'I love you Lily!
It's not your fault.
I hate you Lily!
It's all your fault.'
Dad is angry
Need to reply
Need to say sorry
Mom wants to talk
No time, ignore
'I'm sorry Dad!
I swear I'll fix it.
Give me a chance.
You don't have to forgive me.'
Mom gets closer
Agitated, exhausted
What will he say?
What will Dad say?
Must know
'It's okay Lily!
I forgi—'
"No! Stop it!
Give me back my pen!"
Need to know
Need to know
What he wants to say
Mom pats my back
Gentle, hesitant
Took away pen
Clenched in fist
Never getting it back
Never getting Dad back

Author's Note: This one might be a bit hard to understand. The point is that Lily is writing all of the letters, including the ones from her 'Dad'. Her Dad has committed suicide and she's in denial. So, she's basically writing letters to herself as a coping mechanism since she'll never hear Dad again.
