Chapter- 20 (INTERLUDE 2.1)

'Shijie!!!!', 'A-jieeee!!!!', 'A-Niang, A-Die!!!', 'A-Li!!!!', 'A-Xuan!!!' Many voices cried out at the same time in astonishment.

YanLi looked at them all and sighed, 'Calm down all of you and let me explain. And I am sure Jin-gongzi agrees with my reasoning, too, if he agrees with the break up.' It was more of a statement than question. But, ZiXuan agreed and gave her an encouraging smile to go on.

YanLi- So I know that you are all shocked that I am okay with the betrothal being broken. But, to be honest, had we not seen A-Ling here, I don't think we would have reached where we are now. The result would have been the same as the future. If A-Ling is here, then that means A-Xuan and I must have ultimately found our way back to each other. It also tells us that A-Xuan and I entered into the union by our own volition and not because of a mandatory betrothal between two sects.

'A-Li!' Madam Yu stressed on her name as if fed up with her, 'If the end result is the same, then what is the difference which path you take? Wasn't it easier the way we decided? Why do you think Zihao and I took this step since you were so young?'

Madam Jin, too, supported her friend as they had both discussed it before, 'Exactly my point. We had seen how you both always gravitated towards each other. That's the sole reason why this betrothal was set up. So you might not face any problems in the future. Everyone might say that it was due to my friendship with Ziyuan that we decided on your betrothal. But that was only part of the reason.

As mothers, we just wanted our kids to be happy. And if my child was marrying my best friend's child, then that was just the cherry on the top. But, what I still don’t understand is why you both suddenly resented this so much?'

YanLi wanted to say a great many things but kept quiet as she had no idea how to put her feelings into words. ZiXuan noticed her unease and decided to take the lead. Taking a deep breath, he looked straight at both his mother and future mother-in-law, 'We were scared.'

Everyone looked at him in confusion, except YanLi, who looked relieved for some reason. He was encouraged at the look on her face. Thus, he continued, 'We were scared to end up in a very miserable state', When he saw them about to interrupt, he showed them his hand to keep quiet and continued, 'Look, what I am about to say  might hurt you. But it's you who wants the truth, so that's what I would give you. Plus, it's not like this simulation won't be giving out all of our secrets by the end. So it's no use trying to hide anything. Let's face it firsthand. A-Niang, Madam Yu, both of you are aware of your married lives more than us. What goes on between a couple behind closed doors is none of our business. But both of you very conveniently forgot that you and your husbands weren't the only ones in your family. The children were there too. And agree or not, they are more perceptive than you can imagine.

You might not realize, but the strained relationship between parents really affects a child negatively. I will not go into details, as that's your job to think about. But I will tell you what we felt. Every time I watched you and A-die fight, I promised myself never to tie a girl with myself, whom I don't love and make both our lives miserable. This was my thought when I was still very small but capable enough to understand what was going on around me. But as I grew up, I turned more bitter, along with your relationship. From the "girl I don't love", I had already changed to "no girl".

You are right in guessing that I had liked A-Li because I was fascinated by her. She was different from all the other girls I had seen around me. Around her, I could be unflinchingly myself, and yet she wouldn't judge. In fact, her brothers were always ready to show me my place (chuckles at memory of two little jealous brothers), irrespective of my station. They all made me feel more human than I had ever felt in LanlingJin.'

Jin Ling could understand his father so well. He might not have had such an estranged couple as parents, but the loneliness was something that he could relate to very easily. Even Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng were surprised at the Peacock's confession.

Jin ZiXuan continued after sighing, 'I wanted to be a part of their family so much that I was horrified when this betrothal was set. The first thought that came into my mind was that, would I and A-Li also end up like our parents one day?'

The last part was almost said in whisper. Unable to continue anymore, he looked at the floor of the room for a long time. It had been one of his greatest fears. To say it out loud and be openly vulnerable took so much from him.

YanLi understood his pain and took back the reigns into her hands as she sat beside him and took his hand into hers. Slowly caressing the back of his large hands with her smaller ones, she continued from where he had left, 'It has become a deep rooted fear with every passing day, in the past few years. The intensity of your every argument is proportional to our misgivings regarding this betrothal. Of course, I tried to be optimistic, thinking that one day all the negativity would disappear and I would get my happily ever after. But looking at the political scenario of this simulation, it doesn't seem so. I doubt that the future wedding that we actually had was devoid of all the political maneuvers. Both of us only had you, our parents, as examples of marriage. And in very crass words, both these examples were pathetic.'

Both the Jin and Jiang couples blanched at her honest and straightforward words. They knew that their marriages were broken and tattered. But never in their wildest dreams had they imagined that their actions affected their kids so much so that they were ultimately scared of marriage even though they loved each other.

Yu Ziyuan, who had always prided herself for her strong cultivation, was at a loss of words. Her daughter had stood up to her many times since they had come into this room. But this was the first time her words had cut Madam Yu so deep.

YanLi continued as if she hadn't just left her mother speechless, 'You are correct in guessing that we both had gravitated towards each other. But arranging this betrothal only ruined our budding relationship. We were both young, and your marriages were the only impression we had of such unions. We were scared to be like that one day in the future, and our child faced that twisted version of us. Looking at Jin Ling in flesh and bone, I can say with full confidence that I would do anything to make sure that A-Ling never has to go through the same pain and confusion that we went through.'

Jin Ling couldn’t break his mother's heart by saying that LanlingJin was anything but happy for him even in the future he had come from. It's true. He did not witness an awful marriage of parents, but he had his own woes in their absence.

Jiang YanLi - (tired by opening up her wounds again and again. Also, she did not want Jin Ling to see more negativity than required. He was still a kid to her, after all. And a mother's heart would forever want her kid away from all pessimism in the world) Anyway, I think that's enough for today. The segment has ended, and I think it's time for the kids to go back to their timeline.

'You would be right in guessing that, Jiang-guniang. We have exactly one minute before our departure,' SiZhui said before getting up to hug some of the viewers. His friends followed him, and everyone exchanged a few hugs before the juniors vanished away.

The mood was already tense, but the kids started laughing and marveling at the magic in front of them when they saw the juniors vanishing away. That somehow broke the tension palpating in the air. Everyone broke into groups to discuss and gossip as food appeared on the tables.

Nie MingJue made a beeline towards his friend and plopped down beside him, and looked at him intently. XiChen saw him staring so closely and smiled, 'What happened, Da-ge?'

'Tell me about your love at first sight.' MingJue demanded like a petulant child.

'Really Da-ge! I never knew someone like you was so interested in gossip.' XiChen chuckled.

'Well, if it's about my one and only best friend then, of course I am interested. Now, come on, start with your story.' Mingjue said impatiently.

'Okay, okay, but not here. I don't want it to be heard by anyone else. So let's go to one of those rooms.' Lan XiChen got up and left the common room with MingJue following him. WangJi and Huaisang narrowed their eyes at both the friends, but neither said a thing.

Choosing a room, XiChen and MingJue got comfortable before XiChen began with his story.

XiChen's POV

It was the fourth spring after Muqin had left us. WangJi was still not ready to accept her death. So Shufu decided to take him along with us to the Discussion Conference in Qishan for a change of scenery. It was my first time going to Qishan. I had been warned enough times about it that I was sufficiently uncomfortable with WangJi accompanying us. Throughout the journey, I was worried about him. He wasn't like other kids I had seen in our sect or any other sects. There could be many elements wanting to harm WangJi in Qishan. That thought itself kept me on my toes. But Shufu was unusually adamant that WangJi would be safe there. Till today, I have no idea why, when we have already got the first-hand evidence that QishanWen was not above using any kind of tricks to get what they wanted.

Anyway, coming back to the point, we were already sitting in the discussion conference, and I was busy talking with Da-ge. A few minutes later, as I turned to WangJi to include him in our conversation, I was shocked to find him missing. I didn't want to worry shufu, so I slipped away silently after making excuses to Da-ge. I was running through the passageways and lawns, fearing that my A-Zhan was in some kind of danger.

Almost fifteen minutes had passed, with no news from my brother. I decided to inform Shufu when I heard two distinct barks. I looked in that direction in the hopes of finding WangJi. Unfortunately, he wasn't there, but I saw a young boy in purple robes and a head gear belonging to the sect heir. And I realized that he must be the Jiang sect heir.

He was playing with two puppies, feeding them, petting them, and animatedly talking with them. The scene was cuteness overloaded. I couldn't move a single step ahead, even though I knew WangJi was still missing. But the innocent laugh and sweet smile of the little Jiang Heir was more magnetic than anything else. In our sect, I hadn't seen anyone laughing so naturally. He was like a breath of fresh air in the stifling Qishan. Distinct sound of footsteps woke me up from my trance and moved from there in search of WangJi, but not before taking one more look at the cute boy.

I was just on my way to Shufu when I finally spotted a small figure in white mourning Lan robes standing near a small gate. I immediately rushed towards him and hugged him tightly, 'A-Zhan, where were you? Do you know how worried I was? And what are you doing here?'

I asked without even taking a breath. WangJi hugged me back, 'WangJi apologizes. Lost', and then pointed at something.

I felt pity for him. He was not used to this place and lost his way. I looked in the direction he was pointing out. There were a few rabbits playing in a grass field. It was such a beautiful sight, but quite unlikely at the same time. I had never expected to see such a heartwarming sight in the Nightless City of all places. Finally I took WangJi with me back to the conference hall.

When the discussion was paused for the day and everyone was sent to rest, I had WangJi settled with Shufu before going on a stroll myself. For a young me, that day was a roller-coaster of emotions, and I wanted to find a moment of peace.

I was taking a stroll when I heard a loud shriek. Worried that someone was in danger, as the voice seemed to belong to a kid, I went in that direction. I saw a small kid of almost WangJi’s age, in purplish-white robes and a significant red ribbon in his hair, stuck all the way up on a tree. Now that I think of it, I think that was Wei-gongzi.

He was scared shitless looking below the tree. I thought he was scared of the height, but it turns out he was terrified looking at the two dogs standing below, just beside the tree. I was about to go help him when I saw a blur of purple rushing past me and shooing off the dogs  without a moment of hesitation.

I squinted my eyes and was shocked to realize that he was the same boy from the morning. He looked at the top of the tree and bellowed, 'A-Xian, they are gone. Now come down. It's okay. It's safe. I have sent them away, and they won't come back.'

'But what if they find me again when you are not there?' Asked a stuttering Wei-gongzi.

'Then I will rush back to you from any corner of the world and shoo them away, just like today. I promise.' The young boy said resolutely. And I could see that he very well meant it.

Wei-gongzi seemed to have calmed down after hearing it, as he came down and immediately hugged his brother, 'ChengChenggg... you are the best shidi in this world to this poor shixiong.'

Jiang Cheng frowned, 'Who are you calling ChengCheng. Don't you remember that you have to use courtesy names now?'

'Really???' Wei-gongzi had the same mischievous glint in his eyes like nowadays, 'But I heard someone calling me A-Xian.'

'You must be hearing things.  I called you Wei WuXian. Your ears must be ringing after hearing all the barking.' Jiang Cheng made excuses. But he was successful in diverting the topic, as Wei-gongzi grimaced remembering the dogs.

'Yeah, you must be right. Okay, let's go, or Jiang-shushu would start getting worried for us.' He started moving from there.

'Umm.... Wei WuXian, you go ahead. I have a bit of work. I will finish it and join you.' Jiang Cheng said before going in the direction of the dogs. I followed him, though I had no idea why. But my insticts screamed at me to follow him.

Soon, I stopped at a distance as I saw him pausing in front of the two dogs. I was curious to see what he was doing. I saw him pulling something out of his sleeves and giving it to the dogs. He sat down beside them and made them eat the food he had brought for them.

Petting them slowly, he muttered, 'Hey little guys, I am sorry to have shooed you away. But you see, A-Xian, my shixiong, who is more like my didi, is very scared of you. So I can only ask you not to come in front of him. I don't want you guys to get hurt, neither for him to be scared. So please don't go in front of him. Instead, I will come to visit you every day, as long as I am here. What say?'

I was surprised at his words, for such a young boy of his age, it was a very mature thinking. My young self was floored by Jiang Cheng’s young self. And I guess that's when I fell in love with him. Every conference following that, I was watching him secretly, and every time, he took away a bit more of my heart. But I don't regret it.

Pov ends.

There was a complete silence once XiChen finished his story. MingJue was looking at him in shock. He remembers that discussion conference very well. It was just after his father's death, and he was still not completely in his senses as he was worried about his younger brother like XiChen. So he had missed out on XiChen being a lovesick puppy.

'But, I still don't understand how I missed out on this fact all these years, if you are pining after him.' Mingjue asked him.

'Oh, come on, Da-ge, I am not learning to be a sect leader for nothing.' XiChen's eyes shone with mirth.

'You are such a fox, XiChen. Poor Jiang WanYin.' Mingjue guffawed thinking about the future of his friend's future husband because there was no doubt in his mind that XiChen wouldn't pursue Jiang WanYin to the end of the world.

Unknown to them, a pair of ears who had heard the entire conversation were stumped in realization and gulped at MingJue's insinuations.

Jiang Cheng had come into the room to clear his mind. He couldn't think clearly. Him and his siblings were suffering so much, only because his parents couldn't get their act together. He wanted some time to think it through. In all the confusion, he hadn't realized which room he had entered. But, a few moments later, he heard footsteps coming in his direction. The door was clicked open. In his haste, Jiang Cheng just hid behind the bed. For a second there, he thought, 'Why the hell am I even hiding?'

But then, he was already behind the bed. It would be embarrassing to come out then. So he continued hiding there, unaware that the following conversation that he would eavesdrop would completely change his life. And that is what happened when he realized that the First Twin Jade of Lan, the most handsome man on the "List" was head over heels for him, and not since today, but a long time ago. His brain short-circuited as he sat there and thought of the smiling face that always coaxed him into submission without even saying a word. Lan XiChen always had a hold on him, and he realized it just now. The realization was so profound that Jiang Cheng didn't even realize when he had been left alone in the room. His mind kept repeating all his meetings with XiChen in the loop.

'But, I would thank Wei-gongzi for this chance. I can pursue WanYin now much much earlier. This is going to be great.' Jiang Cheng missed put on this part of XiChen's declaration as he was still in trance. Otherwise, he would surely have cursed Wei WuXian for being responsible for giving him a shock for a lifetime.
                          *******************

Wen Chao was busy snickering over with Jin ZiXun as everyone else got busy with different groups, like XingChen and Wei Ying, who were talking up a mountain, while Song Lan and Lan Zhan just sat together looking at the both of them. Song Lan was at least giving some inputs, but Lan Zhan was completely silent except, looking intently at Wei Ying sometimes.

ZiXuan and YanLi wanted a bit of personal space from each other to sort out their feelings. They had to separate their future selves from the present ones. Whatever they were gonna see hereon would be a version of theirs that could have been them once upon a time. But right now, they were not the same person anymore. So, they had to mold themselves like that.

Meng Yao, who was sitting alone, was soon pulled into the group by Wei Ying. As were Wen Qing and Wen Ning. It looked like an odd group. But it's not like it mattered anymore. Seeing everyone busy, Wen Ruohan showed his eyes to Wen Chao and made a beeline to one of the private rooms at the same time as XiChen and MingJue had gone into the other room.

'Father, is everything okay? You called me here urgently.' Wen Chao asked as soon as he came into the room, only for his father to smack his head.

Wen Chao looked shocked and stared at his father, who only sneered at him. He sighed and looked at his clueless son, 'Chao-er, how can you be so stupid? Use your brain and think carefully. Is it wise to antagonize the one person who might have been instrumental in our sect's complete annihilation?'

'But Father, if that is the case, shouldn't we try our best to finish him off before he can even cause such a problem?' Asked a confused Wen Chao.

Wen Ruohan took a deep breath, 'Tell me Chao-er, if he is powerful enough like that, wouldn't it be wiser to have him on our side, rather than against us? He is much better alive than dead. Look at all those ingenious inventions of his.'

His eyes shone with appreciation. Though you could say greed was just as much palpable in them. And to be honest, anybody would be greedy enough to want a piece of Wei Ying, after all that has been revealed. That was basic human tendency.

Wen Chao had seen that expression on his father's for the first time in his life, and even that was for someone else. Jealousy rushed through his veins as he frowned at the thought of Wei Ying receiving his father's affection. Wen Zhuliu was already on the list. At least he was more of a servant. Wen did not want another to be added on the list, too. As it is, his father did not trust him one bit. Wei WuXian coming into into the picture would completely obliterate Wen Chao.

'Father, that Wei Boy is just a kid right now. What can he even do?' He sneered.

His father glared at him again, 'Heavens, what have you learned in all these years? When would you start using your brains? Didn't you watch what that boy was doing in his days at Cloud Recess? He is capable enough to be that same Fearful YiLing Laozu, even at his present age. So don't even underestimate him. If anything, learn a thing or rwo from watching him. I am your father Chao-er. I am more clear-headed now than in all these years. So, I want you to be capable enough as a Wen Sect heir.'

Seeing his father worried for him, for the first time, Chao-er felt ashamed and just nodded before leaving the room while contemplating all the knowledge he had gained in these few days.

Looking at his son's drooped shoulders, Wen Ruohan felt the same wrath igniting inside him like the one that ignited all those years ago, when his choice in life partner was snatched away from him Helplessness was not something he could deal with so easily.

Years ago, his father had created such situations that had left him helpless. He couldn't even stop his own breakup. Getting separated from his lover had broken something in him, and things had spiraled down from there. Standing here today, and looking between an orphan like Wei Ying and his son, he thought to himself, 'You were wrong, father. You might have had more worldly experiences than me, yet your decision was wrong. That wretched woman destroyed whatever visions you had for your grandsons.'

Look at that boy, Wei WuXian. He lost his parents since he was young and has been adopted into a sect that seems to hate and adore him at the same time. But he is so capable that he brought us all here to this amazing invention. He had no responsibility whatsoever to let us rectify our mistakes. But he did. A person doesn't become great because of his/her lineage only. It's the teachings of the family and life experience together that makes him a perfect man.

That woman knew nothing except greed, and you let her besmirch our family line. I do not regret my sons. But I do regret listening to you and marrying that woman.'

His thoughts paused as he saw the door being opened and QiRen entering. It seemed like he hadn't realized about Ruohan's presence yet. A smirk appeared on his face as he saw His Lan entering through the door in a contemplative silence. And then, without a warning, he pinned Qiren to the wall, taking him by surprise.

It was only the rules, long ingrained in his blood, that saved him from the undignified squeal that was about to leave his mouth.

'What the do you think, you are doing Ruohan?' Lan QiRen gritted out.

'Looking at you, of course.' Wen Ruohan replied with that cheeky grin of his, that absolutely infuriated QiRen.

Trying to calm down, Qiren took a deep breath and said, 'Ruohan, someone may come and see us.'

'So what? It's not like I am doing you against the wall. What are you so afraid of?' Ruohan asked, his tongue rolling inside his cheek.

Lan Qiren smacked him on the chest, as a shriek of, 'Wen Ruohaaannnn, you idiot', fell off from his mouth. He glared at the idiot and tried to push him away. The Lan arm strength may be legendary, but somehow, it always failed in front of this man.

In between his struggles to push Ruohan away, QiRen did not realize, when Ruohan had raised his hand and caressed his cheeks. Lan QiRen’s eyes widened comically as he felt the familiar soft touches of Ruohan after so many years. The man's closeness, his cologne, and his touch together muddled his brain, and his struggles just stopped after a while. His eyes closed automatically as he felt Ruohan coming closer to his face. They were so close that they could even feel each other's breath fanning on their faces.

'A-Ren, this goatee makes you look so old. I know you grew this to irritate me. But please shave it off. It really looks hideous. I want my cute QiRen back,' Wen Ruohan whispered in his ears.

It had been a long time since they had stood this close to each other. Ruohan felt his heart beats picking up speed just like all those years back. It seemed like the years past were not able to change their innermost feelings.

With every passing second that they were getting closer to each other, their minds were starting to numb. Ruohan was just a hairbreadth away from his lips, when suddenly QiRen opened his eyes and pushed Ruohana way with all his strength and glared at him through his laboured breaths, 'Ruohan, we aren't what we used to be all those years back. You have children who are almost adults, just like mine. So it's better to keep away from each other.'

Saying so, QiRen went away from the room, not giving Ruohan a chance to even open his mouth. Ruohan, on the other hand, was so shocked that he had yet to come out of the trance. He couldn't understand just what happened. One minute, they were flirting and were almost about to kiss, and in the next, QiRen was not there. This was so much like those nightmares that plagued his sleep almost every day for the last 2 decades. He sighed and ran his hand through his face. He had his work cut out for him as winning back QiRen’s heart won't be easy. But he had time until this simulation finished. That was a lot. He thanked the future Wei WuXian for giving him ample amount of time to pursue his true love again. So he promised himself to win QiRen’s heart before they left this room. This would be the first change he would bring in his life.
                      *********************

Almost everyone had gone back to their rooms to rest. Only Lan Zhan was sitting in his place meditating as he still had his spiritual energy coursing through his veins, so he had to work on his cultivation, unlike others.

Wei Ying had initially followed his siblings back to rest. But, unable to do that, he had come out only to see his favorite Lan deep in meditation. But he must have heard Wei Ying’s footsteps, as he opened his eyes and looked at him. The both of them were looking at each other silently. It was getting slightly awkward, so Wei Ying just slid on the couch and sat there.

Both of them had no idea what to say. Whatever others might believe, but Wei Ying wasn't that much of a blind not to know when he was being shown affection. But Lan Zhan here had always been so cold to him. So he had no idea why the others felt that he was even remotely interested in someone like Wei Ying, though his heart surely fluttered whenever he thought of that possibility.

'You aren't sleeping.' Though, it was meant to be a question, coming from Lan Zhan, it sounded more like a statement.

'Even you aren't sleeping.' Wei Ying replied with a shrug.

'Need to circulate my spiritual energy.' Lan Zhan said in his usual clipped tone.

'Oh. (After a pause) Hey... Lan Zhan....' He looked at Wei Ying warily.

'Umm... well... actually, I wanted to thank you.' Lan Zhan looked at him with confusion this time.

'Well, with my memory,  I am not sure if I have said this yet. But thank you so much for taking in SiZhui as your own when you didn't even need to.' Gratitude shone in his eyes as he looked at Lan Zhan, whose only response was, 'Not me. My future self.'

'I know', Wei Ying chuckled before continuing, 'But I still want to thank you because I know that your future self might have been the one to take him in, but you aren't much different, if anything, a bit less bad memories and life experiences. But your inherent nature can never change. You are kind and beautiful and amazing and.... I mean, you are not named HanGuang-Jun for nothing. So....yeah... thank you, Lan WangJi. This Wei WuXian would forever be in your debt for accepting my child, loving and teaching him as your own.' Wei Ying bowed low.

Lan Zhan got up from his Lotus position and raised Wei Ying, 'Lan SiZhui is my kid too. And I love him just the same.'

Wei Ying’s eyes widened. First, because Lan Zhan, who never touched anyone, voluntarily touched him, was infact still touching him. Secondly, he openly announced his love for someone, especially SiZhui, in this case. But somehow, he understood him. SiZhui wasn't exactly their own kid, and he might not even belong to them in this timeline if they stopped all the wars. But the love they felt for him was far beyond all these technicalities. Saying nothing more, they both moved to their own rooms with a new shared acceptance between them.
                          ****************

A lot of time had passed since everyone had gone to their rooms to rest. But sleep had evaded Yu ZiYuan half of the night. Generally, she wasn't used to just sitting around doing nothing. Her spiritual energy needed to be released into nature. ZiDian wasn't just a spiritual tool like the other swords. Its name came from the fact that it actually used lightning energy from nature. That's why it was a Class 1 spiritual tool.

Anyways, that wasn't the point of discussion now. It was the fact that she was discovering so many new sides of her own children after coming here. It's like she never even knew them to begin with. And that realization hurt her deep.

Her own estranged relationship with her husband had never bothered her so much, as it did in these few days. Fighting with Jiang FengMian had become a second nature to her, without her even realizing it. It seemed that in the past few years, she had been so involved in herself that she didn't even understand her children anymore.

Though she did not sympathize with that brat. Nope. Of course not. But when he had questioned her intellect for even calling him names, she felt slightly embarrassed. It couldn't be anymore apparent that she absolutely lost her marbles when hearing anything, even remotely related to Cangse Sanren. However much she acts as unbothered, but the truth is that she lost her control over emotions many times.

She was aware that she had never liked the life of being just a dutiful wife or mother, but she loved her kids fiercely. To think that, she became so involved in her own miseries and emotions that she basically ignored her children's pain rattled the once unrepentant Violet Spider.

Throughout the resting time, she kept tossing and turning in the bed, unable to sleep. She might not care even the slightest bit for the bas... no...servant's son, but her children meant the world to her, so she would try to understand them better now.

Jiang FengMian was already a lost case. He could worry for the brat as much as he wanted. She would be enough for her own kids, especially when she thought how her little girl died so young. Her death was more of a shock to her than her own, and she hadn't been able to process it until now.

Thinking of a world without her little girl, a shudder passed through Yu ZiYuan. She realized with a start that she hadn't even spent some quality time with her daughter in all these years. She felt ashamed. But this simulation gave her so much time. She was determined to utilize it  to the fullest. For the first time in her life, even if only inside her head, she thanked Wei WuXian for giving her this chance. (Wei WuXian of future timeline sneezing continuously. Seems like everyone is thanking him and remembering him for his kindness and brilliance. Our cute bunny could only rub his nose in confusion. Hehehe...) With her brain brimming with countless thoughts, she slept a disturbed sleep but still a peaceful one, much better than other days, may be because her heart seemed lighter.
                             ****************

A few hours later, the viewers started trickling back into the common room after freshening up, only to find the little kids laughing and playing together. Turns out, Wei Ying had started a game and guided the three of them through it. As they all sat and enjoyed it, they realized that the game was in short starting the kids on their cultivation exercises. It's just that it was more animated and enjoyable and easy to catch up.

QinghengJun complimented as soon as he realized it, 'Good job, Wei-gongzi. It proves once again just how good of a teacher you'll make.'

Wei Ying bashfully thanked him before going back into the game, as others waited for the simulation to start again while talking amongst themselves.

Holla guys,

The characters are now resting. Tell me how you liked them so far. Many of you are more interested in XiCheng. So what do you think of their first meeting?

Lan Qiren and Wen Ruohan had been a split-second decision. So their interactions are also that way only. What do you all think Ruohan should do to win his "Lan's heart"?

Please vote and comment. Until the next time.... have a happy reading...❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
