Chapter 4 - Rise of the Corruption
3k ALREADY? Wh—how is a book with only 4 chapters getting this much attention-
Once again, another STUNNING art piece by DJG3N6
We ran into a smaller forest next to the city and climbed up the trees where the wolves can't reach us. They were still swarming below us and snapping viciously at our feet, but still out of reach, although a few of them sometimes managed to climb high enough to try and bite our arms off only to have their necks sliced by Luna's lethal propellers.
I observed the terrifying scene, trying to think of a way to get us out of this particularly tight spot.
Hold on. Something wasn't right.
I mean obviously, but I'm serious.
The wolves were still staying in the wrong place, away from the Tree of Life.
All Corrupted beings would automatically go after the Tree. It's natural, which was what I had learned about the last time the Corruption had spread. But these wolves are different.
Something is definitely wrong.
"Guys, I know this might sound crazy—"
"CYAN, WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR YOUR CRAZY PLANS!"
"I'm serious!" I yelled. "I'll have to go to the Tree alone! You guys stay here and distract the wolves!"
Before anyone else could object, I leapt off the tree and landed on the Corrupted grass below. A couple of those wolves tried to attack me, but with a couple of dashes I managed to dodge and lose them. I sped up to the direction of the Tree of Life, praying to it that nothing bad had happened while we were distracted.
The sky was visibly darker as if a storm was coming, but it wasn't as bad as when the Corruption fully took over last year. I breathed a short sigh of relief as I ran, knowing that it meant that the Tree was still safe and sound—for now. My breaths were short and ragged, and my legs were burning and screaming in protest, but I was so worried about the Tree's condition that I didn't even care. I really hope we weren't distracted from something even bigger.
I ran into the city, where the citizens of Paradise looked at me strangely as I ran. I could even hear a few confused whispers and see some shapes pointing at the rapidly darkening sky. As much as I wanted to warn them, it would take too much time and some of them might not believe me straight away. I got no time. The Tree's dazzling bright peak was straight up ahead, standing tall and bright in the city square, and I ran full speed towards it without stopping for a break.
My dark blue hoodie flapped behind me in the wind, and I've taken off my sunglasses, which hung on the collar of my shirt. My square pendant bounced merrily against my chest, waiting for me to use my powers again. Man, I wished I was wearing my usual dark blue blazer and shorts. Damn those fans.
I suddenly heard screaming behind me and I bit my lip with worry, but I couldn't afford to get more distracted by looking behind me. Oh, please let the citizens and Tree of Life be alright. Or else I might as well have failed in my role as a Guardian of Paradise.
After what felt like ages running, I finally reached the town square. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw that the Tree was still safe and unharmed. Now what? I clenched my fists with worry as I spun around. The townspeople were probably in danger, judging from the yells and screams that were getting louder. Some of the wolves must've followed me here.
I was about to run back to where I came from when I spotted a familiar hooded figure running speedily and effortlessly towards me. I squinted. "Lili?" I called. "What are you doing here?"
"Making sure you don't get killed somehow," she replied as she suddenly screeched to a halt right next to me less than two seconds later, giving me a pat on the shoulder. She was always a very quick runner. "That ass of yours is too important to leave without protection."
I just gave her a look. "Is that supposed to be a compliment or an insult? Because I can very well defend myself, thank you very much," I said indignantly, raising my fists. "I've got super strength, remember?"
"Well, yes," Lili smirked, "but you don't have super speed. With me, you can get out of a sticky situation with no problem at all."
"Sure. Whatever," I rolled my eyes.
"Oh, admit it Cyan, you're glad I'm here," Lili grinned. I just laughed, because it was true. I definitely wouldn't survive if I were to face a whole horde of vicious pink wolves on my own.
Or worse, its ruler. King or Queen, I don't know. But I really hoped it isn't a certain Queen...
I changed the subject. "So what's happening back there? Why are people screaming?"
"Some of the wolves followed you." So my suspicions were correct. "They started attacking the townspeople, but I managed to bring everyone I could see to safety. But man, aren't I drained..."
"Yeah, try not to dash too much outside of a Void," I helpfully reminded her. Like I had mentioned earlier, dashing too much outside of a void can really drain your energy. That's why I don't use my super strength that often, and neither does the other three. Only when we really needed to.
"Yeah, I know, but I had to save people. I—" Lili was interrupted by a sudden tremor on the ground. What now?!
It felt as if there was a giant had crashed its feet against the ground and causing the ground to shake. It wasn't that bad though, as if the giant was a rather small one. But whatever-it-was still caused the ground to shake, and that means it's something.
And there it was again. Another tremor, this time even closer. We both spun around, trying to look for the source, but there seemed to be none.
Until Lili looked behind me, and I've never seen colour drain so quickly from her face before. Before I could ask what was wrong or turn around myself, she suddenly leapt towards me as I heard a loud BOOM, and a second later, I was on the ground, enveloped in Lili's tight, protective embrace.
What the hell was that? With slight hesitation, I looked up, and my eyes widened with horror.
Standing tall and well over six feet, was a man with shocking pink hair and long, evil-looking black devil horns poking out, his skin a pale pink and his razor-sharp teeth a dazzling white as he bared them in a toothy grin. His eyes (one of which, the left eye, had a psychotic tic), which were just as pink as his hair, stared down tauntingly at me with a glare that could freeze the blood of any human who made eye contact. (It kinda froze my blood, too.) Some sort of strange amber-yellow colouration was swirling in that left eye. An upside-down pink triangle pendant hung around his neck. His black leather jacket with two long spikes on the shoulders (once again, pink), which was worn on top of a pure white shirt, and black jeans that ended with dark gray boots with pink accents just added to his intimidating look. I certainly went whiter than a sheep's fleece just by looking at him.
Not just because of his terrifying looks.
But also because I recognized him as the man in my dreams last night.
But this time, he had two massive spiky arm-like things made purely out of pink Corruption that consisted of one small ball, three larger spiky balls, and ended in one spiky circular thingy with three smaller circles that acted like fingers, all connected telepathically. They were seemingly connected to his back, lifting him off the ground as if they were his second pair of feet or something.
Jesus fucking Christ, this is some serious Spider-Man villain shit right here.
Now that the demon and I were face-to-face, I really couldn't help but notice that this Corrupted guy had a rather uncanny resemblance to Blixer.
The demon let out a spine-chilling cackle. "So, Square," he sneered down directly at me, and I swallowed. "Long time, no see."
Before either myself or Lili could react or say anything, the guy suddenly dropped to his feet and those two Corrupt arms shot towards us, and Lili let out a shriek of alarm as those arms pinned us down on the ground by our chests. I could hear Lili hiss in pain—I can't imagine what it's like to be a girl and have my chest getting pressed by some powerful Corrupt arm.
"Who are you?!" I demanded, trying to sound intimidating. But take it from me, it's pretty hard to show superiority when you're pinned to the ground by some six-foot-tall demon who looked much more terrifying than you are.
"Ah, where are my manners?" the demon said with faux politeness. He grinned. "Call me... Fresh."
Fresh.
That name was familiar somehow.
Unfortunately I had no time to dwell on where I've heard this "Fresh" name before as the demon looked like he was about to tear my head clean off my shoulders as he raised a clawed hand. Lili and I looked at each other, and we both immediately knew what to do.
We both dashed upwards, warping away from the deadly Corrupt arms before Fresh was able to hurt us, catching him slightly off guard. I took the opportunity to activate my strength ability, so I leapt and with a loud BAM, my fist connected to Fresh's jaw and he actually flew backwards on impact.
"We can't let him harm the Tree," I clenched my fists as I landed (kind of) gracefully on my feet. "Good thing we got here just in time, and I was right—the wolves are just a distraction!"
"Well you never told us that, you just went ahead and told us to stay and distract the wolves," Lili rolled her eyes.
"I couldn't lose more time, and—ah shit, here he comes again."
Fresh had indeed went back on his feet. The blow he received barely left a cut on his lower jaw, but it was enough to piss him off. He glared at me with rage, but then he eyed the Tree of Life, which was only a few meters away in front of him, and we all knew what was in his mind.
"Oh, no you don't!" I heard Lili snarl as she leapt forward between the demon and the Tree to act as a last line of defense. I ran towards him as well, ready to kick his ass, but was stopped mid-charge when a pink blur smacked me across the town square.
My back crashed against the wall, and I couldn't help but let out a pained moan. I really hoped that bastard didn't break my spine or something. As stars covered my vision momentarily, I could see Lili's efforts in delaying the demon.
She dashed and buzzed around Fresh, taunting and enraging him while landing slaps and kicks as he swatted around in annoyance, trying to catch her. "Can't catch me! Oh, you missed! Too slow!" She was definitely enjoying herself. I tried to take the opportunity of Fresh's distraction to try and stand up again and find the energy to dash, but God everything hurt like hell. I haven't been thrown across a town square since forever, my body had forgotten how it felt like.
But of course, Lili couldn't dash forever, and when she began to feel a bit tired, Fresh took the opportunity and his Corrupt arms grabbed her around the waist before throwing her away, letting her crash in a similar fashion as I did.
"You midgets are pathetic," he scoffed. And then he suddenly leaped into the sky.
He landed as gracefully as a cat on the peak of the Tree, and the two of us could only watch in horror as he grabbed the sides of a third of the Tree with both pairs of arms, and began to violently pull.
The mighty, legendary Tree bent slightly to the side as Fresh kept on eagerly pulling on it. It felt like deja vu—what the Corruption Queen did to the Tree last year was practically happening again, but this time it was much more violent. I finally managed to stand up and Lili had recovered as well, but it was too late as...
CRACK!
The gigantic Tree was ripped off from the ground.
oOo
A loud crack split across the air, and they all felt a considerably huge rumble. The trees they were sitting on shook, and when they looked up, heavy, pinkish storm clouds began rapidly covering the blue sky.
Ferris and Verdan's pendants visibly pulsed, as if in pain. And their owners winced as well. Suddenly, the snapping packs of wolves stopped attacking and turned their heads towards the same direction, before running off towards the city. Luna and Kinn's eyes widened. We've seen this before.
"The Tree..." Verdan whispered as he looked up, eyes just as wide as his two caretakers.
Kinn swallowed. "We have to go there. Now."
oOo
"NO!" I found myself screaming as I stared helplessly at the floating Tree of Life and the demon who greedily ripped it off the ground. The beautiful tree began to split into three pieces, forming a triangle; one at the top, and two on the bottom left and right, and the warm, ethereal glow it used to emit slowly faded and was replaced with a cold, dull aura.
Great. So much for being a Guardian.
A pink colour started to spread across the piece from Fresh's fingertips, rapidly Corrupting it. Without a doubt, I dashed upwards, using the second piece as a foothold, then leaped up again and hung on to the piece that Fresh had gotten hold of.
"Hands off my triangle, you useless, pathetic excuse for a Guardian," Fresh sneered down at me, but I wouldn't budge.
"It's Paradise's!" I shouted defiantly. "It was never yours."
He smirked. "Let's see about that."
With a single movement, he flicked me off the half-Corrupted triangle effortlessly and I screamed as I lost my grip, closing my eyes as I prepared to crash into the ground.
...wait, where was the wind rushing through my hair?
I hesitantly opened my eyes, but I realized that I wasn't falling at all. I was floating in total blackness, and the only things I could see are Fresh and the triangle he was holding.
Oh shit, I just entered a Void.
I looked around frantically for Lili, thinking that she had entered it as well, but she was nowhere to be seen. I guess I was on my own.
Loud electronic music started to play around me, giving me flashbacks of when I used to enter Voids back then. I haven't entered one in ages, because the era of Corruption was stopped, and I've almost forgotten what it feels like to be in one.
The thing about Voids are, none of the Guardians could use their special abilities, and Corruption always, always hurts here, so if you touch it, you'll lose one life out of the six lives you have. So as much as I wanted to cave Fresh's face in with my strength ability, I wouldn't have been able to even hurt him and I would just end up losing a life.
But hey, the cool thing is, I could dash for hours on end in a Void and I wouldn't even break a sweat.
Fresh hovered above the piece, gaze focused solely on the triangle alone. He didn't even look at me when I dashed carefully around the empty spaces of the Void. A dangerous mess of pink lasers and particles started to shoot out from the floating, spinning, half-Corrupted piece, following the beat of the song, and I began to dodge. I wasn't as graceful as I used to be, being slightly out of practice, but at least I could avoid getting hit by the Corruption. I don't know why, but it felt like the beatmap was much harder than the ones last year, it was kinda overwhelming.
A/N: All the levels that'll appear in this story are Hardcore levels, because I imagine that this is the "return of the Corruption," so naturally, the levels would be much harder.
The music started to intensify as Fresh suddenly grabbed hold of the piece and sank it into the ground point-first, as if he was trying to replant it. A tall wave of Corruption exploded from the ground on impact, and I barely managed to dash out of the way in time. Sparks and more lasers of pink erupted from the sunken piece as Fresh continuously punched it deeper into the Corrupting soil. It went deeper and deeper until...
The music scratched to a pause, and the piece trembled in the ground as Fresh suddenly flew up, out of the way and out of sight.
I didn't know what to expect as I stared at the quivering upside-down triangle, until it suddenly glowed pink and rose from the ground on its own.
With a blinding pink glow (and several more Corrupt lasers), a massive pink blocky something materialized from the triangle. I couldn't tell what it was until it started making more of those block things on top of each other, and that's when I realized that Fresh was building a tower.
Imagine building a tower at a time like this.
I was so surprised that I accidentally got hit by one of those lasers. There was a loud CRACK as I let out a shriek of pain, and my left arm was shattered with the Corruption, leaving just nothingness where it used to be. Instead of leaking a fountain of blood, it just leaked light blue square particles. It felt weird, missing an arm.
Oh don't worry, I wasn't hurt. Well, it does hurt when the Corruption hit me, but the pain receded and I only lost one life. But if I lose all my lives, now that's when you should worry.
The tower kept on getting higher and higher, the building process getting faster and faster until I was having trouble catching up...
Until finally the pink triangle stopped building (I couldn't see down below but we were definitely high up in the sky) and Fresh descended into view again. My eyes widened as I had the sudden urge to leap forward and grab it before he does, but Fresh snatched the triangle with his massive arms greedily and for the first time since we entered the Void, he turned his head to face me, a nasty grin on his pale pink face.
"Welcome to a new game, Square!" he cackled. My heart stopped for one second. The way he said it... it reminded me of someone but I couldn't think of who...
I could only watch, pale-faced, as he held the Corrupted triangle close to his own upside-down triangle pendant, and there was a bright light as the pendant began to absorb the triangle's power.
oOo
Lili sped through the thrashed, deserted streets hurriedly, arms clasping two large, dimly-glowing, and slightly heavy white triangles close to her body. When Cyan, a piece of the Tree, and Fresh suddenly disappeared in the air, Lili had a horrible feeling that Cyan and the triangle had entered a Void along with Fresh. Immediately after she realized that, she quickly gathered the two remaining pieces (which shrank into the size of her entire torso as soon as she touched them) and bolted straight to the direction of the small woods the others were seeking refuge in.
But she had only made it halfway when she bumped into Verdan and Ferris, closely followed by Kinn and Luna. Naturally, they stopped in their tracks in shock when they noticed the two large white triangles in Lili's arms.
"Wha-"
"The Tree of Life is torn from its roots," Lili immediately answered Luna's unspoken question. "It split into three pieces - I managed to grab two. I can only hope that Cyan's able to grab the last piece in that Void - but I doubt any of us could've done anything in a Void anyway."
Ferris's jaw dropped while the rest just stared at Lili in shock. "Wa-wa-wait, so Cyan is stuck in a Void? The Corruption is actually back?" Ferris looked like she wouldn't believe it. Lili sighed - she didn't want to, either.
"You can see very clearly for yourself," she said, nodding at the dark, stormy sky swirling with ominous thunderclouds, "and when pain pulsed through our bodies as Fresh tore the Tree apart."
"This Fresh guy is our new enemy?" asked Verdan.
"He might as well be the new Corruption King," Lili said grimly. "Look, we haven't got time to spare. We've gotta bring these pieces to safety, and fast. Cyan could be ejected from the Void any minute now, and we don't want Fresh to collect the rest of the pieces."
Luna looked at Kinn, and the gentle woman nodded. "We'll take the pieces."
"And we," Verdan said, "will take care of Fresh."
Not even a second after Verdan spoke, there was a loud rumble, and a pink circle appeared in the sky high above where the the tip of the Tree used to stand. And out of the pink circle, cartwheeling uncontrollably, came a screaming cyan-haired figure.
"That's Cyan!" Kinn pointed upwards, alarmed. Luna immediately whirred her propellers for take-off, but Ferris stopped her.
"You guys hurry and take the triangles to safety!" she said. "I'll get Cyan."
Luna nodded. "Good luck," said Luna, and "Take care," said Kinn. Then without another word, the two ran the other way, towards the safest place they could think of, each carrying a piece of the Tree of Life.
Meanwhile, Ferris dashed and leaped high, high up into the sky, carefully positioning herself in the direction Cyan was flying. Two seconds later, Cyan landed into Ferris's arms with an audible "oof," shaken and with a missing arm and leg (which were growing back in a flurry of blue square particles), but otherwise alright.
"All right there, Cyan?" Ferris chirped as they descended towards the ground, going with a soft landing on Ferris's springy feet. The ginger-haired girl gently brought Cyan to his feet, and he staggered and held on to Ferris's shoulder for balance.
"Th-thanks, Ferris," the cyan-haired teen said shakily. "Fresh - he took the triangle - he made a fucking tower-"
"Tower?" Ferris looked confused. There didn't seem to be any towers around here. But then sure enough, the circular Void entrance disappeared, and with a rumbling crackle, a gigantic and impossibly high pink obelisk suddenly appeared out of nowhere, taking the empty spot where the Tree of Life used to stand. And hanging on the side of the impossibly high tower, wearing a taunting, toothy, multi-fanged grin, was a demon with menacing devil horns poking out of his neon pink hair, wearing a black leather jacket and holding a massive pink and black cannon-like weapon.
"That's him," Cyan confirmed before Ferris had the chance to ask.
"Let's go kick his ass then," Ferris grinned, as Lili and Verdan caught up with them.
Verdan's eyes twinkled as he saw the grinning demon perched on the side of the tower. "That's the guy?" he asked.
Cyan grimaced. "Yeah," he replied. "He's over six feet tall, looks so similar to Blixer, is thrice the asshole he is, and he's got a fucking cannon."
Lili's eyes widened with surprise as both Ferris and Verdan's faces brightened up at the mention of 'cannon'. "Ohoho, now we're talking!" Verdan cracked his knuckles, optimistic and ready as ever. Time for the real fight to begin! But the two's smiles slightly faltered when they saw the look on Cyan's face.
"What's the matter?" Verdan asked.
"Oh, y'know," Cyan said with mock casualness, "Blixer disappeared and only a day later, this guy coincidentally appeared out of nowhere. And then I managed to lure a deadly pack of Corrupted wolves out of a forest and lose three pieces of the Tree of Life, all in one day. I mean, so much for being a Guardian."
Lili, Verdan and Ferris looked at each other, and smiled at Cyan. "Who said you lost all three pieces of the Tree of Life?"
Cyan perked up. "Wait, you mean you guys have them?!"
"Kinn and Luna are carrying them to safety as we speak," Lili nodded reassuringly. "I collected them myself while they were floating in midair. Don't worry, Cyan. You're not a failure, and hell, if it makes you feel any better, all four of us are kinda failures ourselves for managing to let some demon rip the Tree apart."
"That... makes me feel better, I guess." Cyan gave a small uncertain shrug, and Ferris pat his back.
Verdan gave a small grin. He looked around for a bit. "Okay. Now that Kinn and Luna are hopefully far enough in a safe distance from here, we'll just-"
"Finished with your pep talk?" interrupted a booming voice as someone huge crashed next to the four and caused them to fall over. It was Fresh.
"Come on," he bared his fangs in a wicked grin as he hoisted his cannon up his shoulder, aiming it at the four - but more specifically Cyan. "I don't have all day."
His eyes then trailed from Cyan to Lili, and then they narrowed menacingly. "You," he snarled. "Hand over the last two pieces of the Tree!"
"I don't have them," Lili said coldly. At least, not anymore.
"I know you're lying, you little blonde midget. Hand them over!"
"How about you shut the fuck up so we can beat up your ass?" Cyan snapped as the four stood up.
Fresh roared with laughter. "Oh, I'd like to see you try, Guardians of Paradise," he said in a mocking tone.
There was a high-pitched noise coming from the cannon Fresh was holding, and Cyan jumped out of the way just in time as multiple large, spiked pink balls hurled at where he had stood.
"Keep dodging his attacks!" Cyan shouted at Lili, Verdan, and Ferris, who were dodging a dangerous swipe from one of the Corrupted arms and a deadly blast from the cannon. Lili sped around the demon to confuse him, Ferris used one of the arms as a foothold and gave a nice kick across Fresh's face as she jumped, Verdan jumped and hung on to Fresh's neck with his basketball-player strength, and Cyan also threw a powerful kick at Fresh's legs that nearly tripped him.
But Fresh only looked as though he was only swarmed by four annoying flies. "That's the best you've got?" he sneered, blocking a punch from Cyan. He raised his hand and snapped his fingers.
It seemingly had no effect whatsoever, but then suddenly, out of nowhere, people with vibrant pink hair and pale pink skin burst out of nowhere; from behind bushes, buildings, and shops, filling the streets in astonishing numbers, their eyes bleeding black tar-like substance, sockets as empty and hollow as voids. The Corrupted rapidly surrounded the four Guardians like a horde of zombies, and Fresh only smirked at the expression of fear on their faces.
"The people," Lili croaked, horrified. "He must've Corrupted a few on his way to the Tree and it spread everywhere..."
And indeed, none of them had noticed the neon pink colouration that had spread through the buildings around them.
"Correct, sweetie," Fresh said casually, examining a clawed hand. "It wasn't hard, most of them just ran around screaming pathetically..."
Ferris snarled. "You monster. You should've just dealt with us and left them alone!"
Fresh gave her a look of faux surprise. "Now why would I do that? I am the King, after all. I need my own loyal citizens for my own kingdom, otherwise it would've been boring and empty. Now..."
He flashed another wicked grin at Cyan, who was glaring at him with the look of deepest fury swimming in his eyes, "I've got business to settle with the cyan Square. I'll deal with you three later as well, don't worry," he added generously, in case they were feeling left out.
"Uh oh," Verdan swallowed.
Suddenly, with a graceful flick of Fresh's wrist, the army of Corrupted, who had been standing still as a statue for the past five minutes, sprang to life instantly. Most of them had their hollow black eyes set on Cyan, and the rest of them jumped ferociously at the other three.
"Shit," Cyan swore as a Corrupted grabbed hold of his hoodie after he landed a punch that blew back three Corrupted at the same time. It turned out to be one particularly strong woman. Muttering an apology under his breath, Cyan kicked at the Corrupted woman's ankle, and she recoiled in pain.
"We're outnumbered!" Verdan, the smartest guy of the group, yelled. Cyan agreed - as powerful as his abilities were, there was no way he could fight hundreds upon hundreds of Corrupted people and protect his friends and himself on his own, and even though his friends could put up a good fight themselves, none of them were as powerful as Cyan.
They needed to retreat - for now.
"C'mon, I'll take you guys outta here!" Ferris, the highest jumper of the group, shouted as she jumped on a Corrupted's head, effectively knocking them out. "Verdan, Lili, grab my hand! Cyan, hold Lili's!"
Unfortunately, Cyan was in a considerable distance away from Lili's outstretched arm, blocked by a bunch of Corrupted. His arms began to feel heavy with exhaustion as he smacked a couple more Corrupted to the ground. He could hear Fresh's taunting laughter behind him.
At last, with his remaining energy, he managed to kick aside the group of Corrupted who were blocking his way. He was just reaching out an arm to grab Lili's outstretched one when he saw her eyes widen-
"Cyan, LOOK OUT!"
Something exploded behind him, and he launched quite two feet into the air because of its impact on the ground. He landed with a loud thud and his face scraped the ground, earning himself a nasty scratch on his right cheek. He groaned as he tried to stand up, arms wobbling like jelly as he tried to push himself off the ground.
But as he did, something powerful and what felt like a huge, strong hand violently grabbed ahold of his neck from behind, the sudden weight making his arms collapse and caused his face to smash against the hard dirt. Blood leaked from his lip. The hand was blocking his windpipe, almost crushing it as it lifted him clear off the ground.
He snapped shut his eyes as he desperately thrashed around in its grip, opening his mouth to scream yet unable to make a single sound. He tried clawing at its arm, he tried kicking, even though his legs couldn't even reach their huge body, but it was no use. His energy was drained from all that fighting and he could barely find the strength to dash. He was completely helpless.
With difficulty, he opened his eyes little by little, and what met his gaze, the monster that was currently crushing his neck, was absolutely terrifying.
Fresh had another one of his claws was raised above his head like a deadly set of blades, a nasty, psychotic grin of pure evil plastered on his face. He looked ready to strike into his heart, and then it would be over.
One of his electric pink eyes had a psychotic, crazy tic that pulsed rapidly, as if dancing with victory. His glare was bright and dazzling, and the look of death was swimming in them.
He couldn't stop it. The claw launched itself towards the direction of his chest...
There was a shriek of alarm, an angry exclamation, a pink blur, and a sharp pain on his noggin before everything went black.
