*Chapter Twenty Two*
There was faint music playing that only got louder as the lights went blue.
Sept came into the room opposite him. Nothing much changed, except they were short again, and like their brother, was a skeleton. Their eye sockets were empty, but as they caught sight of him, one began to glow a bright blue.
"You came to the wrong neighborhood, kid." they shook their bony head.
No. Something told him that this was the boss to kill him. This was a fight he would never win.
You aren't real, you aren't real. Matthew began to approach them, talking in the hypnotizing voice. "Sept, why even fight anymore?"
Sept, in response, drew out a pistol and aimed right for his heart.
I know you won't kill me.
Something in Sept's expression changed. The blue glow went a soft amethyst color. The gun was now pointed at their own head.
The strangest part was Matthew was controlling them as though it was his own body.
Sept pulled the trigger and was killed instantly. The music stopped.
Matthew had to be forced back into his own body. But it was okay, now he could get the last button, which was attached to their gun.
"We have them all." Matthew sighed.
"Uh...." Lewis clung to his shoulder. "You touched the button after 6 am."
Matthew's eyes widened. Did he lose? Was this it?
"Let's go." Matthew dashed out of the tent as fast as his bruised legs could go, running to the house as the world around them faded to white.
Matthew got in by the time the house was the only thing left.
"You loooooost, little rabbit." Alter Pit's demented voice greeted him. It stood in the hall, holding two violet eye buttons and a threaded needle. "Now, you are going to stay here forever."
Fear overtook him. He wasn't going to die here.
"No. I'm" Matthew grabbed Lewis out of his bag "NOT!"
With that, he threw the doll right at the monster's face. Lewis shrieked, his plushy hands digging under Alter Pit's button eyes and tearing them off.
"YOU INSUFFERABLE LITTLE BOY!" Alter Pit roared, swiping at Matthew.
But he and the doll dived underneath it, scurrying for the door.
Matthew could hear its claws scraping against the now black tunnel as he scrambled out and back in his own world, slamming the door on its hand.
For a few seconds, Matthew leaned against the wall, holding Lewis and breathing heavily. He needed just a bit to recover. Then he stood up.
