*Chapter Nineteen*
A loud, shrill scream echoed over the forest, cutting off what Matthew had been about to say.
"That's not good." Lewis whimpered.
"Ah shit, here we go again." Matthew drew out his scythe.
The scream rang out again, this time accompanied by a bright orange glow.
"It breathes fire." Lewis told him, panic rising up in his voice.
A dark shape flew overhead, then landed in a heap of metal, flesh and bone.
Its body was similar to a dragon, with a long, chain link tail made of knives. It was covered in rotted fur, with leather bat wings laden with holes rising up from its back. There were so many rips and tears in its body, revealing the organs within.
Its draconic left arm was missing, replaced by what looked suspiciously like a lead water pipe. The other arm had decayed talons, revealing the bony fingertips.
The dragon's faces were individual horror shows. The right one, the main one, took the form of a green metal rabbit, with its ears nearly rotted away and multiple holes in its giant forehead. On its upper jaw, it had large buck teeth that could easily rip a man in half, much less a fifteen year old child. Its bottom teeth were sharp and glowed with heat.
The left head was skeletal, but the skull was oddly shaped. Its button eyes bulged out of its head, with daggarlike teeth ringing it's darker lips(?). The head clearly only followed what the other head commanded, even though it was capable of its own actions.
The dragon leaned in close to Matthew, so close that he could see his own reflection in the main head's polished black nose.
"Vinny," Matthew breathed as the dragon shot fire at him without warning.
He had just enough time to glitch(as he called his new power to go through things as though he didn't exist at all) through the flames, but was slammed back by the pipe-arm.
Vincent. That was the only explanation as to what this creature is. The pipe, the darker button eye that perfectly matched Vincent's, hell, even the short temper.
Matthew spat out blood, picking himself off the ground. He didn't get much time to defend himself, though. The knife tail whipped around, stabbing into his thigh and tossing him away again.
His head was thrown against a rock with a sickening crack. Blood oozed from the two wounds.
Vincent cackled, watching his prey get right back up.
"Vinny..." Matthew coughed up more blood. "Vinny, stop, please." It's me, your brother. Please, Vinny... Matthew focused all his energy into that, unable to fight. I know you aren't the real Vinny... but you wouldn't kill your own brother, would you?
Vincent stared into his prey's eyes, mesmerized. Why should he kill this little tidbit of a rabbit? His rotten eyelids drooped as he calmed down.
Matthew watched the dragon's actions. His eyes had turned a light lavender. Looking at his reflection in Vincent's nose, his eyes were faintly glowing magenta.
"That's right, Vinny. Calm down." Matthew kept talking to the dragon, stepping back so Vincent could lay his heads down to rest.
Naturally Matthew sliced both heads off once he was sure the creature was asleep.
