So Keith gets left at the alter in this AU. he is to marry Allura, despite the fact he prefers men as in the 1800's he would rather keep himself alive rather than find love. As for Allura, she would rather run off with her lower class boyfriend leaving her childhood best friend alone to mourn the only marriage that he wouldn't have minded to be forced to take part in, as well as their friendship.

 This leaves Keith alone in the woods walking home alone, after waiting for hours for her to show up, hoping his best friend didn't just betray him just so she could run off with a man he did not care if she slept with. Yet, as soon as he realizes she did he breaks down.

He was not going to keep him apart. He wanted what was best for her, so of course he would have let her see him whenever she wished, but why leave. She was his best and only friend. Was love really worth risking everything for? 

In his break down he finds himself sobbing as he puts a ring on a branch planning to abandons it there and going home to cry his heart out. Instead as he puts the ring on the tree branch he finds himself hard core sobbing laying against a tree unable to focus on much.

 That is until he hears someone ask if he is okay. He does not bother looking up wanting to avoid being seen in this mess. Instead he feels a hand cup his cheek making him look up to see a corpse holding his face. The man smiles kindly asking if his husband is okay making Keith scream. 

 Keith rushes off thinking this is a bad dream as Lance slowly follows wondering what is wrong with him. Then when he does catches up with him, Keith faints.

From here, the plot would follow the movie for a bit,  where Voltron members are just Lance's friends in the after life, and Keith is determined to go back to the land of the living to meet up with Allura to see if she really abandoned him or if something else was involved.

 This results in the plot changing to a road trip like plot as once in the human world Keith and Lance search for his best friend slowly falling in love as they do. As they travel it is discovered Lance was married once. While on his honey moon his wife had killed him and left him for another man. Afterwards he had been waiting for another lover who seems to be Keith as they slowly get closer.

 Eventually they meet Allura, who reveals she ran away because she and Lotor were expecting a child. She explains she would rather live in love than force both herself and her best friend to be miserable by faking who they are, and making a child live through that. Lance expects Keith to be mad, but instead he accepts it telling Allura he gets why she did it. Love is worth the risk.

 He wishes them the best and travels back home trying to decide what to do next. Lance pushes him on his response to his friend for a while, resulting in Keith saying he has caught feelings for Lance and being willing to do anything to stay together.

From here the story would end with a flashforward of 60 years where Allura wakes up in the afterlife after her death, and upon walking into a bar near where she wakes up she finds her oldest friend and his husband, still in their wedding clothes madly inlove with each other which continues on for an eternity.
