"The birds at school and the deer last night... just like the night I got trampled by the deer when I got bit by the Alpha." Scott scrambled to make sense of things, turning to face his friend in realisation as to what was going on. He had figured it out- connected all the dots- but Stiles still stood there in complete shock.
Cordy didn't know what he was talking about, but she knew that the events following each other couldn't be a coincidence. Everything happens for a reason.
"How many are there?"
Derek sighed, giving in to Scott's question. "A pack of them." Stiles turned his head and sighed in helplessness. Scott just stared back at him, wondering how on earth they were meant to take on another pack of wolves, and Cordy was asking herself the same question. "An Alpha pack."
"All of them?" Stiles spoke up in disbelief, he didn't know quite how there was a pack of Alphas on the loose. "How does that even work?"
"I hear there's some kind of a leader." Derek told them, admitting that he didn't quite know everything himself.
"Yeah, Deucalion." Cordy spoke up, the name sending a shiver down her back. Derek looked over to her in confusion, narrowing his eyebrows. "I know about him, he's been big part of my life recently. Do you know where he is?"
"No," Derek shook his head. "We know they have Boyd and Erica. Peter, Isaac and I have been looking for him for the last four months."
"They have your friends?" She stepped up to him, taking a deep breath as she did. They had already made their first move against them- against Cordy- and she had to help take them down. She couldn't let them win again.
"Yeah, we just haven't been able to track them down." Derek confirmed, nodding.
"Well, you can count me in to help find them." Cordy wasn't taking no for an answer. If anything, Derek and the others needed her help to find the Alphas. They wanted her more than they wanted the others. But there was one person they wanted more; the true Alpha, and Cordy was yet to find him or her.
"Let's say you find them," Scott stepped up to Derek until they were face to face, but Stiles hung back, sticking beside Cordy. "How do you deal with an Alpha pack?"
"With all the help I can get." He replied, looking down at Scott through his darkened eyes.
Scott and Stiles exchanged a look of contemplation, wondering whether or not they should join the fight. Then, they both turned to Cordy, searching for an answer. She nodded, but she wasn't keen on the idea of Scott and Stiles joining the hunt. Anything could happen, but there was no way they would back out. It had always been in their nature to help.
"Where is she?" A new voice spoke from beyond the other room, and the four of them turned to look at him in synchronisation. He sat shirtless, looking up at all of them through his wide blue eyes. "Where's the girl?"
The boy was a new face; someone Cordy hadn't been able to recognise. He was planted atop a light wooden table, a blue blanket thrown behind him. His eyes latched onto Cordy last, lingering over her face, trying to figure out if he knew her or not.
"I'm gonna assume you're not talking about me," Cordy spoke up when no one else did, walking over to stand in the doorframe, overlooking the room he was in.
"What girl?" Derek's voice rose up from behind, three pairs of footsteps following.
"The girl that was in the hospital with me. Where is she?" The boy repeated. "She saved my life." Cordy narrowed her eyes, turning around to face the others. Who was he talking about? She searched for the answer from the three boys, but none of them seemed to know either.
"She's probably still at the hospital." Scott said, certainty running through his voice.
"She might not be," Cordy argued back. In her time she had seen plenty of supernatural involved people outwit those not in the circle, and this girl could easily have done the same thing. She didn't know anything about her, and that meant she could be anyone. "We don't know who she is. She could have snuck out the back way or... someone could've gotten to her first."
"Cordy's right," Stiles nodded. "She could've kicked some Hospital staff's ass to get out."
"My mom would've called if she had." Scott scratched the back of his neck, a deep focus of thought settled on his face. A moment later he was scrounging around in his pocket, the clatter of keys jingling around. "I'll go check up on her. Mom should still be on her shift."
"If you get in another fight I won't be there to save you." Derek told him, a look of smugness in his eyes.
"What fight?" Stiles asked, speaking Cordy's thoughts. "You didn't tell me about a fight. Why didn't you tell me about the fight?"
"I'll tell you later." Was all he said before turning and fleeing the house, heading to the Hospital his mother worked in.
"See ya." Stiles shouted after him. He turned back to wave, but Scott was already gone.
"Who is she?"
"Me?" Cordy span around to look at the unnamed boy, who was staring back at her with curiosity. "Cordelia Stilinski. Or, as you'll call me, Cordy. What about you, pretty boy?"
"Isaac Lahey." He replied, a brief smirk washing over his lips. "Wait, you're Stiles' sister?"
"Yep." She elongated the word, popping the p. "Okay, now that the introductions are over, how 'bout we have a nice little chat." Cordy walked further into the cluttered room, choosing to sit next to the half-naked boy. She needed answers from him, and he needed to do the best he could to give them to her. "Can you describe the girl for me, Isaac?"
"She, uh, she had black hair, brown eyes. Five foot eight, maybe nine." Isaac recalled, struggle visible on his face.
"Well, that really narrows it down." Stiles stated, tilting his head to the side dramatically and while using a dull, idiotic tone. He patted Isaac on the back, who flinched. "Great job, buddy."
"Come on, Isaac." Derek spoke more demandingly, stopping to scowl at Stiles first. "We need specifics. Things that can help us."
"Uh, she was riding a motorbike, she knew a lot about the Alphas. She told me that they took my memory, or something like that." He paused, something sparking an interest in his head. "The gun she used, it shot some kind of electrical dart out of it, pretty much knocked them down with one hit."
"So she's skilled, and she knows about the Alphas." Cordy spoke her thoughts, trying to put it all together.
The girl had to be a Hunter; that was all she knew. She had to be a Hunter, it was there, in the description. But the gun; it was something Cordy was familiar with, and a type of weapon she had only ever seen one person carry.
Could it be that the girl who saved Isaac's life was the girl Cordy knew? Was it the same girl that had saved Cordy's life a few years before?
Everything seemed to click into place, the gears in Cordy's mind churning faster and faster. It all made sense. She had been after the Alphas then, but that had been ages ago. Could she be the same girl?
"Isaac, was the girl dressed in all black?"
"Yeah, why?" He asked, turning to fully face Cordy.
"Do you know something?" Derek narrowed his eyes at Cordy, as if trying to read her mind. "Do you know her?"
She nodded too quickly, causing a strange ache in the back of her head. "I know her. Braeden. She's a Mercenary; basically someone you can hire to do something for you."
"Someone hired her?" Stiles stuck out his chin a little, lifting his hand up to scratch the back of his head at the same time.
"Yeah. We need to find out why she was hired, and who by."
