Eva never knew exactly what her eye color was. Not even her father could tell and he has known her since day one when she was born.
There were a lot of things that made Eva wonder about herself. Sometimes, the way she'd easily understand some stuff or pick up some dance movements, her drawing, painting. Everything she did made her question herself. One moment she wouldn't even know how to hold a pencil in her art class and at the next she'd be an expert.
And those were the small things.
Things that at first glance no one would question but herself. But there was the issue of her eyes. She could sworn one day before leaving her house they'd be a pretty brown but the moment she returned home they'd be a whole different color. It's what brought her to think she was crazy and why she began wearing sunglasses anytime she left her house. Her dad didn't question her. As far as he knew, Eva suffered from migraines - not exactly a lie, though - and the sunlight bothered her that she had to wear them every time she left the house.
Eva didn't mind at all her eyes changed color, with time passing she got used to it. She just had to be careful though when she was at school to not allow people to see her eyes. One person noticing her eye color changed like a chameleon and she'd be in trouble. Something told her she would, she couldn't trust in anyone, not even her own father as much as it pained her to think that way but she knew he wasn't fond of what was different, specifically mutants.
Eva had a suspicion of that happening to her but she did not want to ask her dad because she heard him when that woman spoke in a conference about them. Her dad spat horrible things about them. If Eva happened to be one of them, she didn't want her father hating her. He was all she had. She was all he had. They had each other and she didn't want that to change.
But whatever powers Eva had, they weren't easily able to be hidden. Things she didn't know she was able to do quickly manifested that brought a few curious eyes to her. Some called her a prodigy girl, others thought she was doing drugs and there were some that began to suspect she was different. Eva feared the latter. Those were the dangerous ones, the ones who could tell people in higher places that they suspected she was a mutant.
It was why, Eva no longer tried to fit in. She tried to not to make it obvious that she was different. But, someone else had gotten their eyes on her. And she wasn't sure someone knowing that she was different was good... Or bad.
