20 | another CAT boy
Marinette didn't have much time to process the new information she was given, because Chat was once again reaching for her hand and pulling her into one of the rooms of the empty hall.
The bluenette barely stumbled in before her eyes locked on a man laying limp on the floor; he supported himself against the wall, but he didn't look very conscious.
"Oh my god," Marinette gasped at the sight of him; blood trickled down his arm from the source of the wound, and she's could tell the blood had been leaving from his body like a waterfall only seconds before hand.
Marinette rushed to Chat's brother in the blink of an eye. She was on her knees beside him in seconds as she began inspect the wound on his shoulder. It was obvious he had been shot multiple times that was for sure.
"Sir," Marinette nudged him very lightly in order for the man to open his eyes, "Sir, what is your name?"
He barely opened his eyes to look up at her before he whispered, "F-Felix."
"Okay Felix, listen to me," Marinette instructed as she quickly reached for an abandoned piece of clothing lying close on the ground beside him, "I am going to wrap your wound, you hear? I must stop the bleeding."
He nodded weakly, and that's when Marinette began to work. Taking her own piece of clothing off of her own chest, Marinette began to quickly yet carefully wrap is arm tightly to stop the blood flow. A couple of times Felix winced in pain, but it had to be done.
"We need to get him to the hospital," Mairnette informed Chat immediately.
Chat's eyes widened as he stared at her in complete bewilderment from the doorframe of the room, "Are you insane?" He questioned her, "If Felix is taken to the hospital, he'll be arrested."
"Oh, so he just happens to have a vendetta against the law too, huh?" Marinette scoffed sarcastically as she tried to discover how she would saves this man's life. "You do realize that without medical attention, Felix could die right?" She turned to look up at him, "I don't think we have a choice."
"Can't you do something?" Chat tried, "You're a doctor."
"Yes, you're right. I was a doctor," She emphasized the word, "And for being specialized in that field, I can tell you that he will need blood supplements because your brother has lost too much blood."
"You can't take him to the hospital." Chat demands.
"And you're going to stop me?" She quizzed, looking up to meet his eyes, "We have no other choice, Chat. If we don't, he'll die."
He sighed annoyingly, obviously not loving her idea. Finally, he nodded in approval, realizing their was really no other alternative for his brother's sake, "Fine, we'll take him to the emergency. But how in the world will this work without my brother being arrested?"
Marinette rubbed her chin in thought. An idea soon found it way into her head, and she snapped her fingers, "I've got it! But, for this to work, you must do exactly what I say."
〰
Chat Noir was impressed with Marinette's plan, because it was something he could easily pull off.
"That's brilliant!" He had praised, "I'll be there and back by the time you can say my full name!"
And he had exited that ragged room trough the only window it occupied, dashing out into the cold night to fetch what she had asked for.
Marinette took a seat next to the injured man's side. She watched him pitifully as he winced from the pain he was feeling, and his eyes barely could keep themselves open.
He was slowly dying.
It was hard for her to watch this man take on the horrid pain. Her inability to help this man made her feel awful.
"Miss?" Her eyes suddenly darted to the man who had barely whispered the word, "W-Who are y-you?"
She contemplated on simply saying she was a friend of Chat Noir's, but then it suddenly struck to her that Chat probably hadn't told anyone of their frequent visits and his devotion to helping a police officer.
"I'm simply a friendly police officer here to help," she explained coolly.
Felix seemed to believe her every word, because he dropped that topic suddenly and sprung another at her, "But you're i-in a-a grave danger, miss. There is a killer roaming f-free in this building."
He was obviously concerned for her sake, but right now, his sake was more important to her at the moment, "Sir, I am armed." She wanted to give him some sort of comfort, "Besides, what matters most is that you get medical attention as soon as possible."
"I am dearly grateful f-for your help, miss." Felix was so polite, that even as he was breathing his last breaths, he was thanking her, "Please, w-what is y-your name?"
After politely asking for her name, he began to shutter, for the cold winds of the night were blowing in from the open window. Because Marinette had used her outer piece of clothing to aid Felix's arm, the wind affected her as well, and she shuttered at its breeze.
"Marinette," she finally replied, "That is my name."
"Thank you, miss Marinette."
With the cold wind brushing against this injured man's skin, Marinette feared that Felix's life wouldn't make it much farther. His injury probably wouldn't have been as severe if he hadn't lost so much blood.
The wind blew in a bit stronger, and not only did it hit him, but it had the audacity to brush against her skin as well. Mairnette shuttered at the icy feeling she felt against her body, and the worst part of it all was she had no way to warm this injured man or herself.
"W-where is my b-brother?" Felix barely was able to whisper out.
Her eyes desperately locked on the open window of the room Chat had exited minutes ago. She had been expecting him to return soon, but he had been gone for some time now, and that slightly worried her.
"He should be here soon." She reassured.
As the wind began to pound itself more harshly into the confined space of the room, Marinette moved herself to sit in front of Felix to shield him the best she could from the cold air. Although she took the blow, it was worth it.
Felix immediately felt some warmth, but it wasn't going to help in the predicament he was in. Soon, he would take his last breath if Chat didn't hurry.
Suddenly, Marinette was startled by the sound of someone barreling through that window, and she was ecstatic to know Chat returned.
However, she had no time to scold him, "Let's get moving, Chat! We're running out of time!"
