I was beyond nervous about seeing Ava after our date. She probably got an earful from her dad and was regretting her choice to see me again. Plus, I wasn't sure if she would like my song. It had taken me all night, but I think it was good. She walked up to me and sat down at the table, smiling when I pulled out my guitar. I had told her I wanted to play something for her, but she had no idea what. I stood up and started to strum my guitar, before starting to sing.

We drove right past
That no trespassing sign
We sat on the tailgate
And watched the planes take off
We thought we had all night
There was no need to rush
That's when those cops
Came pulling up
And I thought
Man, ain't this some shhhh
Your daddy's gonna kill me
But if I survive tonight
I wouldn't change one thing
Baby, yeah
I know it sounds crazy
But there was somethin bout the way
The blue lights were shinin
Bringing out the freedom in your eyes
I was too busy watching you

To be worried about going to jail

They sure threw those cuffs on quick

And I laughed
He got mad and slammed the door

I finished singing and noticed the tears in Ava's eyes. I smiled and said, "I love you."

She stood up and hugged me before kissing me. She pulled back and whispered, "I love you too Owen." We smiled at each other and the people around us clapped. I looked around and noticed other people had tears in their eyes. We kissed each other again and sat down at the table.

That was twelve years ago, we've been married for eight years and we have a set of twins, Gabriella and Brendan. I don't regret our time in the back of the cop car and I know Ava doesn't either. I wouldn't change anything, she had stolen my heart that day and that's how we got to where we are today. Although, her father never did forgive me for getting his daughter arrested.
