Chapter 7

(3rd Person)

It was the day of the duel, (Y/N) stood in the waiting room of the theatre now turned battle area with his arms crossed, eyes closed and taking deep breaths. He was mentally preparing himself for this considering even though he knew this wasn't her, Francine still had both the face and the attitude of Asia.

Just as he took another deep breath, the door opened behind him, he hummed in curiosity but didn't turn. He heard footsteps approaching him from behind, the heels of the shoes clacking against the floor.

???: I know of the difference in power.

Phillip's voice was heard from behind (Y/N).

Phillip: And, I know why you would challenge my daughter to a duel, while I'm confident my daughter can fight in the arena, I ask you do not harm her in any way, she is the only family I have left. If anything were to happen to her, I wouldn't be able to tolerate your presence in Heaven False Devil.

(Y/N): Oh well, I can't exactly stand most people I meet these days anyway. It'd be no different than if I didn't hurt her. I'm fighting your daughter and if she ends up getting hurt, go cry about it somewhere else, you can't exactly threaten me with weak promises like that. Sure, you're a noble in Heaven, but at the end of the day, that means nothing to me. You try something just because I hurt your daughter and I'll make sure you will be begging to become a fallen instead of being trapped up here with me.

Phillip flinched at that, nodding nervously before quickly making his exit to escape the glaring (Y/N). Just as (Y/N) was starting to do his stretches, he had another visitor, another angel, although this one has more authority.

Gabriel: This isn't a wise move False Devil...

(Y/N): Maybe not, but, it's been said and done, nothing we can do about it now. If we cancelled the match, I would just ask for another until I get what I want, you'd be hurting the trust between devils and angels since the devils approved of this, you can't afford to start a war within this one, right?

Gabriel: Yes, quite a cruel way of forcing our hand if I must say.

(Y/N): And? Is that supposed to make me feel regret and that I should personally cancel this battle?

Gabriel: If it were you, our trust with the devils wouldn't falter, after all, one of their own is the one calling this match off, not an official from Heaven such as myself or Lord Michael. Plus, using my divine authority for something so selfish is a sin in itself, there's a possibility that I could become a fallen myself.

(Y/N): Oh well...

Gabriel: Oh well? That's all you have to say? You truly are a cruel individual, caring about no one but yourself...

(Y/N): Look, is this going to turn into a lecture about how cruel or selfish I am? If you think this will be some moment where I regret my decision, forget it, I've already accepted how badly my reputation is going to be after this, I don't care for stuff like that. I do what I want, not even Sirzechs or Michael can have a say in it.

Gabriel: I see... I must admire your determination at least, if only we had known about you before the fallen angels had never found you and Asia.

(Y/N): Heh, let's get one thing straight: I hate devils, fallen angels are close to becoming something I hate too, as for angels, you've already been on my shitlist for a while.

Gabriel: Why pray tell?

(Y/N): The same year I lost my family in the orphanage, you guys cast Asia out. Only because she healed a devil... isn't it a nun's job to protect and heal any who seem lost and hurt? What difference does it make that they're a devil? Your Lord was so cruel as to cast her out just because she had done what everyone else would see as a good deed, the only reason why it wasn't was because the recipient was a devil, you cast her out because she was doing what she thought was right.

Gabriel: I see... we cannot apologise for that, as our scriptures tell of having nothing to do with devils, even if we are on peaceful terms, we should never involve ourselves with...

(Y/N): If all you're gonna say is stuff about how Michael was right for casting Asia out, then fuck off, I don't have time to listen to bullshit.

Gabriel huffed slightly, a pout on her face as she exited the room. (Y/N) sighed while stretching his arms, only to grow annoyed as he had yet another visitor.

Heather: Younger brother! Normally I would approve of you going into combat, but against Mr Foster's own daughter is a decision you should revoke immediately! You should...

Without another word, (Y/N) just shoved his sister out, blocking the door with a sofa that was in there to stop any more visitors... then, just as he was about to begin stretching again, he heard a voice in his head.

Michael: Preparations are complete, we have quite an audience too, you should come to the temporary arena once you're ready...

(Y/N): Temporary arena?

Michael: We are not fond of violence, therefore no arenas were available for a match, however, using magic we were able to create an arena with the theatre, the arena will disappear once we let go of the magic.

With a nod, (Y/N) grabbed his trench coat, throwing it off before delicately placing it on the sofa which he quickly moved out of the way of the door since it slammed open once more, this visitor however was a little surprise to (Y/N) as he saw Koneko's blank eyes staring up at him.

Koneko: I just came to warn you out of kindness, Kuroka's been spotted in Heaven, so don't show off too much power.

(Y/N): A high-rank devil criminal is in Heaven? Sounds like your security's a bit lacking, Michael.

Michael: Quite the opposite, Kuroka is in fact a guest here in Heaven, Gabriel is overseeing the magic to keep her here. It pains me to ally with such a vile woman, however, when war is on the doorstep, you tend to seek the unlikeliest of help.

Koneko: She's dangerous, she murdered her former king of the peerage she was a part of.

Michael: I'm well aware of the woman's crimes Miss Koneko, however, for now we must overlook such sins in order to secure a thriving future for the supernatural world... now, if there isn't anything else, I must be guiding the False Devil to our temporary arena, it is time for the match...

Koneko grew a deep frown at Michael but quickly dismissed it when the ruler of Heaven glanced at her, she sighed, stepping aside which allowed Michael to go first, just as (Y/N) went through the door, Koneko noticed one off detail about him.

Koneko: Wait, what about...

(Y/N): I won't need it for this fight, keep it safe would you?

Koneko blinked in confusion, she watched the doors shut behind them with an audible click, she looked down at the jacket hanging on the back of the sofa.

Koneko: He never took it off for any other fight, heck, he even kept using it after his fight with Riser... so, why is he taking it off for that girl of all people?

(Timeskip)

The temporary arena was... massive, definitely something Michael did out of spite since it looked like a colosseum, either that or heaven were asking to watch the fight. (Y/N) however didn't mind it, instead he just looked up at the massive building with an indifferent expression while Michael smiled at him.

Michael: I do hope the arena is up to your standards, the walls are made from Heavenly Stone infused with magic, it's tough enough to withstand a blow from a Devil King.

(Y/N): Right... how long till it breaks apart do you reckon?

Michael: You may have Evil Energy and are powerful, however, you pale in comparison to a Devil King.

The boy turned to Michael, an unamused look on his face before his next sentence shook the ruler of Heaven slightly.

(Y/N): And who says it's going to be just my power in there?

Michael: What...?

Without another word, (Y/N) heads to what seems to be the entrance into where the fighters were meant to go. He kept walking through the empty halls until finally there were two doors, he saw both were different with the two of them having the names of the fighters on the doors: his own name was on the right while Francine was on the other, he scoffed at seeing that his was a simple plaque whereas Francine was a fancy one in cursive writing as well as having a crown on top.

(Y/N): I know she's a part of a noble family, but are they really expecting me to lose?

He entered the room to see it was much like a dressing room you'd see for actors back on earth with two mirrors opposite a desk which had all sorts of items on them, mostly make up and food. (Y/N) shook his head, taking an energy bar from the desk and opening it, chomping on the tasteless bar of food while looking around before finally spotting the massive door that most likely led into the arena.

(Y/N): Well now... I can finally be alone with my thoughts, no visitors to bother me... but still, if that girl wants to live, she better come at me with everything. I don't care if your face is Asia's, I don't care if your personality is hers... I will never let anyone get away with impersonating the only person who matters to me.

He chuckled, seeing as how he had gone slightly crazy from talking to himself, as he finished his energy bar, (Y/N) looked to see the massive door open along with blinding light peeking in, as well as the sound of a large crowd. He let out another massive sigh and then rotated his shoulders, turning his head to the left and cracking his neck before exhaling noisily.

(Y/N): Time to fight.

And with that, he started his walk which seemed to be one massive dark hallway which led to a small light at the end of the tunnel, the crowd cheering growing even louder as (Y/N) couldn't help but grow a sweat drop.

(Y/N): Didn't Michael say Heaven was against violence? They sure aren't any different from combat loving devils right now...

The light was finally reached, (Y/N) walked out, stones crunching against his sneakers as the cheers grew even louder at his arrival, he didn't even need to look to his left, he could feel Francine's gaze trying to implore him to look at her, (Y/N) didn't have any need for it, he instead walked to the middle of the arena, dragging his left foot across the floor and turning to face where Francine would no doubt start from.

Francine followed suit, a look of determination on her face as she appeared in (Y/N)'s vision, she was wearing an old battle armour that no doubt belonged to her father, both because it seemed to be a male's and it seemed to be battle-scarred from the old war, her determined gaze reminding (Y/N) greatly of Asia... especially the time when Asia refused to leave his side when they were attacked by Raynare and Kalawarner, it only served to deepen the oncoming glare on his face which made Francine jump slightly but then shake her head and regrow the determined expression.

Then, the crowd grew silent as on one of the balconies, Michael and Gabriel appeared in a holy blinding light that caused everyone except for (Y/N) to cover their eyes, (Y/N) merely stood with his arms crossed, uncaring of the light.

Michael: It is with reluctance that we indulge with a devil's wishes... however, as we all know: (Y/N) (L/N), the False Devil is one of the solutions to our problem with Adam (L/N). As such, we are meant to be kind hosts, therefore out of the kindness of our hearts, we judged this request for a match to be granted.

(Y/N): Well well... it's not like an angel to be lying, the ruler of all people as well. You learn something new about the supernatural every day I guess.

Michael: However, this will be Heaven's only spar fortunately, therefore we advise you to remember this match... to remind you how violence can ruin people so easily... and we hope to serves as a lesson to the False Devil as well.

(Y/N) chose to ignore that remark, instead uncrossing his arms and slowly shifting his position so that he'd be in one of his usual combat stances which was his left fist upward and clenched, his right fist behind him with his right leg and his left leg bent slightly. Francine responded by holding both her hands out, creating what appeared to be a light weapon in the shape of a bow as well as a quiver of light arrows appearing behind her.

Michael: Now... with all the leaders of each faction present to view this bout! Let our only battle in Heaven, commence!

(Y/N) then spotted the other balconies which contained the Four Devil Kings with Rias' peerage as well as the other balcony having Azazel and Vali, as well as what seemed to be a black-haired woman wearing a kimono... her biggest feature had to be the cat ears on her head, just as (Y/N) was paying attention to them, he noticed with frightening speed that Francine had already fired three light arrows towards him using the bow.

(Y/N) huffed, deflecting the three arrows with his left fist barely moving from its original spot, he then noticed that Francine began running towards him, pulling back on the bow and firing yet another three. This time, (Y/N) took a step back, ducking under the first, pushing himself up and allowing his legs to avoid the second arrow and then grabbing the third one, snapping it in half and tossing it aside just as he stepped aside to avoid a knee from Francine.

The Evil Energy user quickly socked the girl across the face, not even hesitating to attack despite her face being that of Asia's, he then grabbed her arm, pulling her back in and copying her from before by driving a knee into her stomach. Francine gasped, clutching her bow tight and swinging it down to try and smack (Y/N), only for him to block it with his arm and then deliver a nasty headbutt causing blood to explode out of Francine's nose.

However, that didn't seem to stop Francine as even when she went flying back, she managed to load a total number of six light arrows into her bow and then fired them, (Y/N) scoffed, crouching low before running towards her, swerving and moving to avoid every single arrow as he continued to run towards Francine. When (Y/N) finally made it to her, Francine went wide-eyed but managed to use her bow to block a fist coming from (Y/N) which would've sunk into her stomach and slammed her into the ground.

Francine: Where are you looking!?

Confused, (Y/N) backed off slightly, then went wide-eyed as he realised her shout and turned to deflect all of the reflected arrows that no doubt rebounded off the walls of the arena, he scoffed again, turning to see Francine ripping off a piece of fabric under her armour and tying it around her broken nose.

(Y/N): You look like an idiot with that makeshift bandage around your face.

Francine: If it will aid me in victory, I will gladly wear it, even if it makes me look like an idiot. Plus, it will help you fight me at full strength, after all, I don't look like your friend anymore, right!?

(Y/N) glared at her while baring his teeth, he then crouched low, getting into what seemed to be the same starting position for running. As he tensed, Francine wasted no time in creating a few more arrows, however, she was surprised when (Y/N) shot off so quickly she couldn't react as she found a fist in her stomach, then, (Y/N) back up, delivering an uppercut before kicking her away with a spinning back kick.

Francine went flying once again, however, she corrected herself mid-air and skidded across the floor, however, she then aimed her bow at (Y/N), this time loading ten arrows that barely fit on the bow. When she fired, (Y/N) just grew a deeper glare, walking forward while raising his right arm slightly. Francine went wide-eyed when she saw (Y/N) easily deflect every single arrow, not only that, but they shattered upon impact.

(Y/N): You want me to take this seriously, but, you're the one who's insulting me by firing nothing but light arrows at me! I'm no devil so there's no disadvantage when it comes to light weapons! If you really think you'd win by piercing me with at least one arrow, you're more naive than I gave you credit for!

Francine swallowed, suddenly changing her bow into what appeared to be a mace and then running forward with great speed, (Y/N) however just seemed greatly displeased, running forward and easily dodging the mace while grabbing her head and slamming her to the floor.

(Y/N): You're a fool if you think you'll win simply because of your expertise in light weapons... I can easily make those as well you know!?

To prove his point, (Y/N) made a light dagger, stabbing it into Francine's back and causing her to shriek in pain, shoving (Y/N) off her back and slamming her mace into his chest which sent the boy flying. (Y/N) merely landed on his feet, spitting out a small amount of blood while glaring at her.

(Y/N): You say I'm the one holding back? Because you have the face of a friend!? How about taking a look in the mirror!? You're the one who holds potential and yet you're insulting me by only firing light weapons at me! Unless you take this seriously...

Everyone gasped, some even fell to their knees as (Y/N)'s killing intent shot out of him, suffocating pretty much all angels in attendance as Francine grew wide-eyed in fear at seeing his death glare.

(Y/N): I won't hesitate to kill you on the spot you stupid girl...

Francine gulped again, however, this time she created a light sword and a light shield which she began charging with. (Y/N) frowned, raising a fist and waiting patiently for her. Once Francine got to him, she pushed her shield forward, but was surprised when the shield was knocked out of her grip by (Y/N)'s right foot, the fist heading for her now exposed face.

She blocked the attack at the last second using her sword and swept (Y/N) off his feet, she went to plunge the sword into his chest, but (Y/N) easily caught it, glaring up at Francine while slowly rising to his feet.

(Y/N): You... are one stupid bitch... did you think bashing people with shields actually work when your opponent knows you're coming right for them!? Did you think I'd just lay there and take that sword attack!? Don't get so cocky, I've been in more fights than you at noble parties! Don't think such an amateur move would work on me Francine Foster!

Francine puked up blood, hearing her ribs crack from the powerful blow (Y/N) sent her way. This time she lost her focus and the light sword disappeared, she again went flying while still puking up blood, she ended up face first on the floor, coughing up more blood while the bandage fell off her face which added an even bigger blood pile.

Whether the audience was cheering or booing, neither could hear, they were too focused on the current situation, Francine panting heavily while clutching her ribs and wincing from each breath, blood pouring down her face from both her mouth and her nose. And (Y/N) walking towards her while creating a light spear.

(Y/N): If you really don't plan on taking this seriously, I suggest you forfeit, I'm not stopping until you start going all out... you know what I'm talking about, right?

Francine: Wait... you mean...

She spat up a few more drops of blood, coughing all the while as she turned her head slowly, seeing (Y/N)'s determined glare.

Francine: When...? How...?

(Y/N): When? It was when we shook hands, that's why I backed away and instantly demanded a fight, as for how... I dunno, I'm more experienced with Evil Energy... but... I couldn't help but feel it within you... that's why I'm pissed with you. You've got that power stored in you and you're only coming at me with light weapons, that's why I haven't shown you my Evil Energy either... if you won't come at me with full power, I won't bother treating you like an opponent. Now... if you still care for your life, you'll bring that power out, now!

In Francine's mind, it was a circus: she was fighting between showing everyone that power or doing as her father says...

(Flashback)

Francine: Papa! Papa! Look what I can do Papa!

Phillip: Francine... you bad girl... never use that ever again...

Francine: What!? But, Papa...

Phillip: Are you disobeying me, Francine?

Francine: N-n-no Papa...

Phillip: Good, now, you must promise me, that you'll never use that power ever again, got it?

Francine:...

(Flashback End)

Francine: I can't go against him... he... he...

(Y/N): What the hell are you mumbling about? Come on!

Francine gasped when a foot kicked her ribs, making her tumble backwards and spitting up even more blood while (Y/N) just put on a face of disappointment.

(Y/N): I already told you: if you want to live, you'll show me that power... I'm not kidding around when I say I'll kill you if you don't start taking this seriously. Now...

He had walked over, stomping on the armour and easily cracking it with Francine gritting her teeth from the pain.

(Y/N): Show me that damn power, or die!

Francine: No! I will never show it! I won't!

(Y/N) scoffed, moving his sneaker over to her face.

(Y/N): Fine then...

To everyone's great surprise, (Y/N) stomped on her head hard enough for her head to suddenly turn to the left with a great crack resounding from her neck. (Y/N) scoffed again, removing his shoe and staring at the shaking Francine.

(Y/N): You're still alive? Well then, use your power to heal yourself... otherwise you have at least a few minutes before your brain finally catches up to what happened... and you'll die.

Francine coughed up more blood, her hands trembling as she couldn't even feel anything but the pain in her neck, she kept gasping, desperately trying to breathe once again but failing every time. Francine slowly saw her vision beginning to darken.

Francine: I... I can't... go against... Papa... He... He...

Phillip: You are to never use that power, you bad girl...

Francine went wide-eyed, rage suddenly filling her body at the memory.

Francine: He may be my father... but... he... won't ever... tell me what to do!!!

To everyone's surprise, as (Y/N) turned his back to start walking off, a huge beam of white light shot out of Francine which was as blinding as when Michael and Gabriel appeared. (Y/N) turned around slowly, hands in his jeans pockets while he watched through the light as Francine slowly rose to her feet, he couldn't help but smirk at what he was seeing.

(Y/N): Now... that's more like it.

The light disappeared, everyone murmuring and gasping in shock as they saw the armour Francine had was disintegrated, her dress underneath torn slightly while her hair was up, flowing as if a powerful wind was keeping her long blonde hair stationary, her eyes no longer gentle and green, but now filled with rage and also instead of eyeballs, she had white flames coming out her eyes, finally, two massive angel wings that were made from white flames that almost took up the entire arena.

Francine: This... is what you wanted, right?

Her voice was calmer than before, however everyone could easily detect the anger in it while (Y/N)'s smirk turned into a smile as he huffed, crouching slightly again while rearing both fists back... and then being surrounded by Evil Energy with his two Evil Energy wings popping out of his shoulder blades.

(Y/N): That's exactly what I wanted...

Their powers continued to rise, shaking the entirety of Heaven while all the rulers of each faction stood up in both shock and amazement at what they were seeing... it was a battle between a prodigy in Evil Energy and a prodigy in Holy Wrath... however, everyone knew that only one can come out of this victorious... but the real question was: would they live through this power clash?

To be continued...

(A/N): Yeah... I really should've said something before Monday, I left on Monday at 5 AM to get to the airport, so yeah, I was really tired... to top it all off, there was NO INTERNET in the house we rented, so that's a grand total of... ten days without an update... ah shit I really am becoming a lazy author, aren't I? Anyways, thank you guys and gals so much for the continued support and as always: eat one or more brownies every day!!!!
