Ch 7 Atlanta Again
"Are you fucking kidding me?!?!"Daryl yelled at his younger sister.
Wyatt decided to stay out of it, it was bad enough that he hadn't chosen to go back to camp before Daryl. Especially after Daryl and West's falling out. Now he was watching Daryl scream at their baby sister for keeping an even bigger secret. Not that he could blame her; they'd all disowned Caleb so what right did they have to see his daughter.
"That's enough of this!" Rick jumped in, pulling Adelia away from her older brother. "It wasn't anyone's fault but mine. I handcuffed him to a pipe." He told the older Dixon.
As the words left Rick's mouth, Lina, Didi and Dee both internally facepalmed, while Adelia let out a groan. They all wished Rick would've kept his mouth shut, especially when Daryl lunged for Rick with a knife in his hand. When Shane stepped in and grabbed Daryl around the neck the three of them continued to argue and fight like a bunch of high school girls. That was until that young mother stepped in and threw Dixon over her shoulder onto the ground before rounding on her brother and Shane.
"Grow up. You'r acting three little girls!! You!" Lina ground out as she pointed at Daryl, he stared up at the young female in shock. The fact that she just threw him over her shoulder had him wondering where her strength had come from. "You know how Merle is so don't go acting like this was unexpected! Attack my brother again and I'll handcuff you from one of the trees by both wrists and let you hang for the night." She threatened, her eyes quickly turning to her brother. "You suck at how you deliver bad news. Do I need to teach you again how to keep your mouth shut and from now on let me do the damned talking. "Lina half yelled.
As she was laying into Daryl and her brother, Shane thought it would be a clever idea to try and sneak off, he'd barely taken two steps before he was laying on the ground next to Daryl with Lina kneeling over him.
"As for you Shane Walsh." She whispered. A growl slipped from her lips; the older male threw his hands up in the air where he lay not wanting another round of whatever she was about to give him. "You are no longer in charge here and stay the hell away from my sister both of them. My nephew, my kids, Hell my whole fucking family . Are we clear?" Lina demanded as she whispered the last part. She had an inkling of an idea about what was going on with Shane but didn't want to tell her Dee until she found out who he was cheating on her with.
The young mother sighed as she knelt to the ground next to Daryl, her eyes softened just a little as she offered him her hand. Lina's eyes never moved off her late husband's younger twin brother. Shane quickly got up feeling the ache in his shoulders from where he had made contact with the hard ground.
"God I forgot she could do that." Shane grounded as he moved towards Rick.
"You seemed to have forgotten, All my sisters know self-defense. Dad made sure they could protect themselves." Rick laughed as he listened to his younger sister. "But you also have to remember, She and Dee are two of the best cops next to you, or did you really forget?" He whispered as he let his eyes drift over to Dahlia who was standing next to the two men he now knew as Hongjoong and Seonghwa. Didi was next to her twin rubbing her arm as if Dee needed support, it was then that it had dawned on him that they were the friends their cousin Wooyoung often talked about. Rick wanted to smack himself for being an ass on the first night at the camp. The oldest Grimes sibling thought about how to apologize to the two men he leaned into Shane.
"Before all this happened did you hear anything about Nova and Jinx's leave?" Rick questioned as his mind tried to focus on the here and now.
"Dee was on the phone with them. Three way call with Jinx and Nova, she said they'd been recalled to active duty." Shane whispered as he lied through his teeth.
The two men's conversion hadn't gone unheard, especially from Lina's four year old daughter who had snuck up behind her uncles. When the words reached the little girl's ears her eyes welled up with tears.
"Aunty Nova and Jinx are Monsters?" Kenzi wailed all of a sudden. The sound of the child's cries brought everything to a near silent stand still.
"Now listen, I know my brother and he knows me. Do you think we would leave him up there for long?" Lina offered while she watched Daryl. The cries of her child reaching her. It caused her heart to break especially since she couldn't go to her daughter at that moment.
"Oh Sweetheart, Let mommy talk to Daryl and then she will come talk to you about your aunts." Rick offered when he realized he scared his four year old niece. However, the toddler wanted nothing to do with him at that moment.
"NO!" Kenzi wailed once again as she backed away from her Uncle Rick, she wasn't afraid of him, she was just upset with what he and Shane had said.
Dahlia started towards her niece when Hongjoong stopped her. He was going to get the child; he didn't want Dahlia near Shane in her condition especially with how he was acting lately. Didi had made her way towards the small group when Seira glanced up at the other expecting mother and shook her head. Seira wanted neither of them near Shane or the madness that was going on over her. Seria moved towards Kenzi, she had been close enough to hear what was going on as she watched the interactions between the little girl and her uncle. She smiled softly as she picked up Kenzi.
"Don't worry about her right now, tell Lina I have her and we will be with your sisters." Seira remarked as she gave Rick a quick nod. There was a very subtle look she had given Rick, one that he almost missed had he not been watching her with Kenzi, it was clear Seira had something she clearly needed to tell him.
"They're going back!" Lori stated as she walked out of the RV. "Aren't you?" She asked Rick, missing the look that Seira had given her husband.
Rick glanced around at the others as Lina leaned forward and spoke with Daryl privately, he wondered what just happened, what was the look out as he watched Seira take her niece over to Dee. He didn't miss the interaction between the small group, or the way Lori or Shane stared at them with malice. Something clearly happened and he was going to get to the bottom of it when he returned.
"Now I'm going to let you go, If You bad mouth my daughter, her father or me well you will be getting personal with one of the trees." Lina stated as she let Daryl go.
The older male glanced at the young female Grimes; he only gave her a nod as he listened to what she was saying. Now he remembered why he was afraid of her, she reminded him of Adelia and their mother before the drink, before things went to hell with his father when he was a little boy. When the pair were still talking Rick started his own conversion about returning to the city. He hadn't seen Lina slip past him to check on her daughter nor the way she tensed up when Seira whispered to her.
"Yes, we're going back." Rick stated looking around at the small camp before his eyes landed on Glenn who groaned.
"Come on really? "Glenn asked.
"Lina?" Rick quipped as he turned back to Daryl only to notice his youngest sister was no longer kneeling next to Daryl. As he glanced around the camp once more his eyes settled on her small frame that now stood between Seoho and Youngjo. "You know I need you to have my back." He remarked as he took a step forward.
Lina stood with her back to her brother still, she was trying to process what she was just told. The anger she felt coursed through her veins, and she wanted nothing more than to knock Shane Walsh on his ass for it. However, now was not the time nor the place to confront him. Seira and she would talk to Rick about what happened back at home when this all started and then they would have a detailed discussion about it.
"Rick.." Lina whispered as an irritated sigh slipped from her lips. She couldn't help it as she gravitated towards Youngjo on her own. Her hand slipped into his before she jumped onto Seoho's back, her small frame even more hidden from the camp. Youngjo had moved closer, having no choice because she still held his hand. Not that he wouldn't have wanted to move closer to her. As he glanced over his shoulder he saw the anger in her eyes, Kenzi could be seen off to the side playing with Kaden and Nyx. "I don't think it's a clever idea to leave the camp unarmed. So unattained." She divulged as she peeked her head up over Seoho's shoulder.
"Aylina Rhea Grimes." Rick started to scold his youngest sister until there was a snap of a twig near them.
"Go ahead big brother tell her how she has to go, why don't you." Dahlia growled as she stood next to Seoho holding her small baby bump. Her eyes held hurt and betrayal in them when she looked at Shane.
"She isn't going, so pick your next target. We need her here. Her kids need her here." Didi threw out before turning around to leave with Dee .
"Li when you're done here come down by the tents." Didi offered.
" We'll be with Joongie and the others." Dee retorted with a gentle smile.
Seoho and Youngjo could feel the tension in the air. Something was clearly wrong as the pair glanced at each other Seoho knew one of them needed to get to the bottom of it. Seoho nodded to Youngjo stating he had his younger cousin who still clung to his back. As Youngjo glanced back at the woman he was falling in love with he caught sight of his own cousin talking to Rick. An idea formed in his head.
"I'll go with you Rick." Youngjo called out as he started to step away from Lina and Seoho, only to be pulled back by the grasp that still held him in place. He glanced down at the small hand, only to follow it up to meet the purple and blue orbs of its owner as she peeked over Seoho's shoulder. It amazed Youngjo how alike her daughter was to Lina.
"You don't have to do this Youngjo." She told him as she jumped off of Seoho's ba
"I'll be over there with Glenn. You two are good right?" Seoho asked quickly knowing he would be shooed away anyways.
The pair didn't even spare Seoho and answer as he chuckled before kissing Lina on the top of the head as he left them alone to have a talk with his boyfriend. Glenn leaned against the cube truck watching Rick talk to Shane and then Lori but what truly had his attention was his boyfriend that was heading towards him.
"I don't feel right about my cousin going into the city." Glenn told Seoho as he pulled the male into his arms. When he did he glanced back at Youngjo and Lina. "Is everything alright? She seems off since the confrontation with Daryl." He inquired.
Seoho didn't know how to truly answer that as he let Glenn pull him into his arms, a heavy sigh slipped from his lips as his eyes drifted over to the pair as well before he glanced back up at Glenn.
"I don't know but I'll find out if something was said to her. They're great, Ravn is falling for my little cousin." Seoho teased Glenn as he leaned in and placed a kiss on his cheek. "Just do me a favor, come back safe and unharmed or Lina won't be the only one on a warpath are we clear?" Seoho threatened in a teasing manner.
"Why do I feel like you mean it?" Glenn asked.
"Because I do." Seoho chuckled lightly as he stood there waiting for the others.
Lina stared up at Youngjo as she laced her fingers with his, she didn't want him going in her place. She'd much rather him stay here where it was safer. She had been out there and saw what was in the city.
"Please, You don't have to go with them. I'll go instead." She offered. she would go in his stead if it meant keeping him safe
"No, you stay here with the kids, your sister and cousin. They need you and I'll be back before you know it." Youngjo told her as he pulled her into his arms. "When I get back I like to talk to you about something important." He added as he brushed a strand of her raven hair behind her ear.
Lina nodded her head resigning herself to the fact that this man that was winning over her heart and the heart of her daughter and the little boy she had saved was going to do this whether she tried to stop him or not.
"Promise." Lina whispered almost too quietly for anyone to hear.
She stood next to Youngjo while he and Glenn made sure they had everything they needed for the trip back into Atlanta. Her eyes roamed over the camp watching every little interaction that had taken place with her sister and Hongjoong, it didn't shock her in the least how he acted towards her older twin. Nor did the interaction between Shane and her sister in law go unnoticed even if they thought they were being inconspicuous. As Daryl jumped into the back of the cube van she knew this was going to be a long trop for all of them.
"Hurry the hell up we ain't got all day!" Daryl called out as his eyes drifted to Lina who gave him a slight glare. "You coming along Princess?" He taunted as he walked over and whispered something in her ear.
It only clarified what Seira had told her, she tried to keep the anger hidden until the others were off, Lina's eyes narrowed as she watched Daryl saunter off towards the white cube van again.
"What did you call me?" Lina hissed when her head snapped towards Daryl, as she tried to keep from ripping his head off at the news that was running through her head.
"Spider Monkey is staying behind with us." Seoho retorted as he stepped up next to his cousin and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
As the youngest Grimes sister looked up at her cousin she gave him a slight nod, she knew she could trust Seoho with anything, however she did need to have a small conversation with her brother and Dixon before they left. As she slipped away from Seoho, she stopped right in front of the pair, a small smile slipped across her face.
"Let me make this clear, Youngjo and Glenn better come back unharmed." She whispered softly so her brother could hear her before her eyes drifted towards Daryl. "If a hair on their head is even out of place, I will not be the only one to come after you." She growled softly before hugging her brother. "Be safe all of you and hurry back." Lina added all mischievousness, having slipped from her voice as she turned and placed a kiss on Youngjo's cheek and hugged Glenn. "You two be safe please." She begged them.
"Don't worry, we will be." Youngjo reassured her as he held her one more time before getting into the truck.
"We'll come back unscathed." Glenn added as he glanced back at Seoho.
"Don't worry Glenn, Seoho and I'll keep each other out of trouble. Now go before it gets dark." She urged.
The simple threat had caused a cold shiver to run up Rick's spine as he climbed behind the wheel, he knew how his sisters could be. Especially when it comes to a loved one. As the back of the truck was closed and they pulled out of the mountains Glenn took a seat in the passenger's seat.
"Is she always like that?" T asked as he settled in the back across from Daryl who was trying to ignore the whole conversion to begin with. "Or was it the knock to the head from Merle?" He asked as he gave Dixon a hard stare.
"Um Not just her, all five of them are like that." Rick retorted as they pulled onto the highway.
"You have five sisters?" T asked in shock before he looked at the others then back at Rick. "Please tell me you're the oldest?" He questioned.
Glenn stayed quiet as he listened to what was being said. Seoho had told him about his cousins, though he now understood how his older sister felt being the only girl with three younger brothers. Though his mind drifted to what they were about to be do in Atlanta, as he turned to look in the back of the vehicle his eyes connected with his cousin's. Youngjo gave Glenn a quick nod to let him know he was fine and not to worry, although what Youngjo was worried about was the young woman back at the camp he could tell something was on her mind.
"My sisters are fraternal quintuplets, well almost. Didi and Dee are nearly Identical, Didi has a crescent moon shaped scar at the corner of her left eye and Dee doesn't ." Rick offered as they drove towards the city. "Dahlia is the oldest of the five and is a cop like Shane, Lina, and I. As you know She married Shane and they're expecting, Didi is married to Lee Minho, one of Seira's missing brothers and expecting as well. That which I didn't know.. Though I'd like to know what's going on with those two. Jinx and Nova are the third and fourth oldest both became marines with medical backgrounds and Nova has some biological background in science I think. Lina is the youngest..." He added as he stopped the truck. When stopped talking for a moment wondering if he should even mention Lina's past.
"And Lina?" T pushed not answering his question about what could be going on with Shane and Dahlia.
"I..I don't know if I should say anything about that." Rick replied as he glanced back at Daryl.
Daryl sighed as he leaned back his eyes closed, he knew people had heard the remarks he had made about his niece as he opened his eyes slowly he glanced at the young Asian male that seemed to make Lina and his niece happy.
"My twin became a cop, fell in love with the young woman that handed me my ass. Married her, my whole family disowned him, and he died in the line of duty. Isn't that right?" Daryl accused as he turned his head towards Rick before looking back at Youngjo. "You love her don't you?" He whispered.
Youngjo had been quiet the whole time listening to everyone talk about things, getting to know more about Rick and his sisters. More about Lina, well more than Seoho had told him, his heart ached for the woman who was waiting back at camp for him. Though he was taken by surprise when Daryl asked him if he loved her. Of course, he did, it's what he wanted to talk to her about when they got back. The van had gone completely quiet as everyone waited for him to answer.
"If you hurt them I'll kill you." Daryl hissed.
"Woah man, no killing my cousin!" Glenn half yelled.
Youngjo held out his hand to Glenn to stop him, he didn't need Glenn to step in for him, not with this. As he looked at Rick then Daryl he nodded his head. The male hadn't spoken to him, nor had he tried to get to know him or the little girl that was his niece and here he was threatening him.
"I do love her; I plan to tell her when we return. I just hope she feels the same way." He responded. "However, you have no right to threaten me, when you turned your back on that little girl and her mother. If you want to make amends with Lina it's not by threatening me." Youngjo stated as he got up from where he was sitting to open the back of the truck. "Rick I hope.." He had started to say but was cut off.
"Ravn, You make her smile. Something I haven't seen her truly do other than with Kenzi. So, when I say she feels the same, believe me. Now let's get Merle and these guns and get back to our families shall we?" He chuckled as he clapped Youngjo on the back.
"Alright let's do this." Daryl let out a huff as they stood just on the other side of the fence they had cut their way through and tied back up.
"No, We do this the smart way." Rick demanded as he glanced at the small group with him. He wanted to live when he saw his sister again. "Glenn. Merle or the guns first?" He asked the young Korean male.
Glenn looked at the four of them as he stopped walking. He knew he was going to pissed someone off, but he didn't care, it was all about safety in the city now. As he looked around he sighed.
"To hell with that Merle first!" Daryl yelled as his anger started to take over.
Glenn glanced at Youngjo as he rolled his eyes, he was starting to think that maybe they should have brought Lina with them. She seemed to be able to scare Dixon into acting like a person and not a grown man throwing a temper tantrum. While he tried to ignore the squabbling between Rick and Daryl he nodded his head to his cousin and glanced at the city once more.
"Merle first, the guns would mean backtracking." Glenn told them as Youngjo, and he started to walk away from the small group. "Maybe we should have brought Lina to play referee between the two." He joked.
"Not a snowball's chance in hell." Youngjo growled out between clenched teeth.
"Woah, It was a joke!" He defended as he held up his hands in surrender. "You've fallen hard for her." Glenn teased Youngjo. "Don't worry I know how it feels." He stated with a smile.
The remainder of the walk grew quiet as they focused on the trek through town and how to avoid any of the dead that may still be out on the street. When the department store came into view, it was odd to see only one walker in the store when just days ago there were thousands surrounding it. Daryl made quick work of it, with a side remark about it, one that Youngjo and Glenn ignored as they glanced around. T made his way up the stairs as he pulled the bolt cutters from his bag and broke the chain. It wasn't a surprise when Daryl pushed him aside to get through, though they hadn't expected to see nothing but Merle's hand laying on the rooftop.
During Daryl's hissy fit over the fact that Merle had cut off his own hand instead of waiting for them to return for him, an altercation had occurred yet again. Daryl pointed his crossbow at T, in return Rick pointed his gun and Daryl's head.
"I won't hesitate to pull the trigger." Rick warned.
Youngjo stood to the side as he glanced at the blood droplets on the ground, it was obvious someone had gone this way. He looked over at the group of men once again and shook his head.
"You know there are drops of blood leading through the door over here." Youngjo called out.
That seemed to get the others' attention as Daryl stopped to grab his brother's hand to wrap in a blue rag and placed it in Glenn's pack. The disgusted look on Glenn's face made Youngjo chuckle to himself as he slipped through the door, soon followed by the others.
"Don't laugh or I'll make you carry the bag." Glenn taunted as they moved through the building only to come to a stop.
"What is that smell?" He asked.
"Burnt flesh." Rick retorted as he shut off a burner. "He cauterized the wound." He quickly whispered.
Once again Rick and Daryl were arguing about his brother and how nothing could keep him down. T, Glenn and Youngjo watched the two until the conversion turned to talking about the guns. Glenn made a makeshift map as they planned the route to get the guns.
"So why are T and I here? While you have Daryl and Youngjo here?" Rick asked, looking at the map.
"Well, If my path gets blocked I'll come to you as for my cousin I'd like to keep him within sight even though he can take care of himself." Glenn explained as he glanced at Youngjo. "Your little sister scares me when it comes to my cousin." He laughed lightly.
"What did you two do before this?" Daryl glanced at the cousins.
"I delivered Pizzas." Glenn divulged then glanced at the map.
"And I was, I no am now part of a Kpop group named ONEUS." Youngjo added, refusing to believe the others were dead.
"Huh?" Daryl asked.
"Nothing, I'll explain later. "Youngjo stated. "Let's get going shall we."
As they took their places Glenn was ready to get the guns, while Youngjo was watching his back. Daryl had to admit he admired the two as they worked together, it was something that he and his brother definitely didn't have. All of a sudden a teenage boy rounded the alley and started screaming when he saw Glenn with the gate, as Daryl moved towards the young male he only screamed louder which took Youngjo by surprise. When he turned to help Glenn he was punched in the face; it wasn't until he and Glenn were thrown into a car that he had come around only to realize they were no longer with Rick and the others. It was too late by the time Rick and T reached the alley it was Daryl and the young boy.
"What happened! Where are Glenn and Ravn?" Rick demanded.
"This little asshole and his boys kidnapped them!" Daryl hissed as he shoved the boy against the wall and pointed the arrow in his face.
While they argued the dead tried to get through the fence, they were only fueled by the noise that was coming from the alley. Rick pushed them towards the lab they had just come from, he needed answers and the only way to get them was from the boy. He knew he couldn't return to camp without Glenn or Youngjo, his sister and his cousin would have his hide. Once they were in the lab Daryl practically threw the kid into the chair.
"Daryl calm down." Rick told him as he watched the male pace back and forth.
"Calm down? This little bastard's friends took Glenn and Ravn, and you want me to calm down?" Daryl countered.
"You know if we don't get them back, Lina and Seoho are going to kill us all." T panicked
"You're afraid of her aren't you?" Rick asked Daryl, not that he could blame him, she had thrown him to the ground.
"I ain't afraid of her." Daryl growled as he glanced at Rick while he searched through his bag before his eyes fell on the boy they had brought back with them.
"You let a woman scare you?" The kid taunted Daryl and T.
"You are too, and Kid if you met her demon side " Rick paused as he thought about the words that were about to leave his lips. Then he looked at T and Daryl. "Don't ever tell her I called her a demon.." He pleaded as his eyes drifted back to the boy. "You'd probably piss yourself, go ahead Daryl." He finished as he walked over towards T and waited.
Daryl didn't need to go ahead; he already had what he needed in his hands, though he was definitely interested in the fact that Rick had just begged him not to tell his little sister he had called her a demon. He shook his head and turned towards the boy once more, a sadistic smile crossed his lips.
"You see this?" He taunted as he threw Merle's severed hand into the boy's lap. "This is what she did to the last person who pissed her off." Daryl hissed as he leaned forward. "Now where are our men?" He threatened.
