Ch 4 Family & Friends
Rick was still trying to figure out what was going on with his sister and how she knew Merle, as he and Glenn fought their way towards the parking lot where the trucks were located they too had heard the rumble of thunder. Glenn stopped momentarily as he felt the rain start to fall, Rick glanced back at him and slowed his pace for just a moment.
"Keep moving, don't stop." Rick mumbled just loud enough for Glenn to hear him as the dead slowly moved past them.
Glenn nodded keeping up with the older male as the rain slowly started to fall on them, it was then that he noticed that the small cloud burst had begun to wash the blood and guts from the walker they had killed earlier off of them.
"This isn't good, they're..."Glenn had started to speak as a walker lunged for him.
Rick used the ax to take the Zombie that had tried to take a bite out of his new found friend, while the others had started to move towards them at a slow pace. Rick grabbed Glenn and pushed the younger male forward.
"Run, don't stop until you're over the fence." Rick yelled as he rushed behind the young Korean man.
All Rick could think about was getting his sister to her little girl and finding the rest of their family, while Glenn was hoping that his cousin and their friends were safe back at camp. The younger male prayed they hadn't come into Atlanta to help them. As the pair reached the fence it only took them a slip second to decide that it was either be killed by the living dead or up and over the fence. The choice was easy to say the least as the pair clamored their way over the fence and headed towards the large white box van. Once inside Rick started looking for as Glenn began to panic when he caught sight of the dead pushing against the fence. The weight of the dead pushing on the chain link fence caused it to cave, as Rick finally got the truck started as Glenn began to freak out. As this was happening those watching from the roof believed that they were being left behind, however little did they know that Rick would never leave his sister behind.
"Oh My God. Oh My God. They're all over the place." Glenn called out in a panic as they drove away from the lot.
"We need to draw them away, those roll up doors at the front of the store." Rick stated as he still had no idea of what had happened to his sister. "That area, that's what I need clear." He added as they continued to drive down the streets of Atlanta. Before Rick spoke once again. "Raise your friends, tell them to get down there and be ready. Tell them to tell Lina I'm not leaving so no threatening to kick my sorry ass." he added as he glanced at Glenn.
The young male was confused on the last part for a moment when he realized it looked like they were leaving their friends behind. He had to admit that in only the few short hours of knowing the young woman she had both frightened and amazed him. Lina's sweet side he had seen with the young boy and with Jackie, T and himself reminded him of his boyfriend in a way. With a panicked nod Glenn asked the question he felt he needed to know the answer to.
"And I'm driving the geeks away how?" Glenn asked, panic laced his voice, he wanted to save his friends and the young boy. But he wanted to see his boyfriend again as well. "I..I missed that part!" He half yelled.
"Noise." Rick stated quite bluntly before pulling over after getting a good distance from the dead.
As Glenn glanced around the area Rick busted out a window to a red dodge challenger, it's then that Rick started the car and shoved the younger male into the front seat. As Glenn looked at the car he couldn't help but grin before he sped away.
"God, Li is going to kill me if that boy gets hurt." Rick groaned as he climbed back into the driver's seat of the truck and waited to see if their distraction would work.
As Glenn was speeding down the streets of Atlanta with the car alarm blaring he remembered what his other job was. He glanced out the window at the department store as he was nearing it and picked up the walkie talkie.
"Those roll-up doors at the front of the store, facing the street." He radioed to the others as he took a sharp turn. "Meet us there and be ready, Oh and Lina Rick said No threatening to kick his sorry ass." Glenn called through the radio.
Rick watched as Glenn soon passed him as he waited for the dead to follow Glenn, the others had heard the radio from Glenn and hurriedly packed their things. As everyone rushed out the door. T was left up top with Merle; he had the key and thought that after his actions towards the young woman Merle deserved what he got. As he had started to leave the older male on the roof he had a change of heart but tripped as he did so he dropped the key down a pipe. He didn't know what to do so he rushed from the roof leaving Merle chained to the pipe but stopped to chain the door.
As everyone waited at the roll up doors, Kaden stood next to Lina his small frame hovered over hers, while the others were ready to pull the door open when given the order. They were still unsure of how her brother would act, though no one seemed to notice that Merle wasn't with them. As they waited Glenn seemed to be having a little bit of trouble getting the dead to follow him, however once he was able to get them to follow the path he wanted he seemed to have a lot more fun with his new toy then he probably should have been. When Rick pulled up to the doors he banged on the door, the first thing he noticed was his sister passed out on the ground with the toddler standing over her protectively.
"God Damn it!" Rick growled out as the others started tossing their stuff into the truck. "What the actual fuck happened to my sister in the short time Glenn and I were gone!" He hissed as he was about to jump from the truck.
However Morales had beaten him to Lina and was handing her to Jackie and Andrea who were already in the back of the truck, as T climbed into the truck with a screaming Kaden in his arms. He had no other choice, the child had refused to leave Lina's side, so T had resorted to the only thing he could think of forcefully moving the child. Not liking the state his sister was in, Rick left it alone for the time being especially when he was told that the dead were inside already. He quickly moved to the driver's seat ready to pull away once everyone was in, though his eyes drifted back to Lina and Kaden who was still screaming and struggling to get out of T's arms. Once He was sure everyone was in, Rick pulled away as Morales pulled the door to the back of the truck down making sure it was completely secure.
"Now does someone want to tell me what the hell happened to my sister?" Rick asked as he tried to stay calm, though one could tell that the anger was starting to return to his voice.
"Um...Merle happened." T started to say as he let go of Kaden who rushed over to Lina. "And I dropped the damn key!" He replied, upset with himself.
"Where's Glenn?" Andrea asked.
"What key and why are we moving?" A soft feminine voice asked with a groan as she kept her eyes closed.
"LINA!" Everyone yelled at once, almost causing Rick to slam on the brakes and Kaden to fall on top of the young woman.
As she wrapped her arms around the child to keep him from getting hurt. As her eyes shot open at the sound of her voice being yelled like that from everyone, she groaned once again this time from the light hitting them. The young raven haired female felt like she had just gone three rounds with Mike Tyson and then got run over by a semi.
"Stop yelling, what happened? And why do I feel like I've missed something important?" Lina quipped as Jackie moved to help her sit up.
"Oh sweetie you've been out for a little over an hour." Jackie told her when she looked at the bruise forming on the side of her face.
Kaden sat next to Lina, he was quiet while he listened to the adults speak. His eyes drifted closed as he leaned against her. Rick glanced at the small group through the rearview mirror, his eyes landed on his sister who was extremely quiet. The others chatted amongst themselves but he knew her and didn't like where her mind was already going, a heavy sigh left his lips as he thought about what she would do.
"Don't dwell on it, no one is going to miss him." Morales offered then paused. "Except maybe Daryl, and his siblings." He mumbled.
"Daryl? Siblings?" Rick questioned as he watched Lina's head snap up at the mention of Daryl's name.
"Yeah West, Daryl, Wyatt and Adelia, They're Merle's siblings." Morales retorted as Glenn drove by hollering. "At least somebody's having a good day." He quipped with a chuckle.
However Lina knew the Dixons, she had a secret that not even her brother knew, her late husband, Kenzi's father was born a Dixon. Caleb Dixon to be exact, when the middle Dixon had told his older brothers that he had joined the police academy they had disowned him. It was then that Caleb had legally changed his name to Matthews. He had passed the academy only to be placed in Macon County with Rick and his siblings where he soon fell in love with the youngest quintuplets sister. However four years ago after finding out that Lina was pregnant Caleb was killed on duty and Lina changed her name back to Grimes, as well as giving Kenzi her maiden last name. As these thoughts ran through her mind she knew she was going to have to talk to her brother about her little Dixon secret and then they were going to have to go back for Merle.
Back at the Atlanta Camp:
A young four year old girl with raven hair and heterochromatic eyes just like mother was hanging off of her older cousin, none of the Dixon's aside from Adelia had realized who the child really was.
"Alright Squirt up you go!" Seoho laughed as she hung on his arm and swung back and forth.
For him, she was the only link to his youngest cousin, though he loved them all. He adored Lina as if she was his little sister, the two had always been the closest. So when he heard she had been injured in the line of duty, he knew that he would be staying longer than he had planned. However he hadn't expected his group mates to stay with him as well.
"Zi are you harassing Seoho again?" A male voice asked as he came around the corner.
The little girl dropped to the ground when she heard his voice, her eyes widened and she rushed into his waiting arms.
"JO!" Kenzi squealed when she heard Youngjo call out to her.
"Ah so Ravn is your favorite now?" Seoho asked with a slight pout as he glanced at them.
"Mmmm No?" Kenzi asked as she glanced between the two young men.
"I wish we could have helped more." Another male voice stated as he appeared, it was Xion who had just returned from helping Dahlia, before watching Didi talk with her nephew. As his eyes drifted between the woman he shook his head.
"Thank you all for helping with Squirt, Dee and Didi, I just don't understand why Dee's husband is ignoring her all of a sudden especially in her condition." Seoho stated before his eyes drifted over to Shane and Lori. " and Didi, she's having a hard time missing her husband. So thank you." He offered with a sigh. " I know you wanted to go with your cousin Ravn and I know he told you to stay here and protect me if anything happened. But I can take care of myself, you know that." He quipped with a slight chuckle when he saw two of their friends they had run into approach Dahlia and comfort her. While Didi moved towards a tent she shared with Xion. The youngest of ONEUS had taken to looking after the young mother to be, he looked after Didi like she was his older sister.
Hongjoong and Seonghwa had been watching the small camp for a while, especially the actions of others. What had drawn their attention however was the young pregnant woman named Dahlia. They soon learned that she was one of Seoho's cousin and that two of her siblings had supposedly died before the outbreak had happened. As for her two of her other sisters, they had lost communications with them shortly after all this had started, and Didi, her twin was her in camp, they knew Didi and were surprised to see her with Dahlia and the small child at first. Both men understood how the sisters felt they had gotten separated from several members of their group and had no way of knowing if they were dead or alive. As they slowly got to know the young soon to be mother, the pair decided no matter what they would not be leaving her alone in this world. Adelia watched the two small groups, the one that was playing with her niece and the other that was talking to one of the Grimes Sisters that she knew were quintuplets. She just didn't have the heart to tell the young pregnant woman that her husband was stepping out on her with her sister in law. As her eyes moved around the camp they landed on Lori and Shane who were talking about eating frog legs as Lori cut Carl's hair.
"Watching my family?" Didi whispered as she came up behind Adalia who just happened to be near her and Xion's tent.
"Hmm, just taking in the view, you I must say are as sneaky as they come. Almost as good as a hunter. Where'd ya learn that?" Adelia asked.
"Trust me, when you live with eight men, married to one and the world are their fans, have friends that are in the industry and cousins as well. You learn to be fast, quiet and sneaky." Didi retorted. "You know he is probably dead and if not he is one of the dead." She replied.
"So is that how the little bun was made?" Adelia taunted as she tried to look mean.
"You know you try to act like your brothers but you are nothing like them. You're better than them, the three of you are." Didi whispered as Xion came towards her.
"Come on, let's go back to the others you don't need to hear what she has to say to you." Xion reassured Didi. "Don't listen to her its not good for either of you, come on, Kenzi and Seoho will be worried." He told Didi.
Once Didi was gone from her sight, Adelia focused back on the scene of the happy little family that Shane was trying to portray. It pissed Adelia off, she wished that Kenzi's mother was here. That was until the sound of a car alarm blaring all over the mountains had caught everyone's attention. Kenzi clung to Youngjo's neck as the others had started to gather around Shane, Hongjoong and Seonghwa had helped Dahlia to her feet but kept her a good distance away just in case. Mixed in with the family was a group of siblings Adelia had seen often with Lina, Adelia had taught them how to make some weapons to keep them safe. Though none of them realized that things at the camp were about to change.
"What is it Dale?" Shane called out.
"It's hard to tell," Dale offered.
"Is it them? Are they back?" A blonde girl that Seoho had learned was Amy.
"I'll be damned!" Dale mumbled to himself.
"What is it?" Amy asked, worried, filling her voice.
"A stolen car is my guess!" Dale replied, slightly annoyed by the question.
As the small group began to move towards the RV, the older Didi and Dahlia instinctively moved towards their family and friends. Well, all but Shane, who seemed to be always busy whenever Dee needed him. So Didi made sure her older twin was with them or stuck with her cousin and friends. Didi was starting to think that her sister's husband was cheating on her by the way he acted towards Dee, then again she also had no proof and chalked it up to both of their pregnancy hormones. So she kept her thoughts to herself, had Didi talked to her sister in law Seira, or the other Lee sisters or she may have found out that she wasn't the only one who thought that Shane was cheating but with who they thought he was cheating on her older twin with.
