Lina sat in the squad car; her head lent against the glass as she watched Rick walk down the hill with the empty gas can in his hand. She had offered to go with him, but he had refused, telling her to wait in the car until he came back. It was too quiet for the younger Grimes; she just could not let her older brother go alone, not after everything they had learned about the world now. The small raven haired female followed her brother down the hill and what she saw before them made her blood run cold. A young blonde girl no more than seven or eight years old dressed in a pink robe holding a white teddy bear and bunny slippers stalked towards them. Her eyes held the grey film that appeared when they reanimated, and part of her mouth had been torn off. As Lina glanced at Rick, she saw his hand tremble and his gun raised and she understood why it could be his son or her daughter. Before Rick could pull the trigger, Lina had done so the bullet connected with the child's head as tears streamed down Lina's cheeks.

"Lina?" Rick choked out as he heard the gun go off just a few meters behind him." I told you to stay in the car, you shouldn't have..." He started to say but was cut off.

"You can't protect me from everything Rick. Come on, let's find some gas and get going. We need to find our family. I need to find Kenzi." She told him honestly as she tried not to let fear take over.

They did just that, Rick made sure Lina stayed in his sight while they looked around. She found just enough to get the car going again. With what they had found it was going to be barely enough. While Rick drove, Lina let her mind wander back to before all this happened before their accident.

Two months before the outbreak:

Rick and Shane sat in the front of a squad car eating lunch and telling a joke as Lina returned to the car with her lunch and climbed into the back. She ignored the two of them, her partner was on desk duty because she was four months into her pregnancy and did not want to change anything happening. Lina's partner happened to be one of her twin sisters, and the wife of her brother's best friend Shane. She had just talked to Lori asking if she could have Kenzi ready by six, because her friend was taking her for the night since she was working a double shift. Lina cleared her throat when Shane started talking about women and light switches which caused her brother to investigate the rear mirror and chuckle at her, before she messaged their little sister Nova. Lina wanted to know when Jinx and her leave was due, if they would be home in time to meet up with their cousins and their eldest twin, who were visiting from South Korea.

When the two started talking about Lori and her brother's marital issues Lina acted like she wasn't listening. That was their problem and Rick knew that if he needed to talk to her she was there. While they were talking dispatch cut in causing Shane to reach back and take Lina's food then his and Rick before tossing it into the trash bin.

"Hey I was still drinking my shake!" Lina growled at her brother in law.

"Oh zip it, I'll get you another one Shortie." Shane teased as he tossed her a look.

"Don't!" Rick hissed under his breath, he knew his youngest twin hated being called short and Shane loved to tease her about it.

As they joined the pursuit, the atmosphere in the car was tense, Lina had already checked her gun as both men remaind quiet, Shane knew he should have kept his mouth shut. Nonetheless the male just couldn't help himself. As nother car soon joined theirs as the woman came over the radio talking about the suspects, she informed them that there were two male Caucasian suspects that were armed and had fired on police injuring one police officer. Lina shook her head when Shane glanced back at her and gave her a slight smile. He knew that she hated this part of the job because of what had happened to her late husband, but she would never admit it to anyone. As the car came to a stop Rick, Shane and Lina all jumped out of the car. While Shane managed the road spikes, Lina took her place behind the hood of the car as she ignored Leon and Shane. Everyone held their breath as the car sped forward and flipped. Rick took a few steps forward, his sister close behind him and Shane behind her. The other officers were not far behind. It only took a few seconds for the events to unfold into utter chaos. The suspects exited the car and began firing, catching Rick in the vest at first but Lina was not so lucky the bullets hit her thigh, face, and arm. As Rick and Shane turned to Lina as she cried out from the pain. Shane glanced up into time to see Rick get shot once again in the side while he had tried to get to his sister.

"LINA! RICK!" Shane called out in a panic as he rushed to the Grimes siblings, he did not know which one to help as he watched Rick reach a handout towards Lina who was unconscious. It did not take long before the paramedics arrived.

After Shane watched the ambulance pull away, he felt another wave of panic hit him as he realized he was going to have to tell not only Lori but his wife that her siblings had been shot, he had three other Grimes women to inform. He just hoped that it would not affect his wife's pregnancy, after all they had been trying for a while. When Shane pulled into the elementary school, his eyes focused on a small group of mothers. He stepped from the squad car, both Lori and the eldest Lee sister turned towards him. He was glad that Seira was holding Kenzi in that moment; for fear that when he told Lori the news that she would collapse, as his eyes shifted to the ground both women could tell something was wrong. This was one of the things he hated about the job, delivering the news that an officer had been shot in the line of duty, now here he was telling the wife of his best friend not only her husband had been injured but so had his sister. The hardest part was still yet to come for Shane, he still had to tell his pregnant wife and their other three sisters, one who was still on a flight somewhere over the ocean.

Seira held Kenzi close to her as she listened to Shane tell Lori about what had happened to the Grimes siblings. The young woman's eyes drifted to the sleeping toddler in her arms as her eyes welled up with tears. It had been a chance meeting between Seira and Lina and before she knew it her sisters and she had moved from Australia to the United states. The two women discovered during that chance meeting that they both had a relative within an up and coming Kpop group. When Kenzi shifted in Seira's arms, it brought the young woman out of her momentary thought of what the world would be like without the youngest Grimes sister that her family had grown attached to, hell to any of them they had become like family to her sisters and Seira. As the young woman's light lavender eyes landed on the officer she gave him a gentle nod. She couldn't imagine the pain they were feeling, let alone how to explain it to a child, as Carl rushed from the school to his mother Seira's heart broke once again while she watched his mother explain what happened to his father and aunt.

"Why don't you two go ahead and I'll bring the two kids up here shortly." Seira offered, knowing that there were going to be things said that neither Carl nor Kenzi needed to hear.

"Thank you Seira." Lori whispered through the tears as she held her son close before pushing him towards the woman. When the brown-haired female turned towards Shane she shook her head. "You haven't told Dahlia yet have you?" Lori asked as a whimper left her lips.

Shane hung his head; he hadn't told anyone but Lori. Seira had only overheard it by accident, the male hadn't even thought to think that she would have heard it go out over the radio. Seira's head snapped up as she realized what was taking place.

"If you didn't tell her and she heard it.." She spoke up as she now held Carl to her side.

"She's probably already at the hospital, you haven't picked up your phone." Lori sniffled through the tears.

"Go, I'll call Nova and Jinx. ." Seira reassured as she led the children to her car, she stopped for a moment as she glanced back at the pair. "I'll see if there is a way to get a message to Didi." She added as she turned back to her original destination. Kenzi was still snuggled into her shoulder as Carl cried into her side. It hadn't taken long for her to get the toddler settled into the car seat. Though she was worried about Carl, he tried to act brave and not show his tears in front of her. "You know you don't have to do that sweetie; I understand. I'm here alright." She told him as she turned to the front and let him be. It seemed to be exactly what the young boy needed as he broke down in tears once again, this time there was no stopping the tears that seemed to flow freely. Moments went by before Seira found the number for where both Nova and Jinx Grimes were stationed. It wasn't long before she had received a return call from both sisters, it was one of the hardest things she had ever had to do. Explaining to your closest friends that their baby sister and their older brother were injured in the line of duty over the phone. However she was unable to get a hold of Didi, they were still on the plane, she knew she needed to get a message to her somehow. As she glanced at the airport they were supposed to land at and called to leave a message at the desk.

"Yes please, it's very important she calls me back right away." Seira spoke gently as if she was trying not to wake the toddler. As soon as she was done she glanced into the rear view mirror to check on Carl. She noticed that Carl had composed himself. "Alright, are we ready now?" She asked in a gentle tone.

"We are." Carl whispered as he wiped the fresh tears from his dirty tear stained face.

"Ready for what?" Kenzi's tiny voice questioned, still filled with sleep.

"Nothing, Just go back to sleep Zi." Carl told his baby cousin as he held her hand and nodded to Seira.

Seira nodded to the young boy; a sad smile graced her lips as she realized what Carl was doing. He was trying to protect his cousin from the truth for what was to come. The drive to the hospital wasn't that long, in fact it was too short. Clearly The Eldest of the Lee sisters had been right about Dahlia, when her husband hadn't picked up his phone, nor her siblings she had rushed to the hospital fearing the worst. Shane stood there arguing with his wife as she tried to figure out why it had taken him so long to tell her, why she had to find out from the doctors that it was her siblings. The young soon to be mother was in tears as she threw her hands up in the air she fought with her husband.

"Did you know I thought the same thing happened to you that happened to Caleb! "Dee yelled at her husband. As she tried to move around him Shane grabbed Dee gently and pulled her into his arms.

However, his eyes landed on Lori who was sitting in a chair near the door in the waiting room, Lori's eyes glanced up to meet him at the same time. Something unsaid passed between them as Shane rubbed his pregnant wife's back. It was at that time Seira had stepped into the waiting room, she had caught the look between the pair, clearly there was more going on here than being his best friend's wife. With no proof there wasn't much anyone could do.

"I called Nova and Jinx; they're going to see if they can get an earlier leave." Seira called out as she cleared her throat. "I could't get a hold of Didi, though I left a message with the front desk of the airport." She stated.The young woman placed Kenzi on her feet as her cousin took the toddler's hand. "Dee, I'm sorry my sisters and I are here if you need anything. For all of you. The boys should be landing here in the States for a concert, Didi is coming with them, I'm going to pick her up as soon as they land." Seira added as she took a seat next to Lori. "I also called Wooyoung and Seoho, they're here in the states as well it seems. My sister and I have decided to help out by keeping the kids for a few nights alright?" She consoled as she watched Shane walk Dahlia towards them and sit between her and Lori.

"Has there been any news?" A female voice spoke up a few moments later. It was Nyx, one of Seira's younger sisters. She stood there with food for everyone, a change of clothes for Shane from the station and a bag to pick up Kenzi.

"No nothing. It's the waiting that's driving me insane!" Lori cried out as if she were the only one dealing with this.

"Hey, you need to be strong, Rick and Lina will get through this, you aren't alone in this Lori." Shane soothed as thought about his words. "Look, they're tougher than we give them credit for." He tried to restate what had just left his mouth. "You, their sisters, and the kids aren't alone. Remember that. Hell according to Seira, you and they have what seems like a whole damned army backing you all." Shane chuckled trying to lighten the mood.

Sadly, the lighthearted mood Shane tried to create grew dark as the doctors stepped from the operating rooms. The saddened look in both of their eyes spoke volumes. The families had been told that the Grimes siblings had been placed into a medically induced coma to help their bodies heal. They doctors were unable to tell them just how long it would take and to try to be patient, patience was not something the world seemed to have time for. While the siblings slept, their bodies healing themselves, the world had changed and not for the better. When the young woman woke up it was not any of her sister's voices, nor that of her best friend, or even her cousins, but was her brother's voice that had broken through the haze of the medication. The fog was still there as her eyes fluttered open slowly.

True to her word Seira had gone to the airport to pick up Didi, after explaining to the men that were with her what had happened. Hyunjin, the Grimes cousin wanted to go with his older cousin, Minho, Didi nearly demanded that he escort his wife. Nonetheless they had to meet up with their manager at the venue they were supposed to be performing in.

"It's okay, both of you, I have her." Seira told Hyunjin and Minho.

Didi held on to her husband as she glanced at her friend, she couldn't believe what she was hearing, her brother and youngest twin had been shot. As she kissed Minho on the cheek she held back the tears.

"I'm okay, we're okay. I'll call you as soon as we get there okay. Keep an eye on my cousin will you. Please love?" Didi nearly pleaded.

Minho nodded as he held Didi a moment longer, his eyes drifted towards Hyunjin, he could see the pain in the younger male's eyes. He knew he wanted to go with his cousin just as much as Minho wanted to got with his wife.

"I will, you have my word on that baby, just don't over do it.' Minho ordered in a light tone.

"We'll talk to the manager and then meet up with you." Bangchan told Seira. "This is more important and our fans will understand." He told her as he placed a gentle yet reassuring hand on Didi's shoulder. "We will join you as soon as we can, we won't keep either of them from you for too long ."Chan offered softly.

However no one knew how things were going to go, or just how bad the world would change within just a few days of the accident. Each of the members had gotten separated from each other, while trying to get to their family and friends.

"Aylina, can you hear me? I need you to wake up, I can't leave you here, not with what I now know." Rick told her when he had found her in his home after Morgan had told him everything.

When she glanced around the room, she was in her brother's bedroom, the windows had been boarded, there was barely any light that seemed to filter into the room except from the bedroom door. As she sat there she felt the soft cotton fabric of the comforter that was wrapped around her, while her eyes adjusted to the light, she listened to Rick talk to her as well as the strange voice of the man that was speaking to her brother, she could see the dust that covered everything. However, she had no memory of how she had gotten in her brother's room. Once again Lina's eyes drifted closed, and her head lulled to the side. Her mind was still in a slightly medicated haze.

"Rick, what the hell happened?" She whispered as she felt someone pick her up.

When she opened her eyes again, she had refused to speak this time, she just listened to everything that she was being told. She had not even called her brother a liar not after seeing Leon outside the station. Rick had told her about the hospital as they drove out of the town. This place was once their home, they only stopped one time. It was for Rick to kill one of the dead. Lina ignored what was happening, it seemed to be a personal matter. After a few moments, the car was headed out of town to Atlanta. The ride to Atlanta was quiet as both siblings worried about their family and their friends, Rick eventually broke the silence as he placed a hand on his sisters' arm.

"We'll find them Li Li and They'll be fine, and I promise you that I'll make sure you get to Kenzi no matter what." He told her.

Lina nodded her head and gave him a small smile as she turned her head to look back out the window.

"I know Rick, I just hope they're all together and that they're okay." Lina said her voice barely above a whisper.

Atlanta Camp:

Seira and most of her family had made it to the Atlanta camp when the world had plunged into chaos. In fact they had been with Dahlia and Didi when they had gotten the call from Shane that he had fled their town with Lori and Carl saying he had accidentally forgotten about Dahlia, Didi and Kenzi. The Lee sisters couldn't believe what they were actually hearing; during the conversation she and three of sisters had been separated from Tessa, their youngest sister and they still couldn't get a hold of Minho, Felix and Jeongin. Last they had heard Jinx had been trying to get to one of their other cousins and would get the Lee brothers in the process, that was before the cell towers had gone down. When she moved towards Seoho and the small family she smiled gently watching them interact with Kenzi. She still hadn't told anyone that Shane had left his pregnant wife, Didi her incidental sister who was also four months pregnant and his 4 year old niece behind, nor had Seira confronted Shane about the incident, She wanted to keep from putting as much stress as possible on the expecting mothers as possible.

Seira had gotten to know the Grimes family's cousin Seoho in the process of arriving at the camp, when he stepped out of a vehicle at the Atlanta camp it had surprised him to see the sisters and Kenzi with the Seira and not Shane, Lori and Carl. When Seoho asked why they hadn't been with Shane, Dee simply shrugged it off, after that moment Seira and her sisters became a part of Seoho's little group that watched over Kenzi, Carl, Didi and Dahlia. Kyire and Nyx sat off to the side working on a side project with some weapons that their older sister had set them up with, it was something Adelia had taught the sisters. That was months ago though Seira and her sisters stayed close to what was left of the Grimes family and their cousins; it was enough for them to be able to watch Kenzi and Carl grow especially since they all thought that Rick and Lina were truly dead.
