Chapter 14
This is a longer chapter so be prepared! Enjoy 😉
Catra flipped through her English textbook tiredly. Her parents told her to focus on English in the meantime even though that's her least favorite. She tapped her foot against the ground anxiously. She felt the butler's eyes on her from behind.
For some random reason, her parents told the butler to watch her while she worked. She didn't know but it was because Bea caught Catra on her phone once.
Catra is on the verge of falling asleep at the moment. I just need some miracle to happen.
"Your time is up, attend your family for dinner downstairs." The butler said bowing towards her. Huh. That was perfect timing. Catra thought closing the book. She took her phone out and stared at her photos. She had taken tons of photos with Adora the previous days.
Catra sighed and smiled. Something that shocked her was the jumpy feeling. It was there but very small. She dropped her phone and hugged herself. Why is it there? When did it get there? How did it get there? She had so many questions but pushed them down as she grabbed a suit from her closet.
She rushed downstairs and sat down. It was silent, like usual but it was a weird silence. She couldn't describe it but it was just... different. She tried not to gag or make a face of disgust while she ate. Every time Catra would come over to Adora's house she would make Catra sandwiches, pancakes, and other foods she's never had.
She preferred that over this. When everyone finished eating, Catra stood and left. She showered and changed into her normal nightwear before getting in bed. Suddenly the door opened and Anderson approached her. He stood next to her bed before grinning.
"Have a good rest... Catra." Anderson said before leaving her bedroom. Catra was frozen. What was that about? She brushed it off when the door shut. She spent an hour staring at pictures of her and Adora. The jumpy feeling came back but she didn't mind.
For some reason it made her feel better. After an hour spent staring at muscles passed she sat up and grabbed her phone before slipping out of bed. She did her usual and arrived outside Adora's house. She knocked on the door and Adora opened it.
"Hey, um you won't be mad right?" Adora asked nervously. Catra tilted her head before she crossed her arms.
"Mad about what?" She asked leaning forward.
"You didn't see my text?" Adora asked glancing behind her. Catra straightened her posture before taking her phone out. Before she could read the text a familiar voice made her freeze.
"Adora who's at the door?" Glimmer shouted from the kitchen. Catra locked eyes with Adora who had a sorry look on her face.
"Why is she here?"
"She um... well she came back and wanted to give you the money they stole," Adora said as Glimmer turned her head. She walked into view and locked eyes with Catra.
"Hey," She waved slightly. Catra stepped back before going back to staring at the ground. Adora looked over at a Glimmer before turning her head at Catra.
"Sorry, but there is someone new I want you to meet." Adora proposed motioning for Catra to come inside. Glimmer sighed before reaching in her pocket and holding out money.
"Here's everything we took. I'm sorry for the trouble," She said holding her hand out. Catra hesitantly took the money back and put it in her wallet.
"Thanks," She muttered quietly. Glimmer nodded and the area fell silent. Adora glanced at both girls before moving back inside. Glimmer knew what that meant and was thankful for the time alone.
"Catra I'm really sorry for everything. I never meant to make this such a mess. To be honest I never thought it would go that far. And now it did... I'm sorry. For everything that happened, I understand if you never want to see me again. I deserve it," Glimmer said looking down at her feet. Catra lifted her head and her brows relaxed.
"I accept your apology," Catra said causing Glimmer to lift her head.
"Really!? Thank you so much! I swear it won't happen again!" Glimmer said and Catra nodded. She thought for a second before taking in a deep breath and wrapping her arms around Glimmer. A hug.
"This is new, thanks." Glimmer said hugging her back. Catra smiled. I did it right! She pulled away and the two walked inside. When Catra reached the living room she saw someone sitting on the couch. They had a great taste in fashion was all she could get from whatever they was wearing.
"Meet DT!" Adora said doing jazz hands.
"How old?" She asked as they stood up.
"Older than you." Glimmer snickered from the couch.
"Ok nice to meet you, sir." The room went silent. Adora and Glimmer looked eyes nervously before Adora facepalmed. She forgot to tell Catra about non-binary people and their pronouns. She's so dead. Adora thought as DT glared into Catra's soul.
"Uh, what's going on?"
"I am non-binary. Respect the pronouns. Ugh, I do not need to be on the run again." DT said striking a dramatic pose. Catra stepped back with her hands up and simply nodded. What is non-binary?! Adora chuckled nervously before dragging Catra upstairs. She explained everything to her quickly. She didn't want Catra to mess up again and possibly die.
And no that's not a joke. DT has killed someone before because said person hadn't respected their pronouns. When Catra came back downstairs she apologized to DT about a hundred times before finally getting forgiveness.
"So, you do this often?" DT asked pausing whatever show was on and facing Catra.
"Do what?" She asked looking around. Anywhere but them. She thought tapping her hands against her legs.
"Sneak out?" They asked checking their nails.
"Yeah, I hate my life at home but when I'm here I feel free. I started this about two or three months ago and they haven't caught me so I keep doing it. I normally like to leave beforr five so I can get early enough for them to be asleep.. I don't know what would happen if I get caught though. Despite being scared I still take that chance. To be honest I would do anything to see Adora."
"You are so in love Kitten, I can practically hear you swooning when you mentioned her name," DT said with a chuckle. Catra glanced back at them as her eyes widened. Me? In love? Wait that's what it's called, love. So do I feel that for Adora? Maybe I should tell her, she would help.
"Thanks, DT," Catra said standing up and going over to Adora and Glimmer. DT stuck their hands in their pocket and grinned.
"End scene,"
"Hey Adora, can we talk?" Catra asked and she nodded. Glimmer waved before going upstairs and into Adora's bedroom. Catra sighed before locking eyes with Adora. Her confidence was obliterated. Her heart started beating faster and she had started to sweat.
"Catra? You ok?" No. No, I'm not, I feel like a statue that can't talk- wait that's what a statue is. Catra looked down as her face became bright red. Well, this is new. I like it but hate it at the same time.
"Catra~? Hello~" Adora asked waving her hand in front of Catra who had zoned out a moment ago.
"Huh oh right! My apologies," Catra said looking back up. Just tell her, why is this so hard? Ugh.
"A-Adora I um... well this um that feeling you had uh talked about y-yesterday." Catra stuttered rubbing her arm. She didn't feel like herself at all. If she was home she would've gotten slapped for stuttering so much.
"Love?" Adora asked crossing her arms. She had a slight idea of where this was going but didn't push her hopes up.
"Mhm, yeah that. I uh, how do you know if that's what you feel for someone?" Catra asked as her face became dark red. Adora's eyes widened. This was the first time she's ever seen Catra blush that hard and she was happy she was Catra's first.
"Well you start second-guessing everything you do, you start getting sweaty palms, you blush and look like a tomato and you pretty much want to melt into a puddle."
"I-I mean, well, I feel like that right now. And I've only felt like that around you so I uh... I think I love you." Catra confessed playing with her fingers. This is so unlike me, why does she have this effect on me? Adora froze for a second before a smile formed on her face.
"Is that bad?" Catra asked making Adora's smile fall. She immediately shook her head as she squeezed Catra's shoulder.
"Of course not! Love is a great thing!" Adora said moving her hands.
"I've been waiting for this moment!" Adora said excitedly. Catra lifted her head confusingly.
"I love you too Catra! I didn't think you felt the same way though." Adora said rubbing her neck. Catra smiled and hugged Adora. She was getting better at that.
"I actually have something for you!" Adora said pulling away and running upstairs. Catra watched her go up the stairs and blushed. At least I told her. Catra thought before smiling. She turned her head and saw Adora coming downstairs with something behind her back.
"Adora? What's-"
"Guess who figured their sexuality?" Adora asked in a teasing tone. Catra pointed to Glimmer and Adora frowned. Adora gave her a, it's you, look causing Catra to smile.
"Really? Finally! I guess it did take patience and time." Catra said cheerfully. Adora handed Catra the lesbian flag and Catra to it.
"This is mine now?"
"Yep! Keep it, I already have one hanging in my room." Adora said waving her hand. Catra went to hand it back but Adora shook her head.
"It's yours now!" Adora said happily. Catra stared at the flag as tears pricked the corner of her eyes.
"Catra?! What's wrong? You've never cried before!" Adora said immediately rushing over to comfort her. Catra leaned her head on Adora's shoulder and smiled.
"I feel happy, very very happy," Catra said as the tears finally dropped. She started crying, and they were happy tears. Adora smiled and hugged her so Catra rested her head on Adora's shoulder.
"Thank you so much!" Catra said through tears.
"No problem, I'm happy to help," Adora said rubbing Catra's back. She's proud of how far Catra's gone. She started not knowing anything and not being comfortable with herself to being well educated and finally happy with herself.
Adora feels amazing knowing she helped Catra through that. From the start she never saw her as a celebrity that needed to be praised, she saw her as a regular woman.
When the tears stopped Catra pulled away and rubbed her eyes. Wow, I haven't cried since I was five. She thought as Adora moved closer.
"So Catra, do you remember what normally happens after this?" Adora asked a little too eager for the next step.
"Uh, it's the dating thing right?" Catra asked and Adora nodded. Catra smiled. A genuine, large smile. She was proud of herself no doubt about it.
"So you are my girlfriend now!" Catra said before the door opened. Everyone turned their heads and Catra's eyes widened.
"Congratulations!" Perfuma cheered and everyone launched a party popper. Was this planned? Adora, I can take back everything I said. Catra glared at Adora but she seemed equally surprised.
"I didn't plan this I swear," Adora said with her hands up. Catra glanced back over at the group before hiding behind Adora.
"We aren't going to hurt you. Don't worry," Scorpia said as the group moved inside.
"I wanted to apologize for you know the threatening 'n stuff," Mermista said waving her hand.
"Yeah me too," Frosta said rubbing her neck. Catra looked up at Adora before back to the group.
"I..." She let out a sigh before moving from behind Adora's back.
"I accept your apology." She muttered. Everyone smiled until Catra held her hand up.
"Only because I'm in a good mood right now," Catra said crossing her arms. The group looked at each other and nodded.
"That's fair," Netossa said. Catra smiled before looking over at the stairs.
"Adora I'm gonna go to the bathroom." She said as Adora turned around. Like usual, Catra got a thumbs up. Catra waved to everyone while she went up the stairs. She entered Adora's room and looked around until she found the lesbian flag.
Catra sighed in relief. She felt that Adora was lying about the second flag only for her. Since she found what she was looking for she went back down.
Catra walked down the stairs in a slight hurry. When she reached the last step she saw that everyone was having a good time. Her heart ached knowing she was left out but she shook it away. Her focus was finding Adora.
Eventually, Catra spotted her in the kitchen talking with Spinnerella. Catra silently walked over and tapped her shoulder.
"Hey Catra,"
"Hello Catra," Spinnerella said and Catra waved.
"Can we talk?" Catra asked as Spinnerella stood up. She understood Catra wanted privacy and wasn't upset. She left as Catra sat down next to Adora.
"So what's up?" Adora asked happily.
"First off I'm sorry I lied, I needed an excuse to leave." Catra apologized rubbing her fingers. Adora was going to ask what for but stopped to let Catra finish.
"Second, I should've trusted you when you said you had another flag." Catra said playing with her fingers. Adora smiled and held her hands.
"Its ok, I wouldn't lie to you." She said with a smile on her face. That caused Catra to smile.
"Thanks,"
When Catra woke up she rubbed her eyes and sat up. Why am I in Adora's room? She wondered looking around. Then she saw Adora sleeping next to her. She smiled.
Sadly the moment couldn't last because Catra had to leave. She stood up and straightened her clothes before going downstairs and looking around. The group was asleep on the couch and some on seats but DT was nowhere to be found.
Catra shrugged it off and grabbed her shoes. She opened the door and left. Last night Catra and Adora were talking a lot about their personal life.
Catra found out Adora worked at the theme park and got excited. Maybe when I can leave again we could meet up one day! Last night when Adora fell asleep on her shoulder Catra changed Adora's contact to, Girlfriend💘.
Catra climbed over the fence and climbed up the rope into her bedroom. She moved the rope under the bed and slipped into bed. However, the silence didn't last long because she noticed two figures in her bedroom. She reached over to the light switched and turned it on.
The blood drained from her face when she saw both of her parents standing in front of the bed.
"Catrina Elizabeth Weaver Prime you better have an explanation for this."
