Chapter 10
Catra stopped sneaking out. She blocked Adora and Glimmer and whoever else tried to text her since that day. Her heart ached when she stopped seeing them but she brushed it off. They were fake anyway. She thought every time she would think about them.
She got lucky the end of the month came because she got her allowance. She was able to refill her wallet with the money she lost which made her slightly happier. She focused on her studies more and more but anything that reminded her of Adora's friends she didn't do well in. Despite that, she still pushed herself to do better.
What she had forgotten about is learning. Every time she went to Adora's house she would learn something new about the outside world. She was intrigued about it but couldn't do that anymore. And she can't research anything because she doesn't know what to look up. She was a mess and she knew it.
Today marks the second week since Catra stopped leaving her house. Her grades had gone up as she wanted but her parents weren't satisfied. That made her upset. She was overworking herself for them but got nothing in return.
Catra laid down in her bed. She was staring at her phone screen, more specifically her blocked contacts. She stared at Adora's contact before shutting her phone off. She did that frequently. She wanted to get back in touch but was scared to mess things up again. So she gave up.
Adora was furious with her friends. She refused to talk to them and never let them inside. Swifty and Mara received texts from the group causing them both to text Adora. She told them what happened and they never questioned her decisions but that never stopped them from worrying. Adora texted Catra multiple times but never got an answer.
She felt bad. She was so confident that Catra was going to love her friends that she forgot all about where Catra came from. Luckily Adora always had that certain time of day where she can just forget everything. Her job.
She works as a ride attendant at Etheria's theme park. She loves her job and she has her own group of friends from there. She always feels better after her shift but the feeling disintegrates the second she leaves the park. She just wants to get in touch with Catra again.
"Catra," Catra lifted her head at the sound of her mother's voice.
"Yes, mother?"
"Get dressed and come downstairs. You can wear... casual clothing." Beatrix said from downstairs. Catra tilted her head but didn't object. She took out some pants and a short-sleeve shirt before going to the bathroom. She brushed her hair and slipped on some shoes before going downstairs.
"What do you need mother?"
"We noticed that you have been overworking yourself and since you never leave the house we decided to let you spend your day at a theme park."
"What's a theme park?" Catra asked while straightening her shirt.
"You'll find out, come on. Butler!" Bea called out clapping her hands. The butler came rushing in and bowed. Bea directed him outside before taking Catra's hand and dragging her outside. The butler opened the door to their Lamborghini Veneno and Catra sat down.
"Since I am a busy woman I will not be attending this with you. So Sam will be keeping an eye on you." Bea said as Sam left the building. He bowed towards Beatrix and did the same to Catra.
"Have fun," Bea said walking away with the butler in tow. Sam sat down in the driver seat and turned their head to Catra in the back.
"Are you ready miss?" They asked and Catra nodded.
"Yeah," She replied as they started the car. They drove outside the gates and into the street. The second they left the house Catra had her head near the window, looking at everything she could see.
"So how have you been?" Sam asked still keeping an eye on the road. Catra looked up and shrugged.
"I've been alright I guess, I've just been doing my schoolwork," Catra said looking back outside. The rest of the ride was silent but comfortable. When Sam pulled up at the theme park Catra's eyes widened. This place was huge. It was loud, probably from the rides and man screams.
"This place is amazing." Catra breathed out, not moving her eyes from the rollercoasters.
"I know right, I knew you'd like this place," Sam said pulling up and parking in the parking lot.
"You knew?" Catra asked finally moving her eyes. Sam nodded with a chuckle.
"I convinced your mother to give you a break. And what better place than a theme park!" Sam said. Catra looked up at Sam and smiled.
"Thank you," Catra muttered rubbing her seat comfortably. Sam turned their head and nodded. After they parked they entered the park. Catra was practically bouncing from excitement. She felt like a child.
"This looks so cool!" She said looking around the park excitedly. Sam let her pick whatever she wanted for the day. Catra seemed to have a thing for rollercoasters so that's mostly what they went on. There was one rollercoaster she didn't go on but she was saving it for the end. Not many people approached the two but the ones who did were able to get autographs or photos.
Meanwhile, the two were playing in the arcade. Catra walked out of the arcade with a stuffed teddy bear she just won. She felt ecstatic.
"You want to go on that ride?" Sam asked for confirmation. Catra nodded handing the bear to Sam and running away. Sam chuckled from her enthusiasm before following her to the ride. Sam waited for Catra when the ride started. When it ended the sun had started to set.
"We should get going," Sam said as Catra straightened her shirt. She nodded and the two left the park.
Adora's shift just ended and she exited the park. While she was fishing for her keys in her pocket she noticed a familiar face in the parking lot. Once she found her keys she glanced at her car before back at Catra. Time to make things right. She thought making her way over to Catra and the other person.
"Catra!" Adora said and the brunette froze. Sam looked at her confusingly before turning around. They didn't recognize the girl so how did Catra?
"Do you know her?"
