"3..." The female voice spoke, the tension surrounding them getting tighter. "2..." They watched as the gate parted slowly, nearly allowing a gap for a human to pass. "1..." Everyone held their breaths, ready to jump into the dome. "Let's go!" People pushed past each other, eager to go into the place. The fresh air hit them hard, as the citizens of the city looked dumbfoundedly at the scene, before processing what was happening.
The humans separated, attempting to swipe at anything they could get. Food. Water. Fabric. Literally anything. In the midst of them all, a boy stood there, confused of what he had to do. He held on tightly to his ragged jacket, watched as the chaos unfolded around him.
"Get that chip packet over there!"
"Gimmie that sleeping bag!"
"Help me take over this Leno, you take over that one!" Orders were thrown around by humans, as they attempted to get at anything they could. Humans attempted to knock the Lenos out, yet not a scratch was landed on the species. Sometimes the humans mistaken their own kind as the Lenos.
A group of Lenos came, with some lasers in their hand. As the humans were trying to take things, the Lenos would try and knock them out, which they did successfully.
At that moment, a swarm entered. A swarm which didn't look human at all. A pack of figures, slumped over. Before the humans could process, people were getting pinned onto the floor, as rusted hands were put around their necks, a red light emitting from the contact.
Panic filled the air, as screams were heard around the place. The boy's hand reached down to his pocket, his hands wrapped around the gun that laid innocently in his belt. As the wrecked figure tried to head for him, he took it out, hands shaking. Before the figure could pin the boy to the ground, a gun shot was heard, followed by shaking hands.
"Come on Jisungie! We gotta leave!" a hand went around the free hand, dragging him away from the chaos. Yet the boy's eyes laid on the Lenos, humans and the wiped, as the fight continued on.
As the two boys travelled along, they looked back, watching as the wiped tried to go to the Leno. The boys eyes widened as the Lenos never spared a glance, before knocking them out.
"Come on Jisungie! We have to quickly go." A tug was onto Jisung's arms, as they went deeper into the city.
The boys entered a convenience store, as the girl at the cashier looked up.
"Ah, welcome! May I be at your assistance?" She asked them, as Jisung watched the cupboard slammed her fingers. "Oh, do you need any help? To Jisung's surprise, the girl never flinched, and continued with her actions.
Jisung tried to not put on a surprised expression, as the girl kept talking.
"We have this over here." She picked up a packet, as Jisung and his friend looked temptingly at it. As their eyes landed on the crackers. It was not much, yet it meant a life to Jisung.
As they stared at the packet in glory, a shout broke the moment.
"WE NEED MORE PEOPLE. THE HUMANS WON'T GIVE UP AND ARE STILL RAIDING THE CITY!" A man burst into the shop. "YOU THREE, HELP US PLEASE."
Jisung looked blankly at the man, as his grip on the elder beside him grew tighter.
The woman that had just previously served them before had jumped out of the counter, rushing to the store room. Once Jisung had thought she had fled out of fear, the door opened, revealing the woman with weapons in her hands.
His eyes widened, before getting snapped back by his friend. As he watched his friend take out his gun, he followed his actions, before nodding to the man. Rushing out of the convenience store, Jisung had kept his grip on his best friend. He had guessed the plan that his best friend was thinking.
It was pretty easy to pretend to be a Leno. Humans looked exactly like them, so if there wasn't much activity going on, a human could sit next to a Leno, and they wouldn't expect anything. When it came up to fighting, or anything related to that, it was easier to tell the humans apart from the Lenos.
So as long as Jisung and his friend avoided getting hurt, they would blend into the group.
The chaos had spread deeper into the city, as Jisung watched wiped trample over people that he knew.
He winced at every movement, trying to not show it to the Lenos beside them. Before Jisung could make a movement, he watched as the leader of the humans snatch the crackers off her.
Fire grew in the Leno's eyes, before they gave a punch to the leaders nose. Jisung had a temptation to save the leader, but he saw the death glare from his friend, which told him to calm down.
Before the leader could receive another punch to the nose, another figure snatched the poor girl away, before clasping their hands around the leaders neck. A light emitted from the contact, as Jisung watched in distress. Wanting to raise his gun at the wiped, the large hand of his friend stopped him, as he indicated the Lenos beside him, who didn't move an inch.
Jisung knew what it meant. He couldn't protect their own kind. He couldn't protect his own kind from getting wiped. Or that was what his best friend indicated. Nevertheless, Jisung listened to him, as they both watched their own leader pale up.
But they both knew what it meant. Their leader was going for them next. He also had realised that the Lenos were not scared of the wiped, which was almost impossible for the boy to copy, as he was terrified.
Slowly taking out his gun, he watched as the two wiped looked at the four, before the two pounced on the two Lenos, luckily.
Jisung's brave friend had wrapped his arms aggressively over the wiped leader, shaking them off from the Leno, who stole her cracker back. Whispering a little 'thank you', the woman pounced onto the leader, but the leader had already placed her hands around the Leno.
Jisung was about to reach out, but then he realised. The faintest light emitted from the contact, which never usually happened. The woman shrugged her shoulders, to tease their leader. Finally, the wiped let go, and looked for another target.
Jisung held his breath, as the other wiped had left his target, and started surrounding the two fake Lenos.
Jisung held his gun to his side, ready to fire if their leader came.
But did he have the courage to? The leader who allowed them all to survive the past year. The leader who welcomed everyone in need to her group. The leader who created a special bond with Jisung.
Out of all times he had to overthink, he had to do it now. His feet glued to the ground, he watched as if the world was in slow mode, his leaders face reached out to his neck. That when until someone pounced on them.
Jisung started blankly, as the unarmed figure had pinned their leader to the ground, hands around their covered neck. He had imagined that his friend would've saved him, but he never expected someone he didn't know to save him.
But things turned around. Now the wiped was pinning the organism to the ground, as the other attempted to wriggle out of his grasp. Jisung's hands shook, as he looked towards the scene that laid in front of him. The long legs of the human or Leno were visibly struggling and kicking at the leader, but to no avail, their legs slowly slowed down.
Jisung's grip on the gun got tighter, as he saw the wiped's hands reach for their neck. To Jisung's relief, a dim light only emitted from the contact. That meant the organism was a Leno.
Suddenly, the light was slowly getting more visible to Jisung. The Leno started struggling again. Was he actually a Leno? Panicking, Jisung pulled his gun out to his leader. Aiming, he shot the gun without any thought.
A shot, then silence followed. He watched as the girl fell towards the Leno's side, as the light flickered away.
But Jisung was left dazed and confused. Was the boy actually a Leno? Jisung looked over the scene again, and the leader that he had left dead by him. His eyes wandered over the Leno, as the two made eye contact.
Before Jisung could approach the other, a hand started pulling him away.
"Come on Jisung, you know it is not safe here, we have to go to a remote place to get more things for our group to survive. Our leader is gone but she is wiped, so don't worry. Besides, who wants a memory of 'the Hwang Hyunjin messing with the Han Jisung'?" Hyunjin air quoted the phrase, dragging the younger boy quietly. He couldn't understand how he could still joke around at such a time.
Jisung turned his head back to look at the Leno. Was he actually a Leno?
