Chapter 85 - New Addition to the World
Error's POV
It had been a few months since I saved Ink from my father. Things have changed dramatically since then. Any day now, Ink would go into labor. Lately, he has been going through mood swings, cravings, and all that fun stuff.
I typed on my laptop as I listened to the soup opera that played on my television. Ink slept next to me, covered by a fluffy blanket. I wanted to change my way of life since I'm a father now. Being an assassin and having a kid wasn't exactly the ideal combination. As a solution for this dilemma, I am creating a programming company. In middle and high school, I took several classes in coding.
I sighed heavily when I kept finding bugs in the program that I was making. Coding isn't as easy as everyone thinks. It takes ages to create the right code for something to work properly. I leaned back against the headboard as I covered my face out of irritation. This was taking longer than I thought it would. Finally deciding to take a break, I gently closed my laptop.
I focused my attention on my fiancé. Ink quietly hummed when I began rubbing the top of his head. He buried himself further into the blanket that was covering him. I smiled before looking at the TV in the corner of my room. I watched the soup opera as I thought of random things. That's when a certain thought popped into my mind.
'What if we move to a different country? Would Ink like that?'
Opening my laptop once more, I searched houses in many other different countries. There were some modern homes that I really liked but I had to ask Ink first if he was willing to leave the country that he spent his entire life in. I didn't mind moving, I had my entire life next to me.
Ink groaned lightly as his eyes opened, his mismatched eyes meeting mine. Pushing himself up, he stretched before leaning against my shoulder. I chuckled at how he acted like he was drained of all energy.
Me: How was your nap?
Ink: I didn't really sleep well. I was very uncomfortable the entire time.
I kissed the top of his head and pulled him closer to me. That's when Ink noticed the website that was opened on my desktop.
Ink: Why are you looking at houses?
I stayed silent for a couple of minutes because I had to pick my words carefully.
Me: I was thinking, after our wedding... we move to a different country. Start a new life there, with our child. We could live a peaceful and normal life. We wouldn't have be constantly on alert because of our jobs. Since the rest of the world doesn't have the assassination law, we wouldn't have to kill people anymore. And Gradient... can have a normal life.
Ink stared at me and spoke no words. I could see the gears turning in his head. He must have been really deep in thought because he didn't talk until five minutes later. He looked away when he finally came up with his response.
Ink: When you put it that way... then it seems it's for the best.
A black tear rolled down his cheek.
Me: Why are you crying, Inky?
Ink: It's just, I'll be leaving so many memories behind. And what are we going to do for our jobs?
Me: I'm trying to create a programming company. And you...
I placed my finger under his chin so he would look at me.
Me: can pursue your inner artist.
His eyes changed into a pink heart and an orange circle. Me telling him about the opportunity of doing what he loved excited him. However, they changed back to what they were before.
Ink: What about our friends?
Me: They're not children. They can fend for themselves. Besides, I'm pretty sure they like killing people for money. I don't like doing it anymore.
I thought for a second.
Me: I think I've become a more mature person since the day our child came to be known. I believe I am now more suitable to be a father.
Ink smiled.
Ink: You were always suitable, Ruru. You just needed to see it.
I kissed his forehead. Suddenly, the smile on his face disappeared and was replaced with a look of discomfort. I gave him a confused look. He seemed to not know what was wrong either, then a layer of realization hit him. He looked at me with a shocked expression.
Ink: I'm going into labor.
I didn't process it until a minute later.
Me: Like right now?
Ink: Yup, now.
Me: The worst timing possible.
(Time Skip)
After many hours of Ink being in pain and him killing my hand, our baby bones was put into the world. I held a sleeping Gradient carefully in my arms. Ink was passed out in the hospital bed out of exhaustion. Sitting on the chair next to him, I went to rub his head but I hesitated. Memories of my mother came back to me. This is exactly how my mother became sick... before she died. When I did make contact with Ink, I sighed happily when he gave me a sign that he was okay. I smiled as I lightly pet my future wife and held my child close to me.
An hour passed and Ink groaned as he woke up. His eyes made contact with Gray. I passed Gradient to his mother. Ink held Gray softly against his chest. Our child moved as he seemed to sense who Ink was. Leaning against of the railing of the hospital bed, I protectively watched over the mother of my child as well as my kid. I felt the fatherly instincts run through me. Something that my dad never had. Ink looked at me with love filled eyes.
Ink: He looks just like his father.
Me: And he has the eyes of his mother.
Ink smiled as rainbow blush dusted his cheeks. He held out his hand towards me and I took it. I pulled it closer to me and kissed it. A small giggle escaped from him.
The doctor walked into the room. She looked at Ink and began speaking to him.
Doctor: Gradient is completely healthy and is ready to be taken home. However, he was born with a stutter but don't worry, he will grow out of it when he gets older.
Ink: Thank you Miss.
She nodded and then walked out. I helped Ink out of the bed with Gray still in his warm, motherly embrace. Teleporting us home, I set up the cradle for our kid to sleep in. Ink laid our baby in it as he hummed a small lullaby. I hugged him from behind and rested my chin on his shoulder. I listened to the song that he hummed.
We sat on the bed together and enjoyed the silence that surrounded us. The true definition of family finally found me. My family was in this single room. Taking Ink's hand, I admired his engagement ring. Now that Gray was brought into this world, we can now get married. I wrapped my jacket around Ink so that he was embraced by a warm cloth after I laid him down into a sleeping position. Leaning against the back of the headboard, I opened my laptop once again. I worked on my program for a little bit before looking at homes in a nonfucked up country. Any place was fine with me since...
My wife and kid were next to me
