Chapter 39 - Athena

Lust's POV

The sound of the rain hitting against my window soothed my mind. While sitting on my bed with the sheets covering my legs, I cycled through the papers. Recently, I received several fashion combinations from my employer. She wants me to wear one of these for a show. I scribbled notes on each one. I didn't like these combinations. Some notes praised the design of a certain piece and others criticized. I've always wanted to own a fashion store. Chic and unique clothing, jewelry, and accessories. It's always been my dream.

Thunder could be heard. Like the two hands of an unworldly being collided within the clouds. My door opened to show Horror. His expression was unreadable. He crawled onto my bed and snuggled into my thigh.

Me: Are you okay?

He shook his head.

Me: What's wrong?

Horror: You would laugh at me.

Me: No I wouldn't honey. Please tell me.

Horror: ... I'm scared of thunder.

Me: Aw, honey.

I set my papers aside and kissed his forehead with my arm gently wrapped around his head. He whined quietly. Ink walked in.

Ink: Good morning guys.

I returned his greeting and Horror mumbled morning as well.

Ink: Um, I made breakfast for everyone. So if you want to eat, it's ready. I'm the only one that's awake so, first come first serve.

Me: Okay. We'll be down in a minute.

Ink gave me a finger gun than walked out. I stuffed my papers into my folder and dragged Horror off the bed, which caused him to fall.

Me: Are you okay?

I managed to say between laughs.

Horror: No. I'd be surprised if no one woke up from that.

He winced as he stood up. He followed me to the kitchen. Ink was standing at the island, cutting various fruits.

Ink: Waffles are in the oven, syrup is in the microwave, and I have bowls of fruits for the toppings. Also, I have caramel if you don't want syrup.

Me: Thank you.

I sat down at the dining table with a beautifully decorated waffle. Before I could take a picture of it because of its beauty, Horror took a bite.

Me: Hey.

Horror: What?

He said through a full mouth.

Me: I was enjoying the way it looked.

Horror: Food is for eating, not eye candy.

He put a piece on his fork and put it in front of my mouth. I ate it.

Me: It tastes as good as it looked.

Ink sat two cups of coffee next to us. We thanked him. Ink sat on the furthest chair so we wouldn't think that he was intruding. I looked at Ink. He was drawing something in his sketchbook. Without looking weird, I peeked over. He was drawing fashion. Feeling an urge of eagerness, I stood up which caused my chair to shoot backwards. I ran over to Ink and stared at the page. Ink watched me as I picked up the book and memorized the tiny details of everything.

Me: Ink, I need you to draw for me!

Ink: What?

Me: I need your creativity for fashion, please.

Ink: Um, okay?

Killer: What the hell is Lust yelling about?

Killer walked into the room while rubbing his eyes. It seemed someone did wake up.

Me: It's just Ink drawing is so good that I have to have him as my fashion designer.

Killer: I thought you were a stripper.

Me: That was my evening job but after I came here, I stepped down from my position.

Killer: Ah, okay.

(Time Skip)

Several men and women moved around the room, carrying different fabrics and tools. My employer stood at one of tables of the workers. She was helping them pick the colour fabric and which needle to use.

Horror stood behind me and refused to leave my side. I carefully held the folder against my chest as to make sure that it didn't get any creases. My employer saw me standing on the other side of the room. She walked over to me.

Jenny: Lust. Glad you're back. Which combination did you choose.

Me: Neither actually.

I handed her the sketch.

Me: A friend of mine drew this. I really liked its look so I chose this.

Jenny: ... I can make this work but it has to be done by tomorrow for the show. Victoria!

She snapped her fingers and as if like magic, a small female ocelot appeared next to Jenny.

Victoria: Yes Mrs. Jennifer?

Jenny: Can you do this?

Victoria: Yes.

Victoria took the sketch and began working her magic. She was a ocelot from Mexico. She was very talented in what she did but never owned up to it since she was shy.

I stared at Horror and told him that we were going to be in New York for about three days. He nodded and rested his axe on his shoulder.

(Time Skip)

After a full day of walking in boots, I was exhausted. Horror was sitting on my couch and watched me make phone calls. Once I was done, I flopped next to Horror.

Horror: Can I show you something?

Me: Sure.

He teleported us to an unknown location. Well, to me it was unknown. It was a small country town.

Horror: This is where I grew up.

He led me to a small house that was tucked away in the forest. Horror opened the barn that was close by and came back with a horse.

Me: Isn't this stealing?

Horror: No. I own this horse. Her name is Athena.

I backed away in fear. She was strongly built and tall. She most likely pulled heavy objects. The mare looked like she could kill with a single stomp of her hoof. Horror gently took my hand and guided me towards her. I flinched when my hand made contact with her muzzle. Surprisingly, Athena nuzzled against me. Horror hugged me from behind.

Horror: She likes ya. Now hop on her.

Me: Wait what?! We're riding this giant creature?

Horror: Hell yeah!

He picked me up and hoisted me onto the saddle. Horror got on himself with the reins wrapped around his hands. With a small flick of the reins and a squeeze of his feet, Athena started to walk slowly. I gripped Horror tightly and buried my face into his back. I felt him chuckle.

After a few minutes, I was able to build even courage to see the world again. We were on a dirt trail in the middle of the forest. It wasn't like a haunted forest, but like a holy one. It wasn't dark, it was brightly lit. The only sound was Athena's hooves hitting the ground with a great amount of weight. I suddenly didn't find riding Athena to be scary anymore. Resting against Horror, I watched the sun rays dance between the trees. The movement of the horse caused us to sway slightly. The swaying started to make me feel tired. It had a heavier affect since I was already exhausted from earlier today. I let my eyes close.

(Time Skip)

I woke up in a state of bliss. My body was surrounded with a soft touch. Like clouds lightly kissing me. Once my vision focused, I saw that I was laying in a soft patch of emerald grass. The small plants haven't gave up to the fall quite just yet. I pushed myself up with my elbows. I saw Horror leaning against a tree with a wheat stem between his teeth, staring at the sunset. Athena was eating grass in the distance. She gave the scenery a certain charm. Horror's axe laid peacefully next to him. One of the times its not in a state of violence.

I stood up, in return alerted Athena. She realized it was only me and went back to grazing. I lowered myself against Horror's side.

Horror: It's beautiful, isn't it? You never get the opportunity to see this in the city.

Me: No.

We looked at each other. He noticed me looking at the wheat stem. He took it out of his mouth.

Horror: Sorry. I guess old habits never die.

Me: It's okay. I'm just not used to something like that. Cigarettes and fedoras are more familiar to me.

He laughed and wrapped his arm around me.

Horror: Hey doll.

Me: Yeah?

Horror: Love ya.

Me: I love you too...

Honey

A Quick Discussion

Quick Discussions are now footnotes because I don't want them taking up space between the chapters. I think I have two... no, three things to talk about. I'm sorry, actually four things. I take that back, just three. One, Horror and Lust are complete opposites in this story, I just realized that. Horror doesn't care about what you wear as long as it doesn't get in the way. While Lust, believes that everything is dependent on fashion. Basically 'you are what you wear'. Two, in Quick Discussions, I type what I actually say. I want to have a better connection between my readers. It makes the story seem more special, ya know? I don't understand what I'm saying, honestly. Oh yeah, I forgot. Three, I just wanted to say how amazed I am at you guys and this story. I can still remember typing the very first chapter. To be honest, I'm scared. I don't want this journey to end. Making you guys happy, makes me happy. What if I don't have any more ideas? When this is over, do I just ran out of inspiration?
